Getting ready for a new baby requires a lot of thought and planning from what diapers to choose to the decoration of the baby's room.

Today's parents want to create a haven for their little one that helps their baby feel comforted and nurtured as well as stimulated enough to thrive.

Increasingly, parents are incorporating feng shui, the Chinese art of placement, to ensure that baby has an attractive but also a harmonious environment.

To maximize the energy in a baby's room, there are several important factors to consider such as room location, safety, colors and furniture arrangement.

These make up the foundation of good feng shui in the nursery. Plus, using feng shui may even help make babies less fussy, feel more comfortable in their surroundings and promote their health and well-being.

Here are seven tips for creating the right feng shui:Select a good location for the baby's bedroom.

An infant should have a bedroom that's not over a garage or other empty space. The bedroom also shouldn't be located where there's excessive noise that might prevent proper rest.Bed placement is important.

Put the baby's bed on a solid wall across from the door, with the head of the crib against the wall, rather than lengthwise, just as you would a regular bed. This supports the baby's head and provides a feeling of security. Too often, parents put the long side of the crib against the wall instead of the head. Avoid placing the bed against a wall that's shared with a bathroom, storage area, or utility-type room.

Opt for soothing colors.

Bankrupted By Feng Shui, Man Torches Sifu's Office

Alion Yeo remains unfazed by the incident.

A businessman has set fire to famous Hong Kong feng shui master Alion Yeo Tin Ming's office, accusing him of making untrue predictions that caused his family and multi-million dollar business to fall apart.

Suen Lok Wai, 42, used to be a millionaire and a businessman in the construction industry, whose properties in Hong Kong and Shanghai amounted to HK$17M (RM7M). On top of that, he owned a shophouse on Hollywood Road, Hong Kong.

He claimed that his life took a drastic change after he listened to Alion's advice and moved his business and family to Shanghai. Suen first turned to the fengshui masteralso a TV personalityfor advice when he and his wife failed to conceive a child after many years of marriage. Alion made a prediction that they would have one soon and it came true two years later.

When Suen's wife was pregnant with their second child, Alion made a prophecy that the kid would grow up to be an extremely important leading figure in China, provided if he was born there. If the baby was delivered in Hong Kong, "he would only be [Hong Kong] Chief Executive at most", Alion allegedly said. What's more, the fortune teller allegedly told Suen that the latter's business would thrive and his profit would multiply if he moved to China.

Suen took Alion's word for it, sold one of his properties and moved to Shanghai. However, his life and business did not unfold the way he expected. His business failed, causing him to sell off his properties to pay for his debts. It jeopardised his family ties, too, with his wife leaving him and moving to the U.S. with their two sons (aged 10 and 7).

Suen returned to Hong Kong and tried to start a new business, but his second attempt also failed. A hopeless and desperate Suen soon turned to Alion again, demanding the latter to pay HK$12,800 for a Guanyin statue he gave him in the past.

Alion paid him the amount, but Suen returned to Alion's office early this year, this time demanding for HK$25,000, the amount he had paid Alion in the past for his services. His requests were turned down by the Alion's employees. Half an hour later, they heard a loud bang and realised that the main entrance of the office was on fire.
