Praybeyt Benjamin 2 earns P172 million while Feng Shui grosses P88 million in four days - December 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Kris Aquino expressed gratitude for those who supported her latest movie, Feng Shui 2, as well as the movie of her son Bimby, The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin.

The TV host-actress made special mention of her ex-husband James Yap.

During the December 28 episode of The Buzz, Kris took this opportunity to thank James for attending the block screening of Praybeyt Benjamin 2, which is topbilled by Vice Ganda.

Thank you to James and Tita Mic. Effort yun on their part. Kasi when I text James, I said, Please bring Tita Mic kasi Bimb likes her. Um-effort na pumunta in a territory thats not really yours, said Kris, referring to James' girlfriend Michela Cazzola.

    Kris described James as supportive."

The ABS-CBN actress added that she feel content knowing that they she and her ex-husband are now on good terms with each other.

"Kapag ganun ang nararamdaman mo, supportive sa anak ko, okay na. Kampante ka na maganda ito. Move on.

It will be recalled that James Yap postponed his flight to Negros in order to watch the block screening of Bimby's movie on Christmas Day.

President Noynoy Aquino, the uncle of Bimby, also took the time to watch his nephew's second MMFF movie.

'Praybeyt Benjamin,' 'Feng Shui' earn P260M in 4 days - December 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

MANILA Kris Aquino thanked moviegoers for the continued success of her movie Feng Shui, as well as her son Bimbys movie The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin.

Speaking on The Buzz where she is one of the hosts, Aquino announced that Feng Shui has already earned P88 million in the box office, while The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin earned P172 million as of 3 p.m. Sunday.

Aside from Aquino, Feng Shui also features Coco Martin, who admitted that it was a challenge for him to do a horror film for the first time.

The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin stars Vice Ganda, Alex Gonzaga and Richard Yap.

The eight movies competing in the main section of the Metro Manila Film Festival premiered on Christmas Day.

Last Friday, MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino, who also heads the Metro Manila Film Festival executive committee, revealed the top four films in the box-office race.

In no particular order, Tolentino said the four films leading at the box office as of December 26 were: "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin," "Feng Shui" "My Big Bossing," and "Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles."

Tolentino refused to specify the rankings of the films, saying the executive committee is careful not to influence moviegoers by announcing a top favorite in terms of nationwide earnings.

Tolentino said the festival is likely to hit P1.2 billion in gross earnings when it closes on January 4.

MMFF 2014 box-office winners 'Praybeyt Benjamin 2', 'Feng Shui 2' get snubbed at the Awards Night - December 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

'Praybeyt Benjamin 2', 'Feng Shui 2' continue to rule the 40th MMFF 2014 box-office now with a combined gross of P260-million.

These movies are certified box-office winners, but sadly, they were heavily snubbed at the MMFF 2014 Awards Night or Gabi Ng Parangal held last night. They didn't win a single award.

Was it intentional on the part of the Metro Manila Filmfest committee to not give these 2 any awards since they are already lording the box-office? Maybe yes, to help other entries pick up in the box-office after winning many awards, but it could also be the other way, since 2 other films were also empty-handed last night: 'Shake, Rattle & Roll XV' and 'Muslim Magnum .357'.

It was the worst thing that happened for 'The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin' during the Awards Night. I was expecting this Vice Ganda starrer to at least get nominations for Tom Rodriguez and Alex Gonzaga as Best Supporting Actor and Actress, but sadly, their efforts were overlooked.

The nominees for Best Supporting Actor were Kean Cipriano for 'English Only, Please', Joey Marquez for 'Kubot: the Aswang Chronicles 2', Roi Vinzon for 'Muslim Magnum .357', Jose Manalo and Sef Cadayona for 'My Big Bossing'. Marquez won.

On the other hand, nominated for Best Supporting Actress were Cai Cortez ('English Only, Please'), Lotlot de Leon ('Kubot'), Nikki Gil ('My Big Bossing'), Chanda Romero ('SRR 15') and Carmi Martin ('Feng Shui 2'). Lotlot was named the winner.

Is TAPB the worst among the 8 entries in terms of cinematic quality? It's the least nominated film, getting just 1 nomination: Best Child Performer for Bimby Aquino Yap, who however lost to My Big Bossing's Ryzza Mae Dizon.

Chito Roo's 'Feng Shui 2', though it also won nothing despite being graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB), somehow fared better than TAPB, getting nominated in many categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Roo lost to 'English Only, Please' director Dan Villegas. Other nominees for Best Directing were Enzo Williams ('Bonifacio'), Erik Matti ('Kubot') and Jerrold Tarog ('SRR 15: Ulam episode').

Movies who were underperforming in the box-office the past 3 days will likely earn more now after collecting many awards last night. These are Best Picture winner 'Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo', with 8 awards, and especially, the 2nd Best Picture 'English Only, Please', which had 7 awards including Best Actor for Derek Ramsay and Best Actress for Jennylyn Mercado, who was sooo hot last night. (Can't blame Manila Mayor Joseph 'Erap' Estrada if he can't resist the urge while giving the trophy to her. Were you able to see that moment when Erap wanted to give Jennylyn many kisses?)

Chito Roo on Coco Martin in Feng Shui 2: Magaling ang kanyang pag-interpret - December 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The director relayed that working with the stars of the movie has been easy.

Direk Chito also commented on Cocos performance in what is the latters first horror film. I mean kailangan mo gumanon ng konti kasi it defines horror.

Overall, direk Chito remarked that Coco did a great job in the movie. Kasi hindi naman tayo Amercian horror na slash-slash yung mga supernatural na horror natin so madali siyang nakapag-adjust without crossing the line, without competing with Kris Aquino.

Coco Martin on Feng Shui 2: 'Gustong-gusto ko siya gawin' - December 26, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

He continued, "And after that hindi ko siya makalimutan kaya nong dumating 'yung time na nagkita kami ni ate Kris na nagpro-promo kami ng movie namin ni Sarah (Geronimo) kinausap ko siya, 'Ate Kris gawin natin 'yung Feng Shui kasi...' sabi ko 'Gustong-gusto ko siya gawin.' Sabi niya sige sabihin natin kay direk Chito (Roo), sabi ko 'Sige ate Kris pagtulung-tulongan natin.' After non nagtuluy-tuloy na."

Coco remarked that Feng Shui was always something he dreamed of doing. He also relayed that he always wanted to work with director Chito Roo.

He added that he really prepared himself before working with the director.
