    20. Year of the Snake not at all negative, says feng shui expert - January 21, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Monday January 21, 2013

PETALING JAYA: People should not view the coming Year of the Water Snake negatively as it has no bearing on their future or way of life.

Feng shui master and founder of the Malaysian Institute of Geomancy Sciences Master David Koh said the perception that the Year of the Snake was not as good as other years in the Chinese zodiac was not correct.

People should not be caught up with these hocus pocus. A lot of people are born in the Year of the Snake and they turned out great, he said.

He cited Soong Ching-ling, the wife of Chinas first president Sun Yat Sen, and former Communist Party of China chairman Mao Zedong as famous personalities born under the sign.

Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia adviser Datuk Ang Choo Hong said that in ancient times, humans and snakes were enemies and as such, the animal was perceived as dangerous and unfriendly.

However, he said in Buddhist scriptures, there are mentions of naga auspicious serpentine beings that could be either snakes or dragons.

In citing an example, he said a snake sheltered Buddha, who was meditating in a forest, from an oncoming storm.

The character of a person is determined by his karma, how he was brought up and his education rather than the year he was born in, he said.

Federation of Taoist Associations Malaysia president Tan Hoe Chieow rubbished such negative beliefs, saying that there was no such thing as a particular animal sign being totally bad.

C3D: Feng Shui in the Home - January 21, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

    By Emily J. Weitz

When Candace Vorhaus walked in to my new home, she found boxes stacked high and furniture at temporary angles. That was the perfect way to begin a Feng Shui consultation: with a clean slate. As we walked from room to room, she explained the Feng Shui principles, and how they could be applied to each room and to the overall layout of the home to maximize health, wealth, and happiness.

Vorhaus was an interior designer in the city for many years, trained at Parsons School of Design and educated in Paris. But after she had children, she decided to take some time to devote herself to that. And in the great networking space of the nursery school parking lot, she met someone who would propel her in a different direction.

Her husband was sick with prostate cancer, recalls Vorhaus. Still, he went to Hong Kong on business, and there he saw that every building uses Feng Shui. The expats who come in and dont use Feng Shui principles, their businesses end up deteriorating.

The man decided to give it a try, and he faxed the floor plans of his fabulous New York City apartment to a Feng Shui master.

He told him his health was going right out of the apartment, says Vorhaus. They called in a Feng Shui master, made the changes, and six months later he was cancer free. Its not that its a miracle cure. He was doing what the doctors said and going through treatment, but Feng Shui helps support you in your health.

Vorhaus was intrigued, and she wanted to learn how to incorporate Feng Shui principles into her design business as she got back to work. She studied with Feng Shui master RD Chin and watched how he transformed both her husbands midtown Manhattan office and her Sag Harbor home, and how their lives transformed in the process.

Its important to our lives that homes be set up in alignment with the energies of the earth and the universe to support our health and highest potentials, says Vorhaus. The missing link to peoples homes is the C3D: Color, Clutter, Chi, and Design. When you have those four elements working for you, youre supported to move forward in a positive way.

Site chosen because of 'feng shui' factor - January 17, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

GEORGE TOWN: The proposed offshore development project is meant to overcome the shortage of industrial land on the island, particularly where land reclamation is out of the question, said project consultant Nik Zamri Majid.

"After much thought, we recommended that concrete decks be constructed instead of reclaiming land. With the construction on stilts, a lot of problems would be resolved," he said.

"They include environmental damage to the mangroves and fishing grounds because the sea would not be affected.

"We will avoid the mangrove forests and provide necessary fishing facilities to the fishing community."

Nik Zamri said the project was supposed to be kept "under wraps" although groundwork involving engagement with NGOs, the fishing communities in Balik Pulau and government departments were ongoing.

He said Balik Pulau was "the choice of industrialists from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Macau".

"We cannot reveal who the investors are yet but they chose this site due to its `feng shui' factor," he said.

"They wanted the project to be on the water because it was good for business."

Nik Zamri said RM5 million would be spent on a detailed environmental impact assessment (DEIA) and the stakeholders, NGOs and public would be invited to give their feedback during public consultation.

"We have to make sure that issues of environment and fisher folk are addressed to convince the people. This is a 'bottom-up' method of engaging with the people."

Feng shui expert warns PNoy about his health - January 17, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

MANILA, Philippines President Benigno Aquino III should watch out for his health this year, according to a feng shui expert.

In an interview on The Bottomline with Boy Abunda that aired on Saturday night, feng shui consultant Marites Allen said the President must be especially careful during the months of August and October.

He has to watch his blood pressure and also anything about the heart, the eyes and the skin, she said.

Last year, Allen also predicted health problems for Aquino, who was born on the Chinese Year of the Rat.

At the start of the year (2012), we knew that the rat-born person, such as the President, was going to be visited by the Illness Star at the same time, to add to the pressures of the job that he has, Allen explained.

Aquinos health made the headlines last year such that Health Secretary Enrique Ona recommended that the President should take a break.

In October, during a state visit to Australia, Aquino had to leave a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Julia Gillard due to an allergy and a bum stomach.

The following month, allergic rhinitis and the flu kept the President from attending a meeting with International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde.

Aquino was also heard coughing frequently at the ASEAN summit in Cambodia in November.

In the interview, Allen was also asked if the bachelor President will walk the aisle this year.
