Showing up to a party uninvited might earn you a few dirty looks, but one filmmaker has proved doing the same backstage at a big-time music festival could earn you the opportunity of a lifetime.
Music buff James Marcus Haney, who was always too short on cash to earn entry to Austin City Limits, Glastonbury or Bonnaroo, resigned himself to the idea that hed only ever be able to hear his favorite tunes on the radio. But one day, with a camera in hand and all reservations tossed to the wayside, he jumped enough fences, sidestepped enough security guards and flashed enough fake badges to land backstage at music festival heaven Coachella. And then, all bets were officially off.
In the trailer for MTV original doc No Cameras Allowed, below, youll see Haney journey across the country, break through miles of red tape and capture incredible footage of acts like Mumford & Sons, Jay-Z and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, to name a few. And though sneaking into concert series isnt the traditional (or legal) route most filmmakers take, theres no denying the guys talent.
The access and perspective he is so hungry for is what makes his images so unique and compelling, and the force that propels this behavior is deep within him and pure, says Mumford & Sons bassist Ted Dwane, whos featured in the video.
Check out the clip, tell us what you think of Haneys method and be sure to tune in to No Cameras Allowed on Friday, August 29 at 10/9c on MTV!

A man who broke through two locked doors and four barbed wire fences to escape West Australia's largest prison is receiving treatment in custody for cuts.
Brett Shannon Klimczak, 31, escaped from Acacia Prison on Monday morning but was caught hours later while trying to evade police in Jane Brook.
It was his second escape from a WA jail in four years.
In December 2010, Klimczak used a vehicle to smash his way out of Wooroloo Prison Farm and was on the run for about three weeks before being caught.
Corrective Services Minister Joe Francis said the extensive obstacles Klimczak had to overcome showed he was absolutely determined to break out of Acacia.
"These are significant razor wire fences," Mr Francis said.
"There was a fair bit of blood at the scene."
WA Corrective Services commissioner James McMahon said non-routine and routine 24/7 patrols of Acacia's perimeter were now in place and an investigation into the escape had begun.
Corrective services opposition spokesman Paul Papalia said WA Labor warned the Barnett Government in December that security at the Serco-operated prison Acacia was comprised because of massive overcrowding and understaffing.
Klimczak is the first person to break out of Acacia since Serco took over operations 10 years ago.

TWO Serco guards at Acacia Prison have been suspended after an inmate today escaped by breaking through two locked doors and four barbed wire fences.
Medium security Acacia Prison tonight remained in lockdown as the Department of Corrective Services and private operator Serco investigate how 31-year-old prisoner, Brett Shannon Klimczak, managed to break free of his cell or unit, internal fencing, alarms and a perimeter fence.
Police caught the man about 9.30am this morning allegedly his second jailbreak in four years.
Klimczak allegedly escaped Acacia Prison, near Wooroloo, in the early hours of this morning.
Police will allege Klimczak was caught after a chase where his vehicle came to a stop after being bogged on Toodyay Road and Wilson Road in Jane Brook about 9.30am.
It will be further alleged the vehicle he was caught in was a Landcruiser stolen from a home on Great Southern Highway in Woottating this morning.
It was his second escape from a WA jail in four years.
A Serco spokesman tonight confirmed two of its staff had been suspended pending the investigation, which could take a couple of weeks.

COLUMBIA Although she is just 17, Corey Kilgallon isn't afraid to go up against the big guys.
Kilgallon, who is from Millstadt, Illinois, fenced in the Sabre Division at the Show-Me State Games on Saturday. As a rising high school senior, she was one of the youngest competitors in the division and was also the only female to compete.

Kilgallon said it was fun to fence and win against older people, especially those of the opposite gender.
"I think it's really funny because when I was a freshman I competed in this tournament with all these college guys," Kilgallon said. "I was only three weeks in to fencing, and I was beating these college guys, and they were cussing and stuff because a little Girl Scout beat them."
Kilgallon won third place in the overall competition Saturday and first place in the women's division.
She said that most smaller tournaments that she fences in have a mix of ages and genders. It's the bigger, national tournaments such as the Junior Olympics, which Kilgallon fenced in that sort competitors by their age and gender.
"I'm actually used to it because I'm rarely with people of my own age. It's usually older people," Kilgallon said.
