Georgian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over resumption by the Russian occupying forces installation of fences along some portions of administrative boundary line of breakaway South Ossetia and condemned it as illegal action affecting negatively on daily livelihood and freedom of movement of local population.

It said that installation of fences, which had been suspended for past two weeks, resumed in the areas adjacent to the villages of Atsotsi and Gogeti of Kareli municipality, southwest from Tskhinvali.

Critical situation in Georgias occupied regions and adjacent areas demonstrates once again the necessity of putting in place international security and human rights monitoring mechanisms, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said and called on the international community to react on Russias illegal actions.

State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Paata Zakareishvili, said that resumption of installation of fences after the Sochi Olympic Games was expected by the Georgian authorities.

Georgian PMs special representative for relations with Russia, Zurab Abashidze, noted that placing of fences resumed right after the Sochi Games. It seems that during the Olympics they [Russian authorities] were trying to avoid a scandal, Abashidze said and added that he will raise the issue when he meets his Russian interlocutor, deputy foreign minister Grigory Karasin in Prague in early March.

TUGUNhas set about mending fences by tearing them down.

Gold Coast City Council workers yesterday began removing palings from public land in an effort to heal a rift that tore the sleepy beachside community apart.

The encroachments, which were placed on sand dunes by beachfront residents, are expected to be gone by Friday and replaced with newly laid turf.

All items on public land were ordered to be removed after the Newman Government rejected applications by Golden Four Drive property owners to close a public road reserve behind their homes, allowing them to buy eight prime beachfront land parcels up to 210sq m each.

The proposed takeover led to weekly protests by the Friends of Currumbin community group and accusations of violence between warring parties.

Golden Four Drive campaigner Kate Malouf said the removals were difficult for residents who had fought to keep them there.

It is not a shock for anyone that this was going to happen, but it is obviously upsetting for residents who have been here a long time, she said.

We are hoping and trusting in the council to protect the dunes now and our main objective is to improve the care of the sand dunes.

Path to peace as fences come down

KINGMAN, AZ (CBS5) -

A Kingman man facesa super extreme drunken driving charge after he lost control of hispickup truckand hit a gas meter, two fences and two parked cars before plowing into a home Saturday night, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said.

The driver, Benjamin Hanson, 23, was initially unconsciouswhile his femalepassenger remained alert.

A deputy helped Hanson out of the vehicle and out to the street, where he gradually regained consciousness.

Deputies checked the home,discovered two uninjured residents and helped them to the street and out of danger of the gas leak.

Sheriff's investigators said Hanson had been travelingeastbound on E. Devlin Avenue at a high rate speed, between 70 and 85 mph. When he reached Melody Street, the pickup became airborne then landed and Hanson lost control, deputies said.

Thepickup struck the gas meter at 3145 Devlin Ave., then took outabout 60 feet of chain link fence, entered the yard, strucka parked car,hit another chain link fence, slammed intotwo mulberry trees, struck a second parked car at 3155 Devlin and thenrammed into the residence at 3155 Devlin.

Hanson suffered head lacerations and is expected to be OK.The female passenger was transported for observation only.

Hanson was arrested after he was medically released from the hospital.

He was charged with two counts of criminal damage, three counts of endangerment, felonies, along with criminal damage, DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .08 percent, extreme DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .15 percentand less than 20 percentand super extreme DUI with a blood alcohol concentration over .20 percent.
