Verdict
LITTLE CHIP didn't show a great deal on his debut over fences under Rules but he's presumably capable of better as he has been placed between the flags. The first of three Charlie Longsdon runners to have made the long trip up from Lambourn, he might be well treated in a race featuring a number of disappointing types and could reverse Bangor running with Almutaham. Sparkling Tara has been expensive to follow over fences and was a beaten favourite again at Wetherby earlier this month while Copper's Gold was tailed off on his reappearance at Newcastle. Alpha One is 3lb lower than when third here in May but hasn't been seen since.
Alpha One (IRE) 14-1 (11-2) Tracked leaders, ridden and went 3rd before last, one pace and no impression, 3rd of 8, 10l behind Peachey Moment (11-12) at Sedgefield 2m 4f hcp chs 0-120 (4) gd in May.
Jurisdiction 50-1 (11-4) In touch, went left and mistake 5th, reminder 7th, struggling 11th, tailed off 5 out, soon pulled up, in a race won by African Broadway (11-4) at Wetherby 3m 1f Beginners Chase (0-125) (4yo+) (3) gs in Oct, 9 ran.
Copper's Gold (IRE) 5-2 (11-5) Disputed leads to 5th, tracked winner, lost place 12th, weakened 4 out, tailed off, 4th of 6, well behind Bob Will (9-12) at Newcastle 3m hcp 0-100 (5) gs in Oct.
Sparkling Tara 10-3fav (11-9) Chased leaders, not fluent 11th and lost place, blundered and pecked badly 13th, weakened after 5 out, tailed off, 6th of 10, 44l behind Roi De Garde (10-5) at Wetherby 3m 1f hcp chs 0-110 (4) gs.
Little Chip (IRE) 28-1 (11-3) Mid-division, blundered badly 9th, struggling next, tailed off, 10th of 15, well behind Balbriggan (11-3) at Bangor 2m 4f Beginners Chase (0-110) (4yo+) (4) gs in Oct.
Almutaham (USA) 66-1 (11-0) Mid-division, mistake 1st, struggling after 6th, jumped left 11th, plodded on from 2 out, tailed off, 7th of 15, well behind Balbriggan (11-3) at Bangor 2m 4f Beginners Chase (0-110) (4yo+) (4) gs in Oct.

Coles boss to mend fences with farmers -
November 14, 2012 by
Mr HomeBuilder
Coles managing director Ian McLeod has moved to mend some fences with WA farmers, saying the company wants to work with them to maximise agricultural efficiency and the quality of food on supermarket shelves.
Mr McLeod launched a vigorous defence of the company's relationship with farmers yesterday during a visit to Perth to meet emerging fresh food producers trying to win contracts to supply Coles stores.
In an exclusive interview with WestBusiness, he said 80 per cent of the fresh produce stocked by Coles in WA came from local producers and 96 per cent of it from Australia.
Mr McLeod acknowledged there had been growing pains in the process of improving fresh food quality and supply while delivering lower prices for customers.
"Going back four or five years the quality of our fresh food was not great," Mr McLeod said.
"The way it was being sourced was very transactional, it could be from one supplier one day and another the next. What we have tried to do over that time is work more closely with suppliers of a like mind to help them grow and develop with us. When going through the process some suppliers win from it and some don't get as much business from you.
"We are always conscious of our responsibility to rural Australia and, if you look at the figures, we are buying $4 billion more in Australian produce than we were four or five years ago."
Coles has driven down prices and placed a greater emphasis on fresh produce since 2008 when Mr McLeod was recruited from British company Halfords to revive the business.
Coles' relationship with WA farmers reached a low point earlier this year when they threatened to boycott its supermarkets and chemical supplier CSBP, another subsidiary of Wesfarmers.
Farmers, and the dairy industry in particular, accused Coles of predatory pricing that saw milk production in WA drop by 8 per cent.

Theres a cost to the bright orange construction fences all around campus, and its not just the sore sight.
The fencing on the Oval, including posts and ropes, cost about $4,700, said Lindsay Komlanc, Ohio State spokeswoman for Administration and Planning, in an email.
The Oval fences came out of the Landscape Services operating budget.
In many maintenance cases, like on the Oval, its our Landscaping Services crew but could be a contractor or Facilities, Design and Construction budget just depending on the nature of the project, Komlanc said.
However, other projects on campus, such as the fencing along Woody Hayes Drive and around the RPAC, include the cost of fencing in their project budget, Komlanc said.
The fencing is there to allow the grass to regrow, especially after O.A.R.s performance during Rock the Oval on Oct. 4 and President Barack Obamas visit on Oct. 9 brought large crowds onto the affected area.
Some students said they understand why the fences are necessary.
They annoy me right now, but I guess if they have to grow the grass during the winter its not as big of a deal. I just hope theyre not there in the spring, said Kyle Marks, a graduate student in political science.
Other students said its important to consider what prospective students will think while vising campus, and think making the grass look presentable will play a significant role.
Its presentation of the university, so especially when youre bringing around people that are looking to come to the university on tours, so I think its definitely a good thing to keep campus presentable, said John Bell, a fourth-year in aviation.

Maybelieve at Kings EC 11/11/12
PLEASE READ So took May to Kings today, wasn #39;t the best behaved when she was un loaded, but she soon settled down. We entered the 70-75 for a warm up, I personally think she went quite well, althugh we clipped the last two fences, it was completely my fault, but we still came 3rd, it was a busy class, but it was a tricky course too get right although it looked simple and there wasn #39;t 1 clear round, the winner was the fastest 4 faulter. So I was happy to come 3rd out of a big turn out. After 2 and 1/2 hours of waiting around, we went in to do the 80-85cm by this time, she was knackered, EXCUSE THE LEGS, ARMS, EVERYTHING. Looking back, I cringed at my riding, but we did go clear, so I couldn #39;t care less what people think of me as a rider, she #39;s a tricky ride, she #39;s only 4, and I love this pony to bits. We came 6th in the 80-85 out of about 30 🙂 No crit, I have a trainer to give me crit and tell me what to work on, although I am fully aware of what I, myself as a rider needs to work on and also what myself and May needs to work on. Don #39;t bother critting me through watching me on a computer screen, not that I disrespect your opinions! Like my show jumper page for updates: http://www.facebook.com Thanks for watching, not the best of rounds, but oh well, we #39;re getting there. Dislike if you #39;re jealous. R+M xx EnjoyFrom:RosieBlossettSJViews:1 1ratingsTime:02:53More inSports
