New Small Business Owner Says, I Am Thrilled with My Decision, I Wish I Had Done It Sooner - March 12, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) March 12, 2014

Window Genie announces the grand opening of its newest location in Durham/Chapel Hill, NC on Monday March 17th. Jill Fuller is the owner/operator. Window Genie is a nationally ranked home services franchise offering window cleaning, window tinting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and much more. Window Genie of Durham/Chapel Hill will service the surrounding areas of Carrboro, Hillsborough, Chapel Hill and Durham. This is Window Genies third location in the greater Raleigh area.

Before joining the Window Genie team, Fuller spent 7 years in manufacturing, overseeing national accounts for a major home improvement store. Its been a great experience, Fuller said, but Ive always wanted a bit more ownership in what I did every day. I finally was able to step out of my comfort zone and seriously pursue my dream of business ownership.

Fuller spent the last two years doing her due diligence, researching business opportunities. I thought I would start a business from scratch, but soon realized it would take years to establish a working business plan with systems, marketing and a strong website. I started thinking that reinventing the wheel was not going to work so I focused on existing businesses and franchises. It wasnt until I began working with my franchise consultant that things really took off and became clear to me.

Fuller worked with Mark Laughlin of The You Network. They discussed her strengths, weaknesses, goals and interests to discover what type of business would best suit her. From our first conversation it was just amazing, Fuller said of working with Laughlin. I felt like I was in the right hands and could really trust him to guide me in the right direction. I credit him fully with taking me, a person who wanted to do something but just didnt exactly know what, and finding the best match for my success and happiness.

Window Genie was among the list of businesses that Laughlin presented to Fuller. Ive always been very customer oriented, not treating people as simply a work order. When speaking to Rik (Richard Nonelle, Window Genies Founder and CEO) he said something that really clicked with me. He said we dont go after the job we go after the customer. I really appreciated how much Window Genie valued its customers, doing the right thing and doing things more professionally than the competition, it just all made sense to me and was so in line to how I would do business. One of the top reasons Fuller was so drawn to Window Genies business model was the potential for long-term, loyal customer relationships. Window Genie offers multiple services that most people want and need, and theyre affordable. Its as simple as building relationships, delivering on expectations, and the customer will keep coming back. I also like that I can serve my community through creating jobs and building a team.

After meeting Window Genies full corporate staff, Fullers decision had been made. I am thrilled with my decision, I wish I had done it sooner, Fuller said. Window Genies team was so honest with me throughout my decision making process, no games. I felt I was getting myself involved with such a professional, genuine company and its a relief. I always knew the importance of enjoying and trusting the people you work with, and now Ill really be able to experience that. Finding a satisfying work-life balance was never something I was great at but Im feeling optimistic that Window Genie business ownership will allow all of that to change.

Jill Fuller and her team at Window Genie of Durham/Chapel Hill officially open for business on Monday March 17th. For more information, please contact Jill Fuller at jfuller(at)windowgenie(dot)com or 919-909-8193. Also, please visit http://durham.windowgenie.com/.

Let this robot clean your gutters - March 10, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

I recently bought an iRobot floor cleaner, and while digging around on their site, I found they also sell a little robot that can take over the chore of cleaning out your gutters for you. The iRobot Looj Gutter Cleaning Robot is only about 2 tall X 3 wide by 15.6 long, so it fits into most gutters. Its made to withstand the wet conditions found in gutters, and it has a four-stage auger to clean out the leaves and gunk clogging them. It has a2600mAh lithium-ion battery that provides enough power to clean 200 linear feet of gutters per charge. It can clean 50 feet of gutter in five minutes while you stay safely on the ground. Youll have to climb up to get it started, of course, but the Looj has a belt clip to keep your hands free for safer climbing, and youll be able to control it with the removable handle that serves as a wireless remote with a 50 reach. (You can also control it manually, if you prefer.)

If you order from the iRobot site before11:59 P.M. (EST) on March 16, 2014, youll get a free accessory kit with extra ejectors and breakers (to change the cleaning style) and a soft storage bag. The iRobot Looj is $299.99.

New Business Owner Says "Layoff Was a Blessing, I Have My Life Back" - March 9, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) March 08, 2014

Window Genie announces the grand opening of their newest location in Princeton, NJ on Monday March 17th. Robin McKenna is the owner/operator. Window Genie is a nationally ranked home services franchise offering window cleaning, window tinting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning and much more. Window Genie of Central NJ and Bucks County, PA will service the Princeton area and surrounding communities, as well as Bucks County, PA. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday March 18th at 5:00pm at the Princeton Chamber of Commerce at 182 Nassau St. Suite #301 in Princeton. All are welcome to attend.

Before joining the Window Genie team, McKenna spent 20 years at a medical device company in sales and marketing, more recently in global marketing developing and commercializing products worldwide. In July 2012 her position was eliminated. McKenna said, I did what most people do after a layoff. I looked for a similar job because its what I was used to. I knew in my heart that I could not go back and feel secure or happy, though. After some time off, McKenna realized the blessing in disguise she was granted by being unemployed. I had always wanted to be home more while my children were in high school and my daughter was a sophomore and my son was in 6th grade at the time. Also, unfortunately my parents were having some health issues. I was granted this wish I had always had in the back of my mind to be home spending time with family. My mom would bring my dad to my house on her way to work to spend time with me and attend my childrens swim meets and other functions; it was truly a blessing to spend the precious time together as I decided what to do next.

McKenna was able to take away a piece of advice from her father before he passed away. He told her, Take your passions and put them to work for yourself. McKenna said, His words and support really meant something to me. It helped me realize that its all about family, quality of life and working for you because the return is based on your efforts and decisions.

McKenna stopped looking for another corporate job in June 2013 and began focusing solely on business ownership with her franchise coach, Bill McGuire of The Entrepreneurs Source. I began looking around online at business opportunities in late 2012 and must have left a cookie somewhere because I was approached by Bill. If he hadnt contacted me, I dont know where I would be now. His guidance was so essential to getting me where I am today at Window Genie. They discussed McKennas strengths, weaknesses, goals and interests to determine which business models would fit her best. Window Genie was one of them and, shined amongst all others from the get-go, says McKenna.

What stood out to McKenna about the Window Genie business was the ability to offer multiple services to repeat customers. She said, This would give me an opportunity to build relationships in the community and continue to serve that customer for years. Also, with the many different services Window Genie offers, theres something for every home and every budget; I like that.

Window Genies strong culture and give-back program, Windows 4 Wishes stood out to McKenna. She said, The corporate team has such a strong, well defined culture. Its something Ill be sure I reflect in my business. When I hire a technician Ill let them know that we work hard and we play hard, we contribute to our community and take pride in our work, values that were instilled in me by my mom and dad. These were values so clearly embedded in the Window Genie culture and I felt it just even talking to existing franchise partners during my discovery process. Everyone I talked to had such fantastic things to say about the business and the corporate team. It feels good to invest in team Genie; its an extended family that not only cares about the success of my business but the happiness and fulfillment it brings me.

Window Genie located in Princeton, NJ officially opens for business on Monday March 17th. McKenna is excited, saying, I cant wait to get back to work and be able to provide people with things they really need and help improve the homes in my area. Im providing jobs to people in my community and helping them build skills they can use in the future. Im a planner and organizer so I feel prepared to take on the spring cleaning season after all the snow weve had and also being very customer oriented, Im excited to just get out there and start building relationships based on professionalism and quality. Two years ago I was unhappy and felt stuck in the corporate world. Being laid off was a blessing that led me to Window Genie. I have my life back and control of my own destiny.

For more information about Window Genie of Central NJ and Bucks County PA, please contact Robin McKenna at 609-917-4338 or rmckenna(at)windowgenie(dot)com.

Cambridge rogue trader Jason Pateman of Fen Road must now do honest days' work after court hearing - March 6, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A Cambridge rogue trader will now do some honest work after he admitted fraud and money laundering.

Jason Pateman, 23, of Fen Road, Cambridge has been sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for 18 months after he pleaded guilty to the offences committed in Cambridgeshire. He was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months, pay 440 compensation and pay 500 towards prosecution costs.

Pateman, who trades as Total Property Maintenance, preyed on older and vulnerable residents, finding customers by cold calling at their doors offering home maintenance services. He offered anything from roof repairs and gutter cleaning to garden wall maintenance, with work frequently being of a substandard quality.

This case follows an earlier prosecution of Pateman by Cambridgeshire Trading Standards in 2010 for failing to provide seven-day cancellation notices to his customers. Despite being given a conditional discharge in that case, Pateman has continued to carry out his activities without providing the requisite seven-day cancellation notices to his customers. These notice requirements are there to protect customers from high pressure selling, allowing them time to consider whether they really want work done.

Cllr Mathew Shuter, the county councils trading standards chief, said Rogue traders such as Jason Pateman prey on some of Cambridgeshires most vulnerable residents, winning their trust with their friendly manner, and then taking their savings in exchange for shoddy, unnecessary work and deprive honest traders of work.
