Garrison Hullinger Interior Design (GHID), the Portland-based, award-winning design firm, announced today that it has been hand-selected by Pinnacle Management to design and create upgrade packages for Waterfront Pearl (WFP) as its condominium units re-enter the sales market. These packages will be uniquely selected by the buyer upon closing and are comprised of various interior dcor improvements; from new flooring and light fixtures to custom closet systems. Waterfront Pearl will provide the funds and thoughtfully crafted upgrade packages that GHID has designed, but its up to the buyers to tailor the upgrades so that they reflect their lifestyle.
GHID is very excited that we were approached for the unique design opportunity to update the interior dcor of the model units and conference room, as well as be the exclusive interior designers offering upgrade packages at WFP, says Garrison Hullinger, owner and Principal Designer of GHID.
Designing for condo buildings or high-rises is not new to the interior design and interior decorating industries, but is an offering that is new to GHIDs rapidly growing company. This growth not only includes new facets of design, such as multi-family housing and commercial design, but also new design personnel. Eric Engstrom, founder of EDG Interior Architecture + Design died June 15 after a long battle with cancer. He was 70.
An award-winning interior designer and graphic artist, Engstrom served as the president of IIDA from 2005 to 2006, was a member of the board of trustees of the Rhode Island School of Design, and was named a member of the Hospitality Design Magazine Platinum Circle.
Engstrom began his career as graphic designer after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, and went on to design iconic rock posters for bands like The Who. He later developed a passion for interior design and founded the Engstrom Design Group in 1987 in Marin County, California. Alongside business partner Jennifer Johanson, Engstrom created an acclaimed design firm known for restaurant and hospitality projects around the globe. He retired in 2007 to devote his time to art, travel, and photography.
Eric was a true renaissance manan original hipster who appreciated the undiscovered art in lifeAmerican back roads, stray graffiti, even leftover gift-wrap, Johanson, the firms president and CEO, said in a statement. His passions encompassed Ducati motorcycles, rock and roll culture, great cuisine, Japanese baseball and, of course, interior design. He had a unique way of seeing and sharing what he found through his work.

Eric Engstrom of Fairfax died on June 15, 2013. He was 70.
Award-winning graphic and interior designer Eric Engstrom, retired founder of EDG Interior Architecture + Design in San Rafael, died Saturday at his home in Fairfax after a long battle with cancer. He was 70.
For 20 years, Mr. Engstrom and his business partner, Jennifer Johanson, developed a design firm that focused on restaurant and hospitality projects internationally.
For the past dozen years, Mr. Engstrom spent time driving Route 66 and other blue highways, photographing bypassed towns, abandoned barns and Americana landscapes, creating mixed-media art pieces that were shown at Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station and in other exhibits.
Born in 1942 in Plymouth, Mass., Mr. Engstrom received his bachelor of fine arts degree in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and did graduate work in art and design at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. Working as a graphic designer for rock promoters, he designed iconic concert posters for the Who and other classic bands that are now collector pieces.
Mr. Engstrom developed a passion for interior design with a graphic flair while living in Honolulu in the early and mid 1970s. After moving to San Francisco in 1978, he worked for several architects before founding Engstrom Design Group in Marin in 1987.
Mr. Engstrom was a member of the Hospitality Design Magazine Platinum Circle and was a fellow and international president of the International Interior Design
