Dowry death? Interior decorator kills self at East Delhi home - November 14, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

New Delhi, Nov. 13 -- A 22-year-old interior decorator, who had been married earlier this year, was found dead in mysterious circumstances at her east Delhi residence early on Monday morning, police said.

While her in-laws claimed she had committed suicide due to depression, the victim's family said she was harassed for dowry by her husband and his family.

The victim, identified as Payal Durga, was allegedly found hanging from the ceiling fan at her house in Shakarpur's Bank Enclave around 5:30am.

She used to work as a freelance interior decorator.

"According to her husband, who runs a small furniture business, she committed suicide by using a stole to hang herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom. No suicide note has been recovered," said an officer.

Since the period of marriage was found to be below seven years, an enquiry into the case has been ordered.

Her body has been sent for a post mortem examination.

With a makeover as bait, he makes off with laptops, phones - November 10, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Conman cooks up convincing story to dupe interior decorator

Posing as a prospective client, a conman used a local online business service portal and plenty of chutzpah to dupe an interior decorator, making away with two laptops and mobile phones on Thursday.

The conman, calling himself Ravi Kumar, contacted A. Shahabuddin, owner of V Five Interior Solutions, seeking quotation to do up a commercial building he had supposedly bought.

He got Mr. Shahabuddins number by calling Just Dial saying he was looking for an interior designer. From the list he got, he chose Mr. Shahabuddin and asked him to come to a four-storey building in Victoria Layout.

Overwhelmed by the offer, Mr. Shahabuddin and a colleague went to the building to meet Ravi Kumar, who by then had convinced the security guard he was buying the building from the current owner. The impressed guard permitted the trio to inspect the building. As they were about to go up, Ravi Kumar asked the other two to deposit their electronic gadgets with the guard citing security reasons.

    Disappearing act

While they were on the second floor, Ravi Kumar excused himself saying he had to make a call and collected the visitors bags, which contained two laptops and two expensive mobile phones. He told the security guard he would be back soon.

The fraud came to light when Mr. Shahabuddin and his colleague came down after inspecting the building, only to find Ravi Kumar and their bags missing. They tried to call him but his phone was switched off.

The shocked duo rushed to the Ashoknagar police station to file a complaint. Though the police lent a patient ear, they refused to file the case asking them to first get Ravi Kumars photograph.

When I told them, how could we have taken his photograph and we only have his phone number, the police insisted on a photograph to get the complaint registered, Mr. Shahabuddin told The Hindu. They reluctantly registered a case when Mr. Shahabuddin contacted a senior police officer for help.

Bay Area Interior Designer Kristina Wolf is Featured in the October Issue of California Home & Design - November 10, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

California Home & Design magazine has featured celebrated Bay Area interior decorator Kristina Wolf of Kristina Wolf Design in the October issue. The entire issue is dedicated to Californias highly inventive designers, transforming industrial and commercial spaces into comfortable, modern homes.

Berkeley, CA (PRWEB) November 07, 2012

He had lived in San Francisco for 11 years, but didnt feel that it was home until he bought this house, said Kristina Wolf. Now he has a place to entertain friends and clients, and have dinner parties. Coming home is now a joy for this client.

Much of what makes the space so quaint and distinctive is still alive in the now thriving and spacious residence.

The 20-foot-long fire pole to the right of the fireplace has a removable cover for insurance reasons, but homeowner Holger Arnold admits that he and his friends have tried it out, as said in California Home & Design. John Hundts symbol-and-diagram-filled painting plus a coffee table imprinted with the periodic table speak to Arnolds inner science geek. I wanted to display things that spoke to the buildings industrial past, he explains,.

Another notable element from the historic buildings past is the shelving that lines the new homes dining room.

The shelves that run along the dining room were once used for firefighters gear, says Wolf. The shelf sizes seem unusual, but they were built for boots, helmets and other equipment of that era.

The article features a host of Californias top commercial interior designers and demonstrates how old buildings can be updated to fit todays lifestyles and help meet future growing housing demands by incorporating creative design techniques to convert these properties into modern living spaces.

The October issue of California Home & Design is available at newsstands in the East Bay Area and locally at the San Francisco Design Center.

For more information about Kristina Wolf Design and her teams ability to marry their expertise with each clients individual taste and vision of commercial and residential spaces please visit http://www.kristinawolfdesign.com/ or call (510) 848-8773.
