Mobile, Alabama (PRWEB) April 14, 2014
National home security company Protect America has announced its joint partnership with the University of South Alabama and participation in the charitable Pay It Forward program. The Company and University have joined together to help charities in Mobile, Alabama in a unique way. Pay It Forward spans the entire spring semester at the University of South Alabama, beginning in January and ending in May.
The Pay It Forward program is a philanthropic campaign funded and created by Protect America to aid local charities in university communities. University communications students, under the council of professors and Protect America marketing staff, are tasked with creating design work, social media strategy, public relations, advertising, or any communications tasks needed by the charities. Protect America representatives will travel to Mobile, Alabama in mid-April to attend the final presentations as well as meet the students and charities.
There are two outcomes here, says Protect America Corporate Communications Manager Tim Krebs. Charities, who might not otherwise be able to afford it, receive help with their creative and communication needs. At the same time - university students create real work for their personal portfolios, which makes them more marketable in their job searches after graduation. Communication students at the University of South Alabama are extremely inventive and known for their work, which is an important factor in choosing partners for this project. The University of South Alabama has always sought to apply knowledge in service to the people of Alabama as citizens in a global community, and were delighted to join them in doing so.
Protect America, a national home security and home automation corporation, strives to improve the quality of home and life. The company also wishes to help the next generation of professionals while aiding charities and nonprofits around the country.

You spend time and money to create a nice home. How can you protect it from intruders without it costing a fortune? It's easier than you think.
Chris Hsiung, a lieutenant with the Mountain View Police Department in California, says that the best home security involves multiple deterrents to dissuade opportunists and thieves from making your home a target.
Contrary to what you see on TV, Hsiung says most homes are burglarized during the day when residents are out. "Burglars do not want to confront anybody. At the first sign of occupancy, they're gone," he says. "They just want to grab property and sell it. The criminals know that when someone is in the house, it changes the crime classification."
Because of this, thieves frequently pose as solicitors, he says. If no one answers the door, that's their cue to head around back and break in. Outsmart a thief with these home security tactics for less.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 13, 2014
A home invasion is 400 times more likely to occur than a school fire. If schools deem it necessary to run fire drills, how much more should families see fit to run home invasion drills? In their recent article entitled, How to Run a Home Invasion Drill: Practicing the Plan, Home Security Northwest explains the recommended steps for practicing preplanned safety procedures, to prepare families in the event of a break in.
The first step is to designate an initiation signal, a noise or phrase that tells everyone that its time to rush to the safe room. Once inside, Home Security recommends that the family talk through each item included in the safe room so that all of the family members know what to expect in the actual event of an emergency.
Before leaving the safe room, the article explains, Discuss the exact route everyone should take to get out of the house. Whether its through a window or out the back door, everyone should have a clear picture of where to after everyone exits the safe room.
Finally, the article emphasizes that fact that the family should designate a specific assembly point outside. Once the family has escaped the home, moving everyone away from the scene of the crime is imperative. A swift and organized transition to a safe location in the event of an emergency requires planning ahead.
Home Security Northwest is dedicated to keeping families safe from the threat of a home invasion. Their sound tips and effective service offerings will equip any home with persuasive deterrents, causing any curious burglar to look for an easier target.

HOME Secretary Theresa May made a flying visit to Rugby for a tour of the town centre's CCTV centre.
She spoke with control staff and the rangers during her hour-long visit on Friday, and spoke with Rugby First boss Aftab Gaffar about the successful ShopNet and PubWatch schemes.
"She liked the fact that we had created an umbrella system where rangers, CCTV, Pubwatch, Shopnet and the police all work together in providing a deterrent to criminals and ultimately a safe and welcoming town centre for all those who live, work or visit Rugby," he said.
"As a BID she recognised the excellent work we were doing for the town and felt that we offered a best practise model for the rest of the country and something we can indeed be very proud of in Rugby."
