The continued drought has feral hogs foraging for food and water in areas that are bringing them closer to people.

However in Wichita County, Mechell Dixon found that managers at a golf course have taken a swing at keeping the greens and fairways from being further damaged by wild hogs.

The City of Burkburnett owns River Creek Golf Course and their fight to keep feral hogs away has been going on for a decade.

Now, managers have put up a long and sturdy line they hope the wild hogs will not cross.

Golfers are drawn to the greens at River Creek Golf Course but officials say so are wild hogs.

"We've seen pigs anywhere from 40 to 50 pounds up to 250 pounds. It just varies and they'll run in packs of 15 to 30," says Rick Hershman, an employee at River Creek Golf Course.

And those packs are destructive.

This area of the course was uprooted by hogs three weeks ago and as you can see, evidence of their destruction is still very visible.

To keep future hogs at bay course managers decided to follow the path taken at other golf courses.

"We've put a fence up on our west and north end of the golf course, which is where we've seen most of the activity," says Scott Anderson, manager of River Creek Golf Course.

President Margvelashvili said on February 26 that completely senseless process of erecting barbed wire fences by the Russian troops across breakaway South Ossetias administrative boundary line aims at maintaining conflict and keeping divided communities further apart.

Margvelashvili told journalists while visiting Kvareli in eastern region of Kakheti that he plans to visit Shida Kartli region to meet locals affected by ongoing borderisation process.

We see resumption of completely senseless activity involving placing of barbed wire fences, Margvelashvili said. These barbed wire fences have no strategic military purpose whatsoever. This is an action definitely directly against the people against those people who want to see and meet each other beyond barbed wire fences.

I want to call on the international community to raise voice together with us against this completely illegal action. This is the action directed towards complicating the conflict; without these barbed wire fences we can find each other and reach out to each other. These fences are placed only for the purpose of maintaining the conflict, the Georgian President said and added that placing obstacles across the administrative boundary line represents yet another crime and violation of the international law by Russia.

This is an ongoing action directed against de-escalation of the conflict and directed towards preventing people from finding common language, Margvelashvili said.

President Condemns 'Borderization'

National Police chief Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew met four representatives of the Peoples Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) yesterday afternoon and promised to speed up investigations into the deaths of children at rally sites.

Adul met the four representatives inside the Royal Thai Police compound after rally chief Suthep Thaugsuban led protesters who wore black to mourn the deaths of the children to rally there at 10am. Suthep demanded that police speed up their investigations and arrest the attackers whose actions led to the deaths of the four children - two in Bangkok and two in Trat.

Suthep read a statement from the back of a six-wheel truck parked outside the police headquarters, saying police had initially used harsh tactics against the protesters but later changed their methods to comply with the Civil Court's order. Suthep then apologised for his verbal attacks against police.

He could not meet with Adul himself because the PDRC leader has an arrest warrant hanging over his head. The PDRC was thus represented by Chaiwuti Bannawat, Sakoltee Phatthiyakul, Taya Teepsuwan and Chitpas Kridakorn. Adul promised that police would do their best to investigate cases of political violence.

He also asked the four representatives to tell the PDRC to allow police to inspect the scenes at rally sites when violence occurs. He said police were always blocked by security guards from entering the rally sites.

The PDRC protesters said they were happy that Adul came out in person to receive the demands from the four representatives.

The protesters left the front of the Royal Thai Police compound at 1.20pm.
