The Mustangs will now await the bracket for the 2014 NCEA Championships that will be held in Waco, Texas, from April 17-19.

Fences blocking trail removed - February 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Barbed-wire fencing and no trespassing signs that a property owner installed blocking access to a portions of a popular hiking trail between Shell Beach and Avila Beach have been removed.

Property owner Rob McCarthy had the fencing and signs taken down this week, after receiving a letter from the Coastal Commission telling him he must do so or face stiff penalties.

In a letter dated Feb. 20, Coastal Commission code enforcement staff told McCarthy, who lives in Texas but plans to retire in Avila Beach, that he had until March 10 to remove the fencing, signs and gate that were blocking access to the trail.

McCarthy erected the fencing and signs earlier this year on his property just east of Cave Landing Road, angering the public which has used the Ontario Ridge looping trail for years. He maintained he blocked portions of the path because of safety concerns for those individuals that use it.

The county didnt require McCarthy to obtain coastal permits for the fencing project, but the commission disagreed earlier this month and ruled McCarthy violated the states Coastal Act by blocking the trail.

A county easement also exists on the property that allows the public to legally use the pathway.

Coastal Commission staff is expected to inspect McCarthys property in the near future to determine if the man has complied with the agencys demands.

BSF plans elevated road in Rann of Kutch - February 28, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

NEW DELHI: Due to repeated breaching of fences and inaccessibility of border areas in Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, BSF in coordination with CRRI ( Central Road Research Institute) is building an elevated corridor for unhindered patrolling of the area. The marshy lands of the border are not suitable for on-the-surface road as they often get flooded.

In a bid to improve its firepower on the border and mobility in Naxal-infested areas, the force is also upgrading its artillery and buying eight more MI-17 V5 choppers which would be deployed in Naxal areas.

The Kutch area is one of the most inhospitable terrains for security forces as the marshy land and saline water make human survival difficult.

"We want to have a good road connectivity. We are also looking at some technology solutions so that we can secure the border area more effectively," outgoing BSF director general Subhash Joshi told reporters here. Another officer said, "We are building an elevated corridor with help from CRRI."

Joshi retired on Friday after over 37 years in Indian Police Service (IPS). He headed the BSF for over a year after leading the elite counter-terror force NSG.

He said the force is focused on security measures and upgradations being made in this area which shares its waters with Pakistan including the notorious 'harami nala' area where fishermen of both countries often cross over into each other's territory.

The DG also said the force has prepared a proposal to upgrade its war stores, artillery and firing systems which it essentially deploys along the Pakistan border under the command of the Army. "We want to upgrade our firing systems on the lines of the Army that is based on computer technology," he said.

The force, which has an exclusive air wing, is also scheduled to get by end of the year new choppers which will be deployed for anti-Naxal operations and for serving high-altitude border posts along Bangladesh in Mizoram. Eight modern military choppers, Mi-17 V-5, have been sanctioned for the 2.4-lakh strong force and these will be imported from Russia.

Talking about welfare measures for the troops, Joshi said he was concerned over the "delay in promotions" in the constabulary. The paramilitary force had devised some internal mechanism to ease grievances.

In BSF, a constable usually takes 21-22 years to get promoted to the next rank as compared to other central forces where these men and women get an elevation in designation in about 17-18 years.

Pet Street Mall Offers New American Made WiFi Dog Fences To The Public - February 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) February 27, 2014

Pet Street Mall, a leader in pet supply products, is excited to announce a new high-tech side to its current inventory. Responding to a global demand for more cutting edge goods, Pet Street Mall has extended its catalog by carrying Perimeter Technologies latest WiFi Dog fences.

Operating out of the northern east coast of the United States, Perimeter Technologies makes the original WiFi Dog Fence. Using a blend of old and new technology, the WiFi dog fences use a microchip transceiver to constantly link your dogs location in the yard. Unlike older dog fence technology, the Perimeter Technologies WiFi fences are connected by Transceivers that constantly link the distance between the dog and the Smart Station. This allows owners to know the location of a dog at all times while reminding the pooch to respect its boundary area.

Composed of tough, waterproof polycarbonate and lightweight plastic, the WiFi Dog collars and transmitters are an option for pet owners who live in any type of environment. The transmitters can also use more than one collar at the same time, which is perfect for a home with two dogs. The WiFi Systems are able to cover a huge amount of area, too. According to Perimeter, their WiFi fences have a boundary of nearly 3 acres for dogs to enjoy the outdoors.

These are the most high-tech invisible dog fences that we carry, said a spokesman for Pet Street Mall. Integrating WiFi with dog fences is the future of keeping our pets safe in our yards. Were excited to carry these top-quality Perimeter Technologies products.

In addition to keeping dogs safe in your own yard, Perimeter boasts that its newest WiFi fences are easily portable and can be used almost anywhere the user requires. If youre traveling to a friend or family members home that doesnt have a fenced in yard, this is the perfect solution for keeping your pet safe while it plays off its leash.

With more and more pet products being made overseas, Pet Street Mall says they are thrilled to offer a quality product that was engineered, designed, manufactured and distributed in the United States.

Ballycahill Beginners Chase 3m - February 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Verdict

Dushrembrandt, a progressive hurdler, finished tailed off last of the three finishers on his debut over fences at Fairyhouse where he didn't look a natural. This isn't the greatest of races but he'll need to do much better. Leading The Life was struggling when falling in that race and, though a point-to-point winner, his form over regulation fences is very moderate. Milan Breeze was a 100/1 chance when an excellent third to a couple of decent rivals at Gowran last month. That was his first sign of ability and with this longer trip likely to suit he's a threat to all. Dawerann should improve for his debut here last month though he's never run beyond the minimum trip in 14 career starts. CADSPEED will never be a stable star but won't get a better opportunity to lose his maiden tag over fences and his close third to Ned Buntline at Navan in December is the pick of the form on offer so he's handed the vote.

Burkburnett Golf Course Fences Out Wild Hogs - February 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

The continued drought has feral hogs foraging for food and water in areas that are bringing them closer to people.

However in Wichita County, Mechell Dixon found that managers at a golf course have taken a swing at keeping the greens and fairways from being further damaged by wild hogs.

The City of Burkburnett owns River Creek Golf Course and their fight to keep feral hogs away has been going on for a decade.

Now, managers have put up a long and sturdy line they hope the wild hogs will not cross.

Golfers are drawn to the greens at River Creek Golf Course but officials say so are wild hogs.

"We've seen pigs anywhere from 40 to 50 pounds up to 250 pounds. It just varies and they'll run in packs of 15 to 30," says Rick Hershman, an employee at River Creek Golf Course.

    And those packs are destructive.

This area of the course was uprooted by hogs three weeks ago and as you can see, evidence of their destruction is still very visible.

To keep future hogs at bay course managers decided to follow the path taken at other golf courses.

"We've put a fence up on our west and north end of the golf course, which is where we've seen most of the activity," says Scott Anderson, manager of River Creek Golf Course.
