SI Restoration Exposes the Dangers of Mold in Maryland Schools - December 30, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) December 30, 2013

It is true that mold and its spores, or seeds, exist in every indoor and outdoor environment. However, when counts of toxic mold spores spike indoors in comparison to their outdoor counterparts, symptoms like skin irritation, eye irritation, congestion, respiratory difficulties, and high fevers can plague even those without any known allergies to mold. School officials in Montgomery County, Maryland have recently released reports to concerned parents around the district as they have uncovered a rash of mold outbreaks in area schools. While mold remediation has commenced, making affected areas safer for students, teachers, and parents, mold experts suggest further action must be taken to ensure the safety of inhabitants of the schools.

SI Restoration has been servicing the Maryland community with residential and commercial mold removal services since 1989. For over two decades, Maryland residents have counted on SI Restoration to provide expert services and knowledge on the silent threat known as toxic mold growth. Its recent publication, Mold in Schools, outlines the adverse effects of the toxic fungal infestation as well as necessary protocol school officials must follow in order to ensure the safety of its population of students, faculty, and parents.

The Washington Post reveals that fliers were delivered to parents and guardians about the outbreak and how toxic mold spores can negatively affect those who come in contact with them. The Washington Post also reveals that one Maryland school in particular found mold in 30 of their classrooms as recently as September.

SI Restoration explains in their publication that effective mold remediation requires attacking the toxic fungus at its source. One of the most pressing mold FAQs is, How does mold grow? While molds need dark, warm climates to thrive, moisture is molds number one source of growth. Professional remediation service providers must follow strict industry standards outlined by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in order to guarantee safe practices are carried out during the eradication process. SI Restoration explains that these practices include:

Firefighters fear goal of mold remediation is to close station in Chico - December 21, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

All Chico E-R photos are available here.

CHICO -- A growing concern, however accurate or outlandish, is that the underlying goal of mold remediation at Fire Station 5 is to find a reason to close the station and use it as a tool to downsize the Fire Department.

"We are throwing out a conspiracy theory and hoping that it's wrong. But it seems like the more that goes on, the worse it gets," said firefighter Ken Campbell, a member of the firefighters' union.

The station is currently in the middle of a mold remediation project, for which the City Council allocated $25,000. At the direction of the Fire Chief Keith Carter, firefighters have been temporarily relocated to an on-site trailer so service to the area will be uninterrupted.

Firefighters believe some city officials have an agenda to downsize the Fire Department for budgetary savings and closing the fire station proves a tool to make that happen, Campbell said.

"Let's have an honest public discussion where everybody can have input and is apprised that this is the goal and asked is the public OK with this," he said. "We work for the public, and we work for the councilors under the direction of the public."

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Public Works Director Ruben Martinez said the mold investigation has spread beyond its three initial areas and funding is being used for further investigation. The extent of necessary remediation is still unknown.

The major problem is a lack of communication, Campbell said.

With such lack of transparency, he said, a leading fear is the mold problem will reach the point where firefighters cannot use the station a concern echoed by Councilor Sean Morgan on Tuesday.

Mold Suspends Classes in Harrisburg School District; My Cleaning Products Recommends Two Organic Sprays to Kill Mold … - December 20, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Springfield, OR (PRWEB) December 20, 2013

Due to a mold issue, classes in a school district in Oregon were canceled. In response to it, My Cleaning Products recommended two organic sprays to help the public kill mold safe.

According to a report from kval.com posted on December 18, 2013, the cafeteria of Harrisburg Elementary School was recently flooded, My Cleaning Products shared. That, it stated, created some mold concern, forcing the school district to suspend the classes.

Particularly, the report said that the flooding was caused by a broken pipe in the building. And concerned of the air quality in the area, it detailed that K-12 classes in Harrisburg school district were canceled on December 19.

The incident, as said in the report, prevented the offering of food service to the students, MCP related. Despite that, it added that scheduled athletic practices and events of the students would proceed.

Below is a part of the post Mold Cancels Harrisburg Classes by My Cleaning Products.

All because of a broken pipe that led to a mold concern, classes at Harrisburg school district in Oregon was canceled.

The broken pipe flooded the cafeteria of Harrisburg Elementary School. That caused a mold issue at the soaked area, which prevented the offering of food service to the students.

"Flood could indeed cause mold growth", My Cleaning Products said. "In fact, even just a slight moisture could already cause a mold problem, it stated."

Because of that and because moisture is everywhere, MCP said that everyone must be alert of mold signs. Moreover, it added that the public must always be ready to Kill Mold promptly and safely. And to do that, it stated that one could prepare mold removal sprays.
