Saanich police are looking for a handyman who allegedly defrauded three clients in the last year.
Nelson Mendonca, 34, is named as a person of interest in three cases reported to Saanich police involving landscaping and interlocking concrete paving work.
Police allege Mendonca has approached homeowners offering his handyman services, but has never completed the work once a downpayment was made.
Police believe Mendonca lives in Greater Victoria but his whereabouts is unknown. The courts have issued a warrant for his arrest to face three counts of fraud under $5,000.
Court records show Mendonca has been found guilty of frauds, break and enter and breaching court conditions multiple times, going back to the mid 1990s. In July 1999, he was convicted on nine counts of fraud under $5,000 and two counts of fraud over $5,000.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Nelson Mendonca, or thinks they've been defrauded, is asked to call Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Using skills he gleaned through a well-traveled life starting on a farm in Ireland, a Rio Rancho man has built a handyman service from start-up to three full-time employees in a year and a half.
John Whitney runs Mr. Fix It Irish Handyman LLC, which serves Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, with occasional jobs in Santa Fe or the East Mountains. He and his employees handle remodeling, carpentry, electrical services, plumbing, wall repair, painting, roofing, swamp cooler repair and landscaping services.
I was always able to do a lot of things, and what I cant do, I can pick up pretty fast, he said. And the guys I employ are even more qualified than I am, so that helps. (I) try to build a good team.
Whitneys handyman training began as he grew up on a farm in northwest Ireland.
Youre using your hands from the age of 4, building stuff, knocking stuff down, building stuff again, he said.
In high school, Whitney learned trades such as metal work and drafting.
After he came to the United States in 1999, he worked in Massachusetts as a roofer and then as an engineer on pipelines and tunnels in California, before moving to New Mexico and working as a cowboy on a ranch near Santa Rosa. About three years ago, he moved to Rio Rancho to be with Lindsey, his then-girlfriend, a City of Vision native.
Whitney worked as a landscape maintenance employee at Santa Ana Star Casino, and then as an estimator for an asphalt company.
Two years ago, he enrolled in Central New Mexico Community College to pursue an associate degree in construction management. He found a full-time college schedule wasnt compatible with his job at the asphalt company.
So, Whitney said, he got a job as an extra for The Lone Ranger and started renovating his yard.

KUSA - Two weeks ago, 9NEWS investigated a tip about a kitchen remodel gone wrong, and a homeowner's chunk of savings gone with it.
Now, as a result of our original report and an act of generosity, that wrong has been made right.
"They walked away from my job, this was supposed to be my kitchen," said
Brian Tritz was out thousands of dollars and left with little more than a mess in his kitchen.
"It was just complete and total chaos," he said.
He had no other choice at the time, not anymore.
"We got a kitchen. We cooked in here last night, and we're excited about it," Tritz said.
Tritz's kitchen had been upside down for more than two months. He fronted Eddie's Home Services $20,000 to do the job. It wound up undone and three weeks overdue when the company had a labor issue.
Tritz's luck changed after his story ran on 9NEWS. Mark Maloney was watching.
"I felt horrible," Maloney said. "Brian and his wife have three kids."

Remains of 2 people found at Rogue River ranch

A burly 65-year-old woman allegedly murdered her former handyman and at least one other person and dismembered their bodies at her rural Rogue River farm in separate crimes over the past 17 months, authorities say.
It was the recent use of an Oregon Trail card issued to one of the suspected victims, 56-year-old Robert Haney, that brought detectives to Susan Monica's doorstep, where the grisly case began to unfold Friday, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators have found what they believe to be the remains of Haney, a handyman who family members said answered Monica's online advertisement for work, and an unidentified second person at Monica's 20-acre ranch off West Evans Creek Road, according to the sheriff's department.
Investigators continue to comb the property for more evidence, including the possibility of other victims, and the search of the property could drag on for several days, if not weeks, sheriff's detectives said.
There was no direct evidence of other victims, "but we can't rule that out at this time," sheriff's Detective Julie Denney said.
Denney said investigators believe they know the identity of the second victim but declined to disclose any more information, including whether the victim was male or female.
