3 Feng Shui Money and Wealth Tips - September 6, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

Goodfeng shuiin your home or office does not bring you wealth if you do not strive for it, but it does give you the necessary support to attract the energy of money.

Feng shui helps you create an environment, both at home and in youroffice, that strengthens you and helps attract the energy of wealth.

The best feng shui money energy foundation is having your home and business free ofclutter, displaying symbols that speak to you of wealth, using specific feng shuicures such as crystals, specific imagesand even essential oils to raise the feng shui energy in your home.

Good feng shui money energy also means maintaining high oxygen levels at all times.

This means your space has fresh air with a vibrant quality to it, and decorating with air purifying plantsis the easiest feng shui way to keep the energy in your space vibrant and wealth-ready.

Natural light is obviously very important for a genuinely good feng shui energy, too. In case of a space that gets little or no natural light, a very smart and intelligent lighting system (ideally several layers of lighting with at least some full-spectrum lights) will make all the difference.

In order to attract (and keep, as well as multiply!) the energy of abundance, you have to create an honestly good quality of energy in your space, there is no way around it.

Pretending your space has good energy by hanging chimes and crystals just does not work; it is a false (and naive) cover up.

So, focus on creating a genuinely strong, healthy and solid foundation, and then apply the wealth and money feng shui tips and cures that truly speak to you.

Always choose the wealth feng shui cures that make sense in your home or office; a three legged frog in a modern house may look absolutely ridiculous (unless it has deep meaning to you); and it will sure not work to attract wealth.

The best and the most powerful feng shui decorating is the subtle one, the one that is full of meaning, is deeply connected to your personal energy, as well as expresses the needed feng shui elements in specific areas of your house.

Ok, now lets finally look into some easy feng shui money tips.

Water is an ancient symbol of abundance in all cultures, not only in feng shui. Use feng shuifountains a powerful feng shui cure to attract wealth and fresh Chi.

If a fountain will not work in your space or you are just not comfortable with the idea, you can use images of flowing water such as waterfalls, rivers, etc.

Any water image is an excellent feng shui for wealth energizer, just be sure the water is clear and moving.

So, images of a fast flowing river or a waterfall, for example, are better feng shui for wealth cures than the images of a quiet lake or a pond.

You can also express the Water feng shui element by using the Water feng shui element colors blue and black as well as by decorating with mirrors. Why mirrors? Because they are the perfect expression of the water feng shui element.

No matter which feng shui bagua school you want to work with (this short video tells you about the two feng shui bagua styles); focus your efforts on your money area and take good care of its energy.

This means the overall decor in your money area has the appropriate feng shui colors, items, shapes and images, all expressing the Wood and the Water feng shui elements. A bit of Fire feng shui element decor is always good and serves as an energizing factor.

Once you define your feng shui money area, you might be upset to find out that your money area is in a challenging area such as the bathroom, for example, or in the garage, closet or laundry room.

Rest assured that you can always make the best of it, and I have plenty of resources to help you out with good feng shui decor for your money area. Here are just a few tips to begin with:

Decorate your home and office with specific feng shui wealth cures that appeal to your taste and style. There is a variety of feng shui money cures from traditional to modern so take your time and bring into your space only the wealth cures that really speak to you of abundance and wealth.

No matter which feng shui cure you choose an aquarium for wealth or the Laughing Buddha, be sure you choose wisely.

While some traditional Chinese feng shui money cures such as the three legged toad, the Dragon Turtle, the Gem Tree or the Lucky Cat might not appeal to your taste (I know I do not use them!); there are still plenty of popular and powerful feng shui for wealth cures that you might like.

Look into the Lucky Bamboo, the Wealth Ship or the Money Tree, to name just a few, and see if your money area can benefit from their energy.

So, there you have it your 3 feng shui for wealth tips!

As with any feng shui applications be it for health, for love or for money you have to be patient and genuine in your feng shui work. Feng shui has been successfully used for over five thousand years, so it can certainly help you, too.

Just make an effort to be consistent, and always use your best judgement.

3 household items a feng shui expert wants you to toss ASAP – Red Deer Advocate (subscription) - September 6, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

With the turn of the season fast approaching, our minds have turned to the nesting months ahead (and how we can prepare our homes accordingly). Enter Anije Cho, an architect, registered feng shui expert and Amazon best-selling author of 108 Ways to Create Holistic Spaces. Cho recently took to MindBodyGreen to discuss the ways the spaces around us directly affect the amount of stress and ease we feel in our day-to-day, and how adding or removing certain items can change that. Below read up on which items dont deserve a place in your home (and why).

    Dried flowers

Dried and decaying flowers, branches, and leaves are a big feng shui no-no, writes Cho. At one point these living things held vibrant energy, but as they dried and decayed, they began to represent death and decline. She adds that a dried flower or bouquet with a positive meaning associated with it is an exception.

    Unwanted gifts

Despite the most positive intentions, many of us have received a gift we dont want (or doesnt fit into our lives in some way). We can appreciate the gesture of a gift, but holding onto something unwanted affects our peace and happiness, she explains. Give yourself permission to donate or regift those objects. There is someone out there who will love it.

    Broken objects

I find broken items in need of repair in most of my clients homes, she declares. Often, the item is taking up a lot of room, and fixing it has been on the to-do list for months if not years. She adds that, while its normal to let these odd jobs slip through the cracks, broken items indicate stagnant energy, which can wear you down on a subconscious level. In other words, every time you see that item you have been meaning to repair, it weighs on you.

Feng Shui Your Bedroom | HGTV - August 22, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

What Is Feng Shui? Use Welcoming, Calming Colors Position Your Bed With Care

In feng shui, the "commanding position" for the bed is as far away from the bedroom door as possible, but in a spot which still allows you to keep an eye on the room's entrance. "This gives you a sense of safety and protection while you rest," says Jayme. The corner of the room diagonally opposite the door is usually best, since it distances you from the door while keeping the bed out of direct alignment with the room's opening, which is conducive to sleep, relaxation and healthychi.

Headboards, especially solid ones made from wood, are considered good feng shuibecause they provide additional strength and support behind your head. Footboards, on the other hand, are seen as blocking forward progress in life.

Make sure your feet don't point out the door while in bed. In traditional Chinese culture, this is called the "Death Position" because the deceased are carried out feet first. Practitioners believe sleeping this way can drain your life force. If you can't avoid it, use a footboard or a substantial trunk or other piece of furniture at the foot of your bed to act as a buffer (this is the one exception to feng shui's normal "no footboard" rule). Finally, leave enough room around the bed for energy to flow freely, and for each partner to get up with ease.

"Less is more" also applies to the closet. According to experts, clutter behind closed doors can be just as depleting as clutter that's in the open. "If you feel irritated, confused and overwhelmed when you open the closet door, organizing your closet will help give you a sense of control over your life," says Terah. Ruthlessly weed out clothes that are unflattering, out-of-style or no longer worn, then sort by color and season. Install organizers to hold shoes, belts, scarves and other accessories, and move everything else choking your closet to another spot. Better yet, give it away!

Instead, if you're single and don't want to be, "decorate your bedroom as if a partner is already there," Terah says. Symmetry is key, so position nightstands and lamps onbothsides of the bed. Accessorize in pairs or multiples, too: Place a bunch of flowers in a vase and hang art depicting romance and unity, which feng shui gurus say creates a "couples' energy" as well as a sense of balance and abundance in the room.

In the feng shui "map" of the bedroom, called thebagua, the far right corner is the "love center." Whether you're single or coupled, consider building a "shrine to love" in that spot. Accessorize a table, dresser or shelf with a photo of you and your mate (or other art that depicts a happy couple), a pair of candles, a book of romantic poetry and a heart-shaped box. "It becomes an environmental affirmation of your relationship goals," Terah says. A thriving plant with rounded, not spiky, leaves is another nice addition. Silk plants or flowers are OK, according to feng shui practitioners, but never keep a sickly specimen or dried foliage here, since their symbolism is obvious.

Another feng shui no-no: king-sized beds. Not only do they create a physical chasm between you and your mate, but they "are split down the middle by two box springs, which creates a symbolic dividing line between partners that can affect their unity," David Daniel Kennedy, a feng shui teacher and consultant in Berkeley, Calif., and author of "Feng Shui for Dummies" explains. If you're not about to trade in your beloved California King, even for the sake of yourotherbeloved, a red sheet placed over the box springs will help unify the two separate halves.

In addition to creating a room that's beautiful to look at, take time to appeal to your other senses as well, by filling your bedroom with things you love to smell, touch, taste and hear. "Make the bedroom your sensory treasure box," says Terah.

Feng Shui helps in finding the home that suits you – The Edge Markets MY - August 22, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

FROMthe perspective of Chinese Metaphysics, when it comes to the Feng Shui assessment of a property, the priorities for a homebuyer and an investor may differ.

For homebuyers, there are more aspects they need to look at to determine whether the property or unit is suitable for them, said Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics founder Datuk Joey Yap during TheEdgeProperty.com Facebook Live show on July 23, aired in conjunction with the recent Malaysia Virtual Property Expo 2017. The FB Live talk was on Feng Shui for homebuyers.

For property investors, the most important areas to consider when buying a property are the direction and condition of the main door and balcony (if any) as they wont be occupying the unit for the long term. The same theory applies to those who are purchasing commercial units.

The whole idea of Feng Shui assessment is to identify and harness the good flow of energy in the environment, which is also known as Qi flow. The flow of energy determines the prosperity and vibrancy of the particular place. This is the reason why certain places are vibrant and attract crowds, while others in the same area may not, Yap opined.

    Five areas to look at

For homebuyers, finding the property that matches well with their individual destiny chart based on Feng Shui can be achieved by assessing:

    1) The main door2) The bedroom3) The balcony4) The kitchen5) The study

The main door represents the entrance for the flow of energy. Its like a persons mouth. A property with good Feng Shui elements should be one that does not obstruct energy flow coming in from the main door. So the main door must face open spaces that encourage good energy to flow in and around, thus contributing to wealth improvement, Yap explained.

This means one should avoid a unit that has the main door facing a pillar or has something that blocks its entrance.

The same theory applies to the balcony. If the balcony faces or is close to another building, the flow of Qi is disrupted. A balcony should be spacious, preferably facing a water body or hill so as to invite good energy into the property.

For people hoping to improve family harmony or relationships, or who want to improve their health, the bedroom should be their focus as it is where people sleep and rejuvenate themselves.

With good sleep and self-healing, a person will have good temperament and patience. This could help in building good relationships with others, he said.

The kitchen is another area that one should assess as it is related to the health and safety of the occupants in the house. Based on the house owners destiny chart, if the kitchen is situated in an unfavourable direction for its owner, it will cause negative energy flow, thus causing health problems to the owners or residents.

Health problems in the family could arise if the kitchen is in the wrong place and the energy flow there is being intercepted with negative energy or vibration. However, if one seldom cooks or eats at home, the kitchen element can be ignored, he said.

For people who want to excel in life and grow to their fullest potential as a student or in their careers, the study room is definitely the room they have to give priority to.

Feng Shui: Positive energy at balconies – New Straits Times Online - August 22, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

IF you have a balcony that has sharp shapes, corners or edges, there are a few things you could do to remedy it and generate positive energy for your home.

One of the most common is placing tall and healthy plants.

It is recommended that you opt for a plant or a flower that has vibrant colours and can be easily taken care of. Avoid spiky or pointed ones like a cactus as it might prevent positive qi from entering the house.

According to Feng Shui masters, green plants in the balcony will not only energise and greet you every morning, but also welcome you back in the evening from all your outdoor activities.

It is wise that you keep the balcony free from unnecessary items like old shoe racks or cupboards, empty pots or vases, dead plants, bottles and newspapers.

According to Chinesehoroscop-e.com, putting a window box on the window sill will fill the house with the wood energy of growing plants.

By using the Bagua, we can choose the colours of the plants, flowers and window boxes which correspond to the direction facing our balcony.

The direction facing the balcony is also important.

A balcony with the view of a river, mountain or other greenery is said to be very auspicious compared to one facing a busy road and the walls of another building.

It is best to avoid choosing a house with a balcony that has certain objects, structures and buildings adjacent to it as it can cut off the positive energy meant to flow into your home.

Meanwhile, having a door that faces a balcony will create problems for the occupants, especially if they have children.

The children may be drawn to elope from the house and may under-perform at school.

Parents may also not have their heart at home, causing a strife in their relationship and creating issues at work.

To prevent all these, try installing a partition or any forms of wall structures between the door and the balcony to make the space less parallel.

What Is Feng Shui? – Real Simple - August 10, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

    What about the windows?

Dress them, but you don't need anything heavy. You can do sheers. No one wants to feel exposed here.

Where should guests sit?If you watch people walk into a waiting room or a restaurant, they choose a place where they feel safewith their backs to the wall. It's nice to let dinner guests sit with a wall behind them, as opposed to an open doorway or windows.

Any magic feng shui props for this spot?A nice, big mirror reflecting the table is said to double the abundance and bring good fortune.

Mirrors are significant in feng shui. Why?They can do all kinds of tricks, like recirculate energy and enhance natural light. They draw attention to what they reflect, so if a mirror has an unpleasant view, move it. Hang mirrors high enough that seated guests aren't stuck looking at themselves.

Let's move to the bedroom. Overall tips? It's best to have an interplay of masculine and feminine details.

What do you mean? For example, a bed that feels solid but sumptuous, maybe a wood bed frame that has an upholstered headboard. Or gorgeous silk drapes paired with a straight roman shade. This contrast ensures that the room feels balanced: energized yet restful.

Where should the bed go?Ideally, the head of the bed is on the wall farthest from the door but not directly across from it. Feet pointing directly out the door is known as the coffin position, because it's how the dead are removed in China. A sidewall is also OKbut no matter what, make sure you have a clear view of the door.

What if you're stuck with a layout that demands the coffin position? Yikes!Put a settee or a high bench at the end of the bed that's slightly taller than the mattress, or place an upholstered screen between the foot of the bed and the entry to shift the energy.

Can one side of the bed be against a wall? It's OK for kids. But for adults, leave space on both sides. Think about how both people feel in the room. Each should have adequate lighting and easy access to the bed without climbing over the other person. If you're single and looking for a partner, leaving space on both sides of the bed is energetically beneficial.

How do you get that calm, feng shui feel? It's a combination of safety, with an enveloping bed; coziness, with soft materials; and symmetry, with table lamps and nightstands that create a bookend effect. The bed feels like a little room within a room.

Smoke And MirrorsA fireplace sends energy out of a home; a mirror above the mantel bounces energy back in. Circles (here, on the mirror's frame), which have no beginning and no end, symbolize the flow of the universe. In feng shui, pairs (such as the vases and the dogs on the mantel) represent love and nurturing.

Safe HavenA feng shui'd bedroom feels comforting and secure. The bed is key: Here, the wings of the headboard "hug" the mattress. When your eye is drawn up, it's said to elevate your mood. So hang an overhead fixture that you love, paint the ceiling a calming color, or mount striking drapes up high.

Why Feng Shui is Pretentious BS in the Modern Age – NextShark - August 10, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

The other week, I visited a friends house for the first time in a while and at the center of the coffee table sat a seemingly-floating metallic orb cascading water down from a top hole into a shallow bowl.It made a horrific jack-hammering whir as it ran and there was no way to hide the ugly black cord leading to the outlet against the eggshell white wall. She said, This is my indoor cleansing fountain. What I saw was a fancy new drink station for her cat.

There have been many eye-roll moments Ive encountered on house tours over the years but the cringy-est moments are with White people who really try to make themselves look extra sophisticated and cultured. Like, I appreciate the offer, Carol, but Im just here to share chemistry homework with your daughter, I would really rather not smell your cherry blossom hand lotion that you secretly got from Bath & Body Works.

I have plenty of my own experience on what is Asian in a house. My eyes and nose are used to the burn of green medicated oil fumes. I can spot the small ancestor shrines by the burnt remains of incense sticks jutting out of a bowl of raw rice grains up on a shelf and pay my respects before making myself at home. I know the gold-on-red calendar with the big Chinese character LUCK is near the kitchen.

My White hosts that insist on dragging me through their personal museums try very hard to impress me with their exotic collectibles. I imagine these tours are also offered to White guests that enter the premises but often times I notice some extra side glances towards me, gauging my reaction to some ethnic knick knack, if Im impressed or have some story to share.

Here is my picture with some children I met on a mission in Indonesia!

This is my kabuki mask collection!

I got this ivory Buddha head on vacation in Thailand!

Sometimes it takes everything in me not to point out that its actually pretty fucking weird to display the decapitation of another cultures religious figure like a trophy, particularly on the counter of their bathroom where they are flashing it at least every day as they shower or use the toilet. And lord help me if they have a fake katana sitting on their mantle, then say theyve been studying bushido or something

But the ABSOLUTE worst offenders are always the ones that act super enlightened from attending yoga sessions thrice a week and reading a self-help book about positive vibes. Its more than just cool to them. They buy into that energy flow bullcrap and wikihow Feng Shui.

The thing is good old Feng Shui was about common sense. It wasnt based on some sort of ancient mystifying sorcery. The orientation of furniture wasnt fancy divination; it makes sense that an office desk facing the door is good for longevity if people arent getting spooked from behind every time a visitor comes in. Windows should face East because the sun rises and provides natural light instead of wasting candles, or in todays case, electricity. A mountain behind the house was for good foundation. Generous wealthy people built water wells out front and welcomed people to come have a drink and cool down.

So, when I walk up to a door way and theres a china pot on the porch and red tassels hanging from the frame, I steel myself to enter the domain of some real tryhards. Instead of the impression of worldly, I now see people with a tad too much money and a taste for the tacky. And if youre paying for Feng Shui consultations Youre being scammed, honey.

Feng Shui: Basic rules for home renovation – New Straits Times Online - August 10, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

WHEN it comes to home renovation, you want to get the maximum benefit for your money. That means hiring the right professionals for the job and using the best building materials.

But what about ensuring the right chi in your home? This is the practice of Feng Shui, and if applied properly, can positively influence your wealth, career, health and even your love life.

Feng Shui acts as a guide to create harmony and balance between the yin and yang, two energies with different properties. It is a complex practice, but it is always possible to renovate your home to stimulate positive chi without investing in bagua maps and Feng Shui compasses.

Here are some basic Feng Shui rules when doing home renovation:

    MAIN DOOR

As the main door serves as the main entry point of chi to your home, you should always avoid aligning your it with other doors (especially the back door) or windows. This is because chi needs to fill your home with nourishing energy, instead of flowing in and out hastily.

Also ensure that your door is sturdy and made from a strong hardware, and not rusty and breaking apart.

    KITCHEN

The kitchen is one of the three important pillars of a good Feng Shui at home (the bedroom and bathroom being the other two) because it is where nourishing food is prepared and cooked to provide energy for you and your family.

It also houses the five elements of Feng Shui Fire (stove), Water (sink and fridge), Wood (table), Earth (tiles) and Metal (metal handles, cooking equipment).

Avoid positioning your kitchen at the front of your house or close to the front door as this can signify eating and nutritional problems, while it also encourages guests to leave promptly after eating.

    BEDROOM

Master bedrooms should have enough sensual energy and be calming to promote sleep. Therefore, remove distractions like televisions, computers, exercise equipment, paperwork and clutter.

Bedrooms should be brightly-lit and have the right colours based on the bagua area and personal Feng Shui elements. For example, if you belong to the Wood element, it is best to avoid fiery colours like red and orange as they belong to the Fire element, and opt for blue and brown as they belong to the Water and Earth elements, respectively.

    BATHROOM

Bathrooms shouldnt be facing the kitchen or the front door as they are considered bad Feng Shui. To promote positive chi in bathrooms, keep them spotless and clutter-free. Also, take efforts to beautify their aesthetics, including adding aromatherapy essential oils and plants.

It is not always necessary to display Feng Shui items like Chinese coins, bells, dragon ships and crystal ball fountains. They may look out of place, especially if you want a modern-looking decor.

Instead, basic Feng Shui is all about setting up your home layout to improve the flow of chi. You can have a home with strong Feng Shui energy without sacrificing a modern design style. Most importantly, keep your home clean, use the right colours, and make sure that there is plenty of light in your house to help balance Feng Shui energy.

Scene stealer: Architect creates feng shui paradise perched above Pittwater – Domain News - August 10, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

Walking along the bridge that extends from the street to the oversize front doors of this impressive Pittwater pile gives you just enough time to draw breath for a grand exhale upon entry.

Even the most jaded of visitors would have to be wowed by the magnificent scope of the Pittwater views that are captured via glass windows and doors on a grand scale.

Facing north over Careel Bay towards Palm Beachs Snapperman Reserve and beyond to Lion Island and Gosford, the property is only two doors east of Stokes Point, home to Finisterre, the areas most expensive waterfront property.

Architect Rosalie Stollery used feng shui principles when designing this waterfront residence in a bid to create a home where you feel relaxed, balanced and at peace, but with this kind of gobsmacking vista to process, the blood pressure can only go up.

Beyond the first encounter its easy to imagine living in a cocoon of contentment in a house where every room gazes over water.

Inspiration for the design came from the site itself, where water laps over sandstone shelves and against the sandstone sea wall, says Stollery in her project review.

These elements have been borrowed and extended into the house, where water and sandstone are the two main elements. Ponds encircle the house, a huge wet-edge pool appears to flow into Pittwater and sandstone is used in a podium upon which the house sits.

The painstakingly detailed build by Peter Williams Constructions took several years and was completed in 2010, and its a testament to both Stollerys timeless design and the build quality that the home presents as beautifully as a brand-new property.

Inside, the finishes reveal the owners interest in textured design. Youll find silk panels on the walls of the main bedroom, a different choice of feature tiles in each of the bathrooms, Louis Poulson light fittings and linen curtains framing the large expanses of glass.

The kitchen has Brazilian granite benchtops and a combination of Miele and Gaggenau appliances. A media room is fitted with a home cinema and theres an integrated surround system right through the house, plus a Control4 smart-home system.

Theres a large rumpus with kitchenette on the lower level, plus an adjoining multi-purpose room that could be used as a home gym, sewing room or study. Each of the four bedrooms on this level opens to the pool and garden.

Partaking in, and observing activities on Pittwater is the homes greatest asset. Boats come and go, seaplanes deliver diners to Jonahs, cement barges putter to Scotland Island, sailors race around the point.

Apart from birdsong, this non-intrusive ripple-riding rhythm is the only thing to break the silence. It is, in fact, ridiculously quiet when Domain makes a late morning visit, and its tempting to remove shoes and lower voices so as not to disturb the serenity.

Fittingly, the inclinator that runs from the carport to the waterfront doesnt whine and grind but instead emits only a gentle hum.

Alight on the lawn by the boatshed and discover a boaties paradise. The boatshed has a kitchenette but is otherwise still employed to house watercraft, rather than used as an additional living space.

The wharf juts out to a deepwater, floating pontoon with power and water and while not currently in use, the original slip rails have been retained should you need them.

The current owners have kept a 20.3-metre boat here and enjoyed countless hours on Pittwater.

Theres little doubt the new owners will be tempted to follow suit.
