Mold Inhibits 600,000 University of Missouri Books, My Cleaning Products Advises Use of Two Mold Removal Products to … - January 30, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Columbia, MO (PRWEB) January 30, 2014

Mold has reportedly damaged about 600,000 books of the University of Missouri Libraries. In response to it, My Cleaning Products recommended two mold removal sprays to assist the public in preventing a mold problem of the same extent.

Based on a report from kansascity.com posted on January 29, 2014, the books were stored in an off-campus facility in north Columbia. And as it detailed, the problem about the fungus inhabiting them was discovered in October.

However, Jim Cogswell, the Libraries Director, said in the report that probably only less than half of the damaged volumes will be restored. The reason it determined was the high cost of the mold cleanup.

As the report detailed, the removal of mold from each book could cost around $3. It stated that if it is done to all the affected materials, the treatment could cost up to $1.8 million. But even though it was already said that just a small percentage of books would be saved, it added that the officials were still deciding what to do with the rest.

Below is an excerpt from the post Mold Damages 600,000 Books by My Cleaning Products.

An off-campus storage facility of the University of Missouri Libraries was hit by mold. And based on a report, the damage the fungus brought was no joke.

Discovered in October, the mold problem in the said underground storage in north Columbia affected some 600,000 books. Good thing though that it did not endanger the public's health as stated by a safety officer last week.

According to MCP, mold is preventable. It said that books, clothes, bags, furniture and other things could be saved from its damages in a lot of ways.

However, it cited that circumstances as flood and unknown leaks could promote the fungus' growth without hindrances. Because of that, it advised the public to be always ready to kill mold. It said that detecting and clearing it early is the best anyone could do when caught in such situations.

Resident Complains of Black Mold in a San Antonio Housing, My Cleaning Products Reveals a Way to Prevent the Worst of … - January 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) January 24, 2014

Black mold was reportedly plaguing a housing in San Antonio. The details of it were related by kens5.com on its post dated January 21, 2014. In response to it and in an attempt to help public, My Cleaning Products suggested a way how to prevent the worst effects of a mold problem.

In the report, Sara Olivares was identified as the person who complained about the fungus in a certain housing on the west side of the city. It detailed that she particularly griped that the mold in her bathroom was making her sick.

However, San Antonio Housing Authority, based on the report, stated that they offered her to relocate several times. Nonetheless, she refused to do so, it relayed.

Below is an excerpt from the post Tenant Says Black Mold in a San Antonio Housing Makes Her Sick by My Cleaning Products:

Black mold was putting a housing in San Antonio in a bad light. A resident of it complained that the fungus in the building was making her sick.

That housing in question was Precious Drive on the west side of the city. And that tenant complaining was Sara Olivares.

MCP said that although mold infestation is a common house problem, it must not be allowed to grow and spread. That's because it poses minor to major health effects, it stated.

However, it stated that the fungus' presence couldn't always be prevented. Such is the case when there is a flood or water damage, it cited.

Because of that and the fact that those incidents couldn't be predicted, My Cleaning Products said that the public must be ready all the time to kill mold. By doing so, it stated that one could prevent the worst of the problems that it could bring.

Mold leads to elimination of 300,000 MU Libraries’ volumes - January 25, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

COLUMBIA About 300,000 volumes belonging to MU Libraries will have to be eliminated because of mold contamination, according to a letter emailed to MU faculty and staff on Friday afternoon by Director of Libraries Jim Cogswell.

In October, MU Libraries staff discovered mold growth on about 600,000 volumesin an off-campus library storage facility north of Interstate 70, Cogswell wrote. The volumesmust be treated or be destroyed to ensure that contamination cannot spread to other collections.

Cogswell said in an interview that there is only enough money and time to save up to half of the contaminated volumes.

"This affects deeply those of us in libraries who spend our work lives taking care ofsourcesofstudy and scholarship," Cogswell said. "It goes to the center of everything we try to do. We try to build and expand, not destroy."

The storage facilities are part ofSubtera underground warehousing, said Shannon Cary, communications officer for MU Libraries. MU started moving volumes into the location in 2007, she said.

No one at Subtera, a part of Con-Agg of MO, LLC Cos., was available for comment mid-afternoon Friday.

Cogswell said in the letter that treating all affected items could cost up to $1.8 million but that the self-insurance fund created by MU Libraries for such disasters is about $700,000.

"We will not get rid of any materials that we are not able to replicate through other means," Cogswell said in the interview. "Some materials are available online, and others we are relying on partner libraries to help us with, as we have done for them in the past."

MU Libraries expects to remediate and keep up to 300,000 volumes from the contaminated materials, according to the letter. The materials must be dealt with quickly and removed to safer storage before warm weather and humidity return.

Cogswell said they are seeking new storage options and intend to move all treated materials before the end of June. To meet the deadline, at least 15,000 volumes will have to be treated and relocated every week.
