THE HOME security business is booming in Griffith following a spike in break and enters in September, October and November.
HOME SECURITY BOOM: Griffith home security provider Eacom has logged an increase in domestic inquiries over recent months. Technicians, such as James Fraser, can install the wireless home security system, which is in high demand.
THE HOME security business is booming in Griffith following a spike in break and enters in September, October and November.
Since October, Eacom a Griffith-based home security company has experienced a 25 to 30 per cent increase in domestic inquiries.
Eacom general manager Adrian Lucas said residents were "particularly interested" in buying the DSC Fully Wireless home security system.
Griffith police Detective Tim Clark said local police were looking to work closely with the community to combat property offences.
In December police made "a number of key arrests" resulting in a decline in break and enters across the region.
"All of the police here have worked very hard to find the offenders, lock them up and put them before the court," detective Clark said.
While police are "very pleased" with their efforts, they believe a number of known suspects are still at large.

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -
A video posted on social media has a neighborhood on alert for the suspicious man lurking around a home claiming to be a pool man.
Friday night, deputies with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office reviewed the home security video taken in the Brantley Point neighborhood off West Lake Brantley Road. Deputies are trying to figure out who it is and why he was there.
A homeowner told Local 6 she's too afraid to be identified while the suspicious man remains unknown.
"Why you going over there? What are you looking for?" the homeowner said as she watched security video of the man walking all around her house uninvited.
Thursday morning, her security cameras caught the man's every move. He was seen going straight for the back, to the pool, like he's there to work. The problem is, he is not her pool man.
"I know the damn pool guy," she said. "He's pretending to be the pool guy. Like I don't know who the pool guy is. Seriously, dude."
On the video, you can see the man wandering around the back of her house and the sides just before she came home. Once he noticed she was home, he is seen walking to his truck, where she confronts him. That's when he claims her pool guy sent him there, but when he couldn't name her pool company, she knew something was wrong.
In fact, she told Local 6, her pool guy never sent anyone to the house.
The video has sparked a lot of questions on social media and neighborhood watch groups. The man does not steal or try to break in. But the homeowner thinks he was casing her house.

Living room, side doors, among best places to put them
Posted YESTERDAY, 9:04 PM Updated TODAY, 3:56 AM
SAN ANTONIO - Home surveillance systems have increased in popularity, with more homeowners installing them to monitor activity, and catch crooks in the act.
Tim Krebs, spokesman for security company Protect America, said 2014 saw three-times more home cameras installations than 2013.
I think it's because they're more accessible, they're easier to use, they're less expensive now than they've ever been, Krebs said. And they've also caught up to the modern lifestyle.
Krebs also said, where a camera is placed can also be crucial to a homes security. He recommends placing a camera in a central location within the home, such as a living room.
If someone were to come in most likely they would have to come through this area to get to the kitchen, to get to another bedroom, to get to anywhere in the home, Krebs said. So we've placed this security camera right here, so if they were to come into the home, most likely they'd have to cross the path of this camera.
And while the front door is a common spot for intruders to enter, Krebs said the back or side doors are equally important.
It's very difficult to predict where they'll come, but yes, it's very common for someone to come through a side window, Krebs said. This is the prime place for a burglar to have some privacy and really go to work on your window."
