We've known for a while now that Amazon wanted to start offering local services. Now, the store for everything is selling TV-mounting services ahead of all the TV sales on Black Friday. And you know what? That sounds like a pretty useful addition to the Amazon family.

The company is now testing Amazon Local Services in nine different cities. If you search for "tv mounts," a little box pops that asks if you a TV mount installed. Clicking through takes you to a list of all the available TV-mounting services and the option to add the service to your cart. Amazon even offers its "happiness guarantee" for the services so if the service stinks, you can take that up with Amazon instead of the local purveyor. Of course, you could also just do a Google search for "tv installation" or something, but that would require you to leave the Amazon ecosystem.

Honestly, TV-mounting services seem like they're kind of expensive in the New York City area (as are groceries through Amazon Fresh). But boy is this Amazon Local Services idea convenient! Just imagine if they rolled this into Amazon Prime, which is already the best deal in tech. Eventually, Amazon will help connect you to anyone from a plumber to a contractor, and the company will almost definitely eat the lunch of Angie's List in the process. Amazon will sell you an air conditioner, and then itll find someone to install it for you, too.

The online retailer is connecting customers with local appliance installers like plumbers and electricians with a new offering called Amazon Local Services.

After adding an item to their virtual cart, customers will see installation offers from Amazon after buying items like an air conditioner or a car stereo. A recent search for air conditioners in New York yielded installation price options in the range of $99 to $120. Each offering came with appointment time preferences which then added the installation cost to the sticker cost of the air conditioner.

An anonymous source briefed on the plan told the Wall Street Journal that the service is now offered in New York, Los Angeles and Seattle. Amazons new service will likely help the company compete with brick-and-mortar stores and other online retailers by making it more simple to install complicated appliances. It could also drive business to local installers.

One electrician in Los Angeles who had signed onto the program told the Journal that when he lands a job through Amazon Local Services, he pays Amazon a fee.

NEXT year guidance will be issued to families concerned about the safety of their relatives in care homes about how to secretly install CCTV cameras.

Care home watchdog, the Care Quality Commission, will issue guidance explaining how to best monitor staff after a spate of prosecutions, including one in Borough Green, Sevenoaks, where abuse was caught on camera after staff raised concerns.

In June, handyman Michael Fleming, 66, was jailed for three years for sexually abusing a 'mentally-disordered' resident inWestbank Care Home, after a nurse who was suspicious of his behavioursecretly filmed him andcaught him on camera touching the patient inappropriately.

The nurse responsible for his downfall won the praise of Judge Jeremy Clarey for her sense of duty and presence of mind in doing what she did.

Now official guidelines are being preparedto help families install secret cameras, a decisionwhich was signed off by the CQC board yesterday.

The advice will be aimed at helping families maintain high standards of care for the elderly and assisting managers who suspect members of staff are abusing patients.

The CQC's Chief Inspector Andrea Sutcliffe, said: "We know that exploring the potential use of hidden and public cameras in care homes and other care settings is a really sensitive issue and one that provokes a huge range of debate and opinion.

"The information we will publish for providers makes clear the issues we expect them to take into account for example, consulting with people using the services and staff if they are considering installing hidden or public cameras.

"I hope the information we will publish for the public will help them make the right decisions in difficult circumstances and I look forward to making sure that this information is written in a way that is most useful for them."
