Red looks like any other two year old dog but the hitch in his-get-a-long and scars under his slowly growing fur tells another story that started six months ago.
In October, Plano Animal Services responded to a cruelty complaint and found Red on the balcony of a second story apartment.
Animal Services Manager Jamey Cantrell said Red was as close to death as you can get.
He looked like a skeleton that had some red fur pulled over it, Cantrell recalled. It was like looking at an x-ray of a dog it really what it looked like.
Red had been left on the balcony to slowly starveone photograph tells a terrible story.
If you look closely at the pictures youll actually see one of the doors back behind him where hes pulled the wood off, Cantrell explained. He was actually eating the wood to survive.
Reds malnourished bones and joints needed surgerypaid for by citizen donations.
Animal Services Officer Kendra Hamilton was there the day red was rescued. It was love at first sight.
Kendra shot home video of her and Red playing and now after six long months of rehab Red is ready for adoption.
For Kendra is will be one of the greatest, saddest days ever.

Prolific burglar jailed for break in
10:00am Tuesday 18th March 2014 in News
A PROLIFIC criminal is behind bars after an off-duty officer caught him looking into back gardens moments after he burgled a house.
Matthew Cook, 31, of Thornbush, Basildon, and his friend Gary Goodwin, 34, of Princes Close, Laindon, smashed the patio doors of the home, in Forest Glade, Langdon Hills, on January 6, to get inside.
Basildon Crown Court heard the pair, who admitted the offence, left cupboards and drawers open in their search before putting electrical items and jewellery worth 1,000 in holdalls.
They jammed a key in one of the front door locks before leaving.
However, an off-duty officer saw the pair looking over fences and called in the information.
Police searched the scene and the two men ran off when they were spotted.
Officers tracked them down and discovered one of the holdalls, recovering some of the stolen items.
They could not find the second bag, containing a wedding ring, engagement ring and the victims grandmothers ring.

A teacher of Eucon International School fell victim to burglars Monday last week.
Darlene Ridenour arrived home on March 10, 2014, at the Eucon Hotel in Papago across the old Botanical Gardens to find that her house had been ransacked.
She said the burglars went through the back door and took almost everything in her apartment and then later went inside another tenants room and took shoes.
Ridenour described the back doors as patio doors that could be popped up.
Among the items that were stolen were her TV set, DVD, camera, laptop, cell phone, a hard drive system and all her jewelry, several pieces of which were worth some money.
Ridenour said that among the irreplaceable items that were stolen was her daughters class ring and pictures. According to the victim, the class ring belonged to her deceased daughter who passed away in a car accident several years ago.
I cannot replace her things, she said. Its very heartbreaking, I feel very violatedstealing pictures that can never be replaced, she said.
She said that police have been notified and have investigated both her room and the other room that was also burglarized. That room is occupied by a student of Eucon International School.
About two Eucon teachers and one student along with other residents stay in the hotel.

John Exadaktilos is the owner of Ducktown Tavern in Atlantic City and says nearly3,300 people flocked through the doors Saturday because of the parade.
"We had beautiful weather. From what I've seen in the past nine years we've done this, we had record breaking crowds in this town," says Exadaktilos. "Food was coming out of here faster then they could make it. All in all, it was just a good business day."
But the Irish festivities aren't just finished yet.Exadaktilos and his staff are gearing up to open their doors Monday for St. Patty's Day.
"We are preparing now for tomorrow. We're over staffed again to make sure everyone's happy when they come in. Make sure everyone drinks well, eats well, and gets home safe," says Exadaktilos.
Even the Irish Pub saw a boost in business from the parade.
"Yesterday was mobbed here. It was packed. It was just a great time," says Tracy Talley, manager at the Irish Pub in Atlantic City."Yesterday was such a beautiful day for a parade. And for people to be outside, that's why we were so busy. Outside on our patio, the patio was filled up in about five minutes. There wasn't a seat to be had out there."
Staff at the pub say they're excited and ready for Monday.
"We're stocked and ready to go as if we we're serving for the summer," says Talley.
Although the weather cooperated for Saturday's parade, Mother Nature is expected to bring snowfall to South Jersey on St. Patty's Day.
"Rain or shine, I think everybody wants to be Irish on St. Patty's Day. I don't think it's going to stop them," says Talley.
