Recent studies show there is a direct correlation between clutter and stress as a proven contributor to weight gain and making healthy decisions. Order - Clean Space, Clean Mind: Humans have a habit to collect, accumulate and save a variety of stuff. Clutter heightens stress, collects dust, and effects efficiency. In fact, most experts agree that clutter can be a contributing factor to one's compliance to exercising, eating well and maintaining other healthy behaviors. In an effort to lead by example, PFC de-cluttered every square foot of the resort's Center Court. Almost all administrative paperwork is now digital, books, magazines, and other health literature have a home in PFC's new THINK - EAT - MOVE library, white boards are mounted to the wall opposed to the previous, obtrusive roller, and each client is assigned their own locker so-to-speak to keep miscellaneous personal items off of chairs, tables and floors.
Color - The Orange Effect: Orange is the color of happiness, confidence and energy. it is the best emotional stimulant. It strengthens the appetite for life, connects to the senses and helps remove inhibitions. PFC's main brand color is orange chosen specifically for the psychological impact behind the bold hue. Susanna incorporates the energizing color tastefully throughout the building in office soffits, ceramic accents and custom-designed bathroom signage with appropriately illustrated stick figures lifting weights. A soft white covers the main walls to maintain the building's mediterranean essence, and a warm grey gives the traditional beams a modern update.
Nature - Bring the Outdoors In: Houseplants do more than beautify a space. According to healthline.com, Research shows that plants inside a home can produce numerous physical and mental health benefits. Plants naturally fight pollutants caused by compounds in paints, furnishings and building materials, they can enhance cognitive function, increase self-esteem and reduce anxiety. Samaniego brings life to the multi-functioning room with refreshing Fiddle Leaf Fig indoor plants. The lush, sculptural eye candy lines PFC's rest area as a natural wall for privacy, greets guests at the main entrance and adds purifying CO2 throughout various areas of Center Court.

Additionally, track lighting was updated and positioned purposefully to gently brighten the building.
Personalize - The Ultimate Comfort Zone: A home that reflects the individual residing in it automatically produces a feeling of comfortit's welcoming, familiar and restorative. Susanna brilliantly personalizes the healthy retreat turning coastal, PFC destinations like La Jolla's Torrey Pines and Swami's Beach to life in the form of large format wall graphics produced by local photographer Pete Katcov. Perhaps the most breathtaking moment of "comfort", however lies in the oversized custom art of San Diego's Ponto Beach, created by photographic artist, Jeff Lewis. Kristina Moore: When did you first recognize professional women were being underserved in terms of handbag organizational features and why are you passionate about serving her with Dagne Dover?
Melissa Mash: While I was working in London reintroducing the Coach brand to the UK/EU market, I spoke with customers every day. And in looking for a handbag, women all had the same problems: they couldnt find a handbag with a laptop sleeve, their water bottle spilled all over and ruined their papers and tech in their bag, their keys scratched their laptop, they couldnt ever find their keys, wallet, etc. Their handbags made them feel like a hot mess.
Fast forward a year. Im in business school, Im carrying a $1000 bag that was supposed to be the ultimate professional lady boss bag and my laptop wouldnt even fit in it, let alone fit folders, binders, etc. The three general interior pockets did nothing for me, except give me three pockets to potentially misplace my phone. At the same time, my peers were putting so much effort into looking perfectly put together for recruiting events but its hard to look put together while youre doing a two-bag schlep or while youre rifling through your black-hole bag for a resume! Also, a lot of women were wearing bags that were perceived to be too casual to be taken seriously or too flashy to be professional. Combining what I had seen while I was at Coach, along with my personal struggles and those I observed, I knew there was tremendous opportunity for a fashion brand that nailed thoughtful interior design.

Her work transforming an awkward, cramped kitchen into an inviting space ideal for entertaining has earned a Pittsburgh newcomer national attention.
Interior designer Lauren Levant Bland, 32, of Lawrenceville won for Most Dramatic Transformation in HGTV's Fresh Faces of Design competition identifying the Top 10 American designers under age 35.
I was really thrilled says Levant Bland, owner of Lauren Levant Interior. I always like it when I know the design I've done pleases the client, and to think it's also been intriguing for other people to see is a wonderful honor.
In their search for the newest crop of up-and-coming talent, HGTV invited designers from all over the country to submit their work. A panel of industry leaders then selected finalists for awards in 10 categories, and the public voted to select the winners.
Levant Bland's work turning the bright-yellow, country-style kitchen into a warm, more natural space for a client in Washington, D.C., will be featured across the HGTV family of websites, mobile apps and in HGTV Magazine. The opportunity to reach so many people with her work is exciting for the young designer.
There are probably at least a few projects that I will never know of or see that have been inspired in some way by that, she says. When people save it to their idea books and talk about it, your design keeps going, and that's really cool.
The original space was disjointed and cramped, with an off-center window and an oddly peaked roof. Levant Bland brought in wood beams to help unify the ceiling and bring in more consistent lighting. She created a more cohesive workspace with a peninsula and prep sink piece, upgraded equipment and a more neutral color scheme.
Homeowner Helen Beckner says, because her family loves to cook, they put a great deal of thought into what their dream kitchen would include. Levant Bland helped make that vision a reality, she says.
Because the space has some quirks to it, we knew that we needed someone with creativity and vision to design a kitchen that was functional as well as beautiful, she says. Before hiring Lauren, I met with seven other kitchen designers. Lauren was the only one to come up with a solution to our issues on the spot in our first meeting before I even hired her.
Lauren has a keen eye and a unique ability to visualize a space when she enters it. She knew the minute she walked into my original kitchen that the space needed beams to unify it.
