The Mill at Broadway | Interior Designer Introduction - Video
Finding a dream home can be challenging, but the greater hurdle is getting the right designer to decorate it. A house is not a home, till you and your interior designer make it one. The entire process can be difficult.
But it shall not be so tough now, claims Shailesh Goswami, founder and chief executive officer, of Hyderabad-based interior designing technology start-up Renderlogy.
With a strong technological core, Renderlogy offers online decor solutions and aspires to make interior designing for the mid and affordable segment simple. Claiming to be the world's first online, automated interior designer, Renderlogy presents end-to-end solutions to customers.
He hired IMRB International (formerly Indian Market Research Bureau) to conduct research on the interior design sector after tracking it for the past 10 years.
"As part of the research, I spoke to around 30 interior designers, 250 users and 50 furniture vendors to know the knitty-gritty of the sector. I noticed the most established architects aspire to move up the value chain, thereby leaving the mid-space clients to the mercy of local carpenters and a general lack of accountability in this fragmented sector," Goswami said.
Renderlogy aims to simplify and transform the home decor sector through innovative technology, he added.
The company currently operates in the B2B (business-to-business) segment. While customers of four major builders are using its services, it has talked to 20 builders across the country to offer its services.
Goswami said its current focus is to stabilise on its B2B business, while putting all their energies behind the upcoming B2C (business-to-consumer) solution launch in May or June.
The core engine for its soon-to-be launched B2C interior designing portal was built in-house using its patent-pending Interiors Definition Technology. The free-for-registration B2C portal will enable the end-user to click-drag-and-drop to customise and virtually see how his/her planned affordable house would look like.
Financials The interior designing and home decor market in India is estimated at about Rs 1,25,000 crore. With increasing income levels and urbanisation, Goswami said, this sector is going to grow.

Robert Van Winkle aka Vanilla Ice, 47, the man behind that 90s mega hit, has turned interior designer. Yes, really. He talks pools with pizza ovens, Da Vinci-style kitchen ceilings, and baths big enough for two
I never in a million years thought I'd end up being into interior design. But 18 years ago, I started working on house construction and picked up great tips from the designers I'd hire to do the decor. Eventually I thought I could save money and do it better myself...
I do it up to an incredibly high standard, and sell on. Ill design it from scratch, and then my architect and I will order the materials and start building. With every single one I always think this is so amazing, I cant sell it! I get a little bit attached, but I have to move on. Ive learned that I like having the money! And besides, I cant live in all of em
Its a lazy river, so you hop onto a raft, sit there with a pia colada, and let it take you on a journey. Youll go under bridges, pass through a cave thats lit with fibre optic lights and has music playing, then theres a tiki hut out in the middle where you can watch TV, sit in the hot tub and marinate.Theres even a pizza oven. I come up with the design ideas, then my team and I put it together.
I wanted somewhere you can wander around naked without being seen. I put this area in, so you can go outside and get a massage in the sunshine, or whatever its a sexy bathroom. The tub is great; you can fit more than one person in there.
I do have a feminine touch when it comes to design, because its the woman who makes the decision when a couple buys a house. I put in incredible bathrooms, and shoe closets. Then the woman will go, "Honey, were buying this one!" and the guy will go, "OK, where do I sign?"
Which I designed myself, and its in my own house in Palm Beach, Florida. My whole family loves that room. Weve got the first Mitsubishi hi-def, 4k projector, which doesnt even come out until 2018.
I like watching motocross, while my daughters (Dusti Rain, 16, and KeeLee Breeze, 14) watch all the modelling and runway reality shows. Its not a man cave, so everyones allowed. People come over for Monday night football parties its basically a giant TV room.
So the books in the library are all red. I like my houses to have southwest exposure, so you can see the sunset. In Florida, thats a huge deal its important the homeowner can see the sunset from his garden or pool.
I stage my houses so a buyer can just walk in and not have to change a thing. Im building a jellyfish aquarium in a house right now, its in a huge tank, and you could stare at it for hours I sell a lifestyle. Ive done well out of these investments, but for me, its not just about the money, it makes me feel great when someone walks into one of my properties and says, "I love it Ill take it!"
