It was a surprise to see Kilcarry Bridge reverting to hurdles at Thurles on Sunday after an excellent run behind Sitcom over fences there last month. JUPITOR had only looked moderate over fences before an encouraging handicap debut at Navan where he made Oscars Business pull out the stops. That sort of form should be good enough as Coole Avenue hasn't shown much over fences and connections resort to a first-time visor. Springfield Way has easily the best form of these but an absence since finishing tailed off in a Grade 2 hurdle at Leopardstown almost two years ago is a cause for concern.
Jupitor (IRE) 11-1 (10-12) Impeded 2nd, soon tracked leaders, closer in 2nd 3 out, no impression last, kept on same pace run-in, 2nd of 15, 4 1/2l behind Oscars Business (10-7) at Navan 2m 4f hcp chs 0-130.

Verdict
BACK IN A TIC has undoubtedly been racing in better company and though now looking exposed should appreciate the drop in class and gain his first success over fences. Blazing Sonnett was very consistent over hurdles and it looks like being the same story over fences after two very good performances where he's jumped well. Byerley Babe was in excellent form over hurdles at this time a year ago and will be all the better for her debut run over fences at Naas last month. She should go well while winning point-to-pointer Maple Valley Gold showed her versatility by scoring over hurdles at Downpatrick and should do even better over regulation fences.
Back In A Tic (IRE) 7-1 (10-11) Soon tracked leaders, 3rd approaching straight, 4th when awkward jump 3 out, soon no impression, 5th of 8, 25l behind Dressedtothenines (10-11) at Cork 2m 1f mares nov chs Grade 3 (1) sft.

Verdict
Grade 1 winning hurdler MORNING ASSEMBLY has really taken to fences and could go all the way to the top judging by his defeat of the well regarded Don Cossack in a Grade 2 at Punchestown. There's much more to come and he'll take some beating. Bright New Dawn did very well over hurdles landing a Grade 2 at Thurles in February and made a very pleasing debut over fences at Punchestown when conceding the useful Dogora 12lb. He's a smart prospect and won't go down without a fight. Carlingford Lough wasn't beaten far by Don Cossack at Fairyhouse and the Galway Plate winner will ensure a strong test of stamina while none of the remaining quartet can be discounted in what should prove to be an informative contest.
Carlingford Lough (IRE) 4-1 (11-10) Tracked leaders, 5th halfway, ridden approaching 3 out, progress to lead after 2 out, challenged last and soon headed, kept on one pace under pressure, 2nd of 6, 1 3/4l behind Don Cossack (11-10) at Fairyhouse 2m 4f nov chs Grade 1 (4yo+) (1).
Morning Assembly (IRE) 6-4 (11-3) Always prominent and disputed lead, led briefly 3 out, pushed along and headed next, ridden and rallied approaching last, led run-in and kept on well under pressure, won at Punchestown 2m 6f nov chs G2 (1) in Nov beating Don Cossack (11-3) by 1/2l, 4 ran.
Foxrock (IRE) 5-4fav (11-11) Tracked leaders, pushed along in 4th after 3 out, headway after 2 out, led approaching last and ridden, not fluent at last and joined, rallied run-in to lead inside final furlong, kept on, won at Fairyhouse 2m 5f beg chs in Nov beating Touch The Eden (11-12) by 3/4l, 17 ran.
My Murphy (IRE) 4-1 (11-12) Soon chased leaders, improved to be on terms before straight, led approaching last where headed, regained lead and stayed on well run-in, won at Fairyhouse 3m beg chs sft beating Followmeuptocarlow (11-12) by 3l, 12 ran.
Bright New Dawn (IRE) 5-4fav (11-12) Made all, pressed approaching 2 out, asserted before last, ridden after last and strongly pressed again run-in, all out, won at Punchestown 2m 4f beg chs beating Dogora (11-0) by 1/2l, 12 ran.
Mad Brian (IRE) 7-1 (10-12) Mid-division, headway into 6th 3 out, ridden and went 2nd next, disputed lead briefly at last, kept on well in 2nd run-in, 2nd of 20, 1/2l behind Cootamundra (10-2) at Navan 3m hcp chs 0-150 in Nov.
Sizing Rio (IRE) 3-1 (11-10) Tracked leader and led 3rd, headed 6th and remained prominent, dropped to 5th 3 out and ridden entering straight, no impression in 4th after next, 4th of 6, 12l behind Don Cossack (11-10) at Fairyhouse 2m 4f nov chs Grade 1 (4yo+) (1).

Verdict
Page Turner was taking on slightly better company when last seen on this course in May and had looked promising in his first two starts over fences. Il Fenomeno has won five times on the Flat and three times over hurdles but his form to date over fences has been disappointing though there's still time to improve. ABBEY LANE landed a very tough Leopardstown handicap over hurdles in January before running twice at the Cheltenham Festival. He's had a break and makes his debut over fences but looks to have been found a winning opportunity. Not For You, a lightly-raced and progressive hurdler, was never in the hunt on his chasing debut at Listowel in September but is likely to do much better with that experience behind him.
Page Turner (IRE) 10-1 (11-5) Chased leader, led halfway, challenged before straight, ridden and headed before 2 out, no extra in 4th when slight mistake last, kept on same pace, 4th of 15, 13l behind Burn And Turn (11-5) at Limerick 2m 1f beg chs sft in May.
He Rock's (IRE) 66-1 (10-8) Held up off pace in mid-division, mistake 2nd, no impression from 5 out, tailed off, 7th of 11, well behind Ned Buntline (11-12) at Navan 2m 1f beg chs sft.
Starkie 10-3 (11-12) Tracked leaders and 4th halfway, ridden and no impression when slight mistake 2 out, 5th and no extra last,, 5th of 16, 26l behind Trifolium (11-12) at Thurles 2m 2f beg chs in Nov.
Il Fenomeno (ITY) 5-4fav (11-12) Soon close up, on terms before straight, headed before 2 out where slight mistake, soon no impression, kept on same pace,, 5th of 12, 11l behind Sitcom (11-5) at Thurles 2m 2f beg chs gd in Nov.
Tikka Light (IRE) 8-1 (10-13) Led early, headed 2nd, remained prominent, ridden 4 out, 5th and no impression approaching straight,, 5th of 17, 22l behind Theatre Bird (10-13) at Clonmel 2m 4f mdn hdl.
Monty Blue (IRE) 25-1 (11-12) Tracked leaders until fell 1st, in a race won by Ballyburke (11-12) at Cork 2m 5f beg chs sft in Nov, 10 ran.
Soaring High (IRE) 66-1 (11-12) Always towards rear, never a factor, 9th of 12, well behind My Murphy (11-12) at Fairyhouse 3m beg chs sft.
Not For You (IRE) 12-1 (11-7) Always towards rear, 14th of 16, well behind Run With The Wind (11-12) at Listowel 2m 1f beg chs in Sep.

Verdict
Speckled Wood has had little experience over fences but is nicely handicapped on his hurdles form and is one to be interested in. Make A Track is undoubtedly a smart prospect who should go well though this is a tough event to be making a handicap debut over fences. DICK DUNDEE has been in very good form over hurdles which is why his rating is 30lb higher than over fences. Paul Nolan's charge can take advantage though there are numerous dangers not the least being Immediate Response, twice a winner from just five starts over fences and seemingly on an attractive mark. Lookoutnow appeared to be running into form at Clonmel last time and is another to consider. Shrapnel appears unlikely to take part after his defeat here yesterday.
Shrapnel (IRE) 7-1 (11-7) Chased leaders and 4th halfway, pushed along and no impression in 5th entering straight, moderate 4th before last and kept on one pace, 4th of 8, 26l behind Felix Yonger (11-4) at Punchestown 2m nov chs Grade 2 (1) in Nov.
Far Away So Close (IRE) 20-1 (11-5) Rear of mid-division, headway 4 out, 4th next, soon ridden, weakened straight, 8th of 13, 14l behind Sraid Padraig (10-13) at Fairyhouse 2m 1f in Nov.
Unoccupied 4-1fav (9-13) Settled behind leaders, 7th halfway, pushed along in 6th 6 out, closer in 4th 4 out, ridden and no impression before straight, moderate 3rd 2 out, kept on one pace to 2nd run-in, no chance with winner, 2nd of 17, 10l behind Sword Fish (9-7) at Cork 3m 4f hcp chs 0-150 sft in Nov.
Make A Track (IRE) 4-7fav (11-6) Soon raced in 2nd, improved to dispute lead before 4 out, jumped right 3 out where left clear, reduced lead 2 out, strongly pressed from before last where joined and slight mistake, not match winner and kept on same pace run-in,, 2nd of 4, 1/2l behind Letter Of Credit (10-9) at Thurles 3m chs gd in Nov.
Castle Wings (IRE) 8-1 (11-12) Chased leaders, 2nd halfway, challenged and slight mistake 7 out, led 4 out, ridden before 2 out where challenged, narrowly headed before last, no extra run-in, kept on same pace, 2nd of 16, 3l behind The Paparrazi Kid (11-12) at Limerick 2m 3f beg chs sft in Nov.
Dick Dundee 4-1 (10-10) Soon tracked leaders, 3rd approaching straight, challenged in 2nd from before 2 out, led before last, stayed on well run-in, won at Cork 2m hcp hdl 80-116 sft beating Never Enough Time (11-11) by 1 1/4l, 16 ran.
Hidden Crack 20-1 (10-9) Towards rear, ridden 5th, 8th after 5 out, no impression 2 out, 6th of 15, 21l behind Oscars Business (10-7) at Navan 2m 4f hcp chs 0-130.
Speckled Wood (IRE) 11-10fav (11-2) Tracked leaders, 2nd halfway, ridden entering straight, led from 2 out, headed before last, kept on same pace run-in, 2nd of 6, 4 1/2l behind Smashing (10-12) at Fairyhouse 2m 4f hdl in Nov.

Norton trainer fancied to notch hat-trick at Wetherby
11:02am Friday 27th December 2013 in Horse racing By Tom O'Ryan, Racing journalist
King Of The Wolds, unbeaten in two outings over fences, heads to Wetherby this afternoon with good prospects of completing a hat-trick of wins in the feature race on the card.
The William Hill Castleford Handicap Chase is the target of the Malcolm Jefferson-trained gelding, who will again have the services of Brian Hughes as he drops back to the minimum distance of two miles.
A winner over hurdles at this venue last season, King Of The Wolds had always looked like an embryo chaser and has taken to the larger obstacles like the proverbial duck to water this winter.
He has chalked up victories at Sedgefield and Fakenham and a feature of those performances was his spring-heeled jumping.
That ability will stand him in excellent stead as he changes trip and, although this is by far and away the toughest test he has faced, King Of The Wolds is napped to come up trumps.
Indian Castle is expected to take another step up the fencing ladder by completing a hat-trick of wins in the William Hill Novices Chase.
Trainer Donald McCain has a high opinion of Indian Castle, whose latest success over the major obstacles was achieved on this course. He jumps for fun and is a strong galloper. He may have enough firepower to keep the useful Many Clouds at bay in this three-runner contest.
In the opening mares William Hill Novices Hurdle, Flementime is selected to have the edge over Tim Easterbys Run Ructions Run.

Two men at airports over 2,000 miles apart were arrested on Christmas Day after both breached high-security fences and ran onto the tarmacs in separate incidents in Newark, N.J. and Phoenix, Ariz., authorities said.
In the East Coast incident, a man reportedly dressed as a woman dashed across the tarmac on Christmas morning at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to NBC New York.
Later that day on the other side of the country, another man, this time showing signs of alcohol or drug use, ran onto the tarmac at Phoenix Sky International Airport and waved his arms at an arriving plane, NBC affiliate KPNX in Phoenix reported.
Both men were arrested and charged with trespassing.
Its unclear how Siyah Bryant, 24, of Jersey City ended up on the tarmac at Newarks airport around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said there is no video of anyone climbing the airports surrounding fences, according to NBC New York.
Meanwhile, Arizona authorities said Robert Bump, 49, climbed over a barbed wire fence roughly nine feet high at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, then headed onto the tarmac towards an arriving plane before running away from authorities with his arms outstretched as if he was imitating a plane.
Phoenix Police told KPNX Bump showed signs that he was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.
Both incidents called into question the security at major airports although authorities said no one was harmed in either location.
Deb Ostreicher, Deputy Aviation Director at Phoenix Sky International, told KPNX that the airports security far exceeded federal regulations, which require six feet of fencing, with some sections featuring eight to nine feet of fencing, barricades and barbed wire.
If you are willing to scale a fence of that height of barbed wire knowing that you are going to be immediately caught on the other side, thats not a risk a lot of people are going to want to take, she said.
