    10:19am Thursday 27th March 2014 in News

TWO men tried to force their way into a Southampton home in an attempted burglary.

They were discovered trying to force open the patio doors of the home in Prince of Wales Avenue at about 8.50pm on March 20.

One of the occupants of the house woke up after hearing a noise, and found the wouldbe intruders.

The occupant, a man in his 60s, scared them off by banging the door and then called the police.

The men were wearing dark clothing and possibly baseball caps under dark hooded tops.

Anyone with information should contact DC Katherine Gillingham at Shirley CID on 101.

She said: The victims of this attempted burglary were feeling ill and were in bed when this incident happened.

Please look out for your neighbours and report anything suspicious.

Milgard Launches Bi-fold, Pocket Options for Moving Glass Wall Systems - March 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Tacoma, Washington (PRWEB) March 24, 2014

Milgard unveiled two new offerings within its Moving Glass Wall Systems today. Consumers will now have the choice of Bi-Fold and Pocket operating styles in addition to the existing Stacking option when they consider Moving Glass Wall Systems.

In July 2013, Milgard launched Moving Glass Wall Systems, a glass wall system available in standard sizes, making the option more obtainable to a wider range of homeowners. Compared to custom-sized glass walls, Milgard Moving Glass Wall Systems are also more affordable.

Now, Milgard responds to demand for more glass wall options as consumers increasingly look to integrate indoor-outdoor living in their homes.

The demand for Moving Glass Wall Systems is only picking up momentum, and consumers are continuing to look for innovative ways to find the useable square footage in a smaller footprint, said Keith Dashofy, product manager of the Moving Glass Wall Systems. With the expansion of our Moving Glass Wall System to include Stacking, Pocketing and Bi Fold door operations, consumers now have multiple choices when it comes to unlocking these spaces that create a healthy and inspirational environment for the generations to come.

The line extension provides consumers alternatives to accomplish distinct design effects. The Bi-Fold option employs a bottom loaded operation which eliminates the need for a structural header. Large glass panels are connected by hinges and each panel simply folds on top of the adjacent panel to open.

Pocket doors take up less room because when fully open, the glass panels slide into the wall and completely disappear from view. Because of this operation feature, pocketing panels add more floor space than hinged panels.

With Moving Glass Wall Systems, homeowners can enjoy a seamless transition from room to room or close off areas just as easily. Since large glass walls are often built into high-end houses, the product adds a touch of luxury to any home.

Milgard Moving Glass Wall Systems are available in several stock finishes including white, dark bronze anodized aluminum and Aluminum Clad Wood with Clear Vertical Grain Douglas Fir and Pine. All aluminum frames are thermally broken for improved energy efficiency.

About Milgard Windows & Doors Milgard Windows & Doors, a Masco company based in Tacoma, Washington, offers a full line of vinyl, wood, fiberglass and aluminum windows and patio doors for builders, dealers and homeowners, all backed by a Full Lifetime Warranty, including parts and labor. WORX AIR Blower/Sweeper with Versatile Attachments Clears the Way for Summer Fun - March 24, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Charlotte, N.C. (PRWEB) March 24, 2014

After one of the hardest winters in recent history, most homeowners are daydreaming about a day at the beach, rather than pushing a broom or pulling a rake. But theres still a long list of necessary cleaning chores around the ole homestead.

What if you could knock off 85 percent of the dirt thats tracked, blown or carried into the house through common entry points? These entry points include the front and rear doors, garage, patio or deck. What if this continuous flow of dirt could be blocked by creating a clean zone around the perimeter of the house, reducing the amount of dirt that gets inside?

In fact, there is a way. By using the WORX AIR blower/sweeper attachments, the homeowner can remove dust, dirt and debris from the front entryway, patio, deck and garage in rapid succession. Then, in no-time flat, those inner tubes and other inflatables can be filled with air, and the family is off to the beach.

All eight AIR attachments are included with the WORX 20V and 32V MAXLithium Blower/Sweeper models. They can be used singly or in combination for a number of cleaning, clearing, inflating and deflating applications.

For instance, the AIR Wand serves as an air broom to clear dust and debris. It also is handy for drying cars, windshields, patio sliding glass doors, window frames and other flat areas.

The AIR Dust Brush is a 90 extension wand with a brush that removes cobwebs, clears out sliding door and window frame tracks and cleans recessed and hard-to-reach areas in RVs, vans, boat hulls and more.

Designed for quick cleanups, the AIR Compact Tube delivers a concentrated blast to clear out dust and debris from campers, cabin tents, picnic table tops, screened-in porches, patio steps, garage floors and more.

The AIR Extension Hose with AIR Detail Nozzle attached is intended for sensitive dust clearing.

Switch to the Inflator Nozzle for inflating beach rafts, inner tubes, air mattresses and other large inflatables. The AIR Deflation Cover and Nozzle deflates inflatables for storage and easy transport.

    10:00am Tuesday 18th March 2014 in News

A PROLIFIC criminal is behind bars after an off-duty officer caught him looking into back gardens moments after he burgled a house.

Matthew Cook, 31, of Thornbush, Basildon, and his friend Gary Goodwin, 34, of Princes Close, Laindon, smashed the patio doors of the home, in Forest Glade, Langdon Hills, on January 6, to get inside.

Basildon Crown Court heard the pair, who admitted the offence, left cupboards and drawers open in their search before putting electrical items and jewellery worth 1,000 in holdalls.

They jammed a key in one of the front door locks before leaving.

However, an off-duty officer saw the pair looking over fences and called in the information.

Police searched the scene and the two men ran off when they were spotted.

Officers tracked them down and discovered one of the holdalls, recovering some of the stolen items.

They could not find the second bag, containing a wedding ring, engagement ring and the victims grandmothers ring.
