Lentocha said business is looking up now that the warmer weather is here.

Late winter and early spring is usually when we get a lot of business, he said. This winter was so cold and had so much snow that we were down a little from last year, but in the past couple weeks weve seen business spike.

Lentocha said his future plans include growing the business in Southington area and pursuing remodeling work for small businesses.

Were trying to get noticed a bit more in Southington, but were being patient, he said. Hartford is our main location, we built our business there and its where all our warehouses are. Were looking to get more into full remodeling so were participating with Hartfords streetscape project. Weve got some upcoming work for Nixs Kitchen in the near future.

According to Lentocha, Elite Flooring Specialists lives up to its name by offering products and services that are a cut above the rest.

Virginia-based flooring company to supply new 49ers stadium - April 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A Virginia-based manufacturing company is set to complete more than an acre of wood flooring by May for several sections of the new San Francisco 49ers' Levi Stadium.

Nearly 45,000 square feet of acrylic-infused white and red oak, supplied by Nydree Flooring in Forest, has been installed in San Francisco's first new NFL stadium since 1960. The wood will be used for club seating, a fan store area and the Hall of Fame, setting the tone for viewers' feet as they survey tributes to football legends, such as 49ers quarterback Joe Montana.

About 20 percent of the wood used will be reclaimed red oak, recycled from out-of-use barns, warehouses and other buildings, said Jason Brubaker, co-owner of Nydree Flooring and vice president of sales and marketing.

The design, he said, has been in the works for nearly two years but actual installation began late January this year.

"We don't get too many like this," Brubaker said. "Every year, there are a few of this size, but they are definitely very helpful for overall sales and production."

As an engineered-wood manufacturing company, Nydree Flooring does business with a network of independent agents to catch bids and find new work. After a product was picked for the flooring and went to bid, R.E. Cuddie, the company installing the wood, chose Brubaker's company.

Although Nydree Flooring is based in Forest, its manufacturing plant is in Karthaus, Pa. The manufacturing plant was originally in Region 2000 about three years ago, Brubaker said.

How Do I Keep Javelinas Away From My Plants? - April 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Each year, thousands of Arizona residents email or call Rosie Romeros radio show with questions about everything from preventing fires in their chimneys to getting rid of tree roots invading their sewer system. His goal is to provide answers that suit the specific lifestyle wherever someone lives in Arizona. Here are questions about home maintenance and improvement from the Tucson area.

Q: Javelinas travel very close to my home and yard at night. They often nibble on some of my favorite plants. Do you have any suggestions for keeping them away from my garden?

A: Javelinas love lush vegetation, tender young plants, bulbs, tubers, cacti, succulents and any plants that drop fruit or nuts. Prickly pears and flowering cactuses are among their particular favorites.

You can scare off javelinas by catching them in the act. But the problem is that they mainly graze in your yard at night, and no one wants to stay up all night to surprise them. So your best bet is to landscape with plants they wont eat; keep your gates closed; and never feed them. You can also fence off plants you want them to avoid. Some nurseries suggest sprinkling coyote urine products around favorite plants; some homeowners say that works.

Q: We are considering replacing the tile in our home with engineered hardwood floors. But we are snowbirds who leave Tucson from May to November every year when our house is totally closed up; during that time we use no air conditioning or other ventilation in our home. We have been told that hardwood could be damaged in this situation. What do you recommend?

A: Your lifestyle does present a serious problem. In Arizona, its very important before installation that your wood flooring be allowed to acclimate inside your house. Generally, any kind of wood material must sit in your house for about two weeks before being laid on the floor.

Once it is installed, you cannot leave your home for very long periods of time and turn off the air conditioning or heating while youre gone as seasonal residents tend to do. You have to continue to cool your home or there could be movement in your flooring. Instead of installing wood, perhaps you should consider travertine or some kind of tile. There is actually porcelain tile flooring now that closely imitates wood flooring.

Q: I have a 12-year-old house that Ive lived in for nine years. Ive noticed lots of ads and commercials for termite control services. I dont think Ive had termites yet, but are they a big issue in Arizona? Should I have my home checked?

A: Termites are active year-round in Arizona, but August through the fall is a time when they can be particularly active. Thats often when they shoot up exploratory mud tubes along your walls in search of wood products to feed on. A very popular phrase here in Arizona is: Its not if you will get termites, its when you will get them.

If your home is more than a few years old, you should start having annual termite inspections. You can also watch for signs of termites at work: small holes in wood or drywall, sagging wood floors or doors, and most important, those thin mud tubes on the exterior of your home or inside your garage. These tiny tubes are tan in color; termites often build them up or around solid objects to reach a food source.
