The property, which has been boarded up since the horrific fire started deliberately by Mick and Mairead Philpott in May 2011, will be pulled down
The demolition of the house where six children perished in a blaze set deliberately by their parents Mick and Mairead Philpott will begin today.
The Philpotts were jailed in April , along with friend Paul Mosley, after being convicted of killing the couple's six children by setting fire to the three-bedroom semi-detached house in Allenton, Derby.
Jade Philpott, 10, and her brothers John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six, and Jayden, five, died in the blaze in May 2011 at 18 Victory Road. Duwayne, 13, died days later in hospital.
The demolition work will see 18 Victory Road and neighbouring property number 20 razed to the ground.
Workmen will begin to prepare the site today by erecting scaffolding, fencing and netting to the front, rear and sides of the properties.

Derby City Council said the process of demolition is likely to take up to three weeks; one week to prepare the site and a further two weeks to take down both properties, beginning with the outbuildings and roofing structures.

Work to demolish the house where six children perished in a petrol-fuelled blaze set by their parents Mick and Mairead Philpott will begin today.
The Philpotts were jailed in April, along with friend Paul Mosley, after being convicted of killing the couple's six children by setting fire to the three-bedroom semi-detached house in Allenton, Derby.
Jade Philpott, 10, and her brothers John, nine, Jack, eight, Jesse, six, and Jayden, five, died in the blaze in May 2011 at 18 Victory Road. Duwayne, 13, died days later in hospital.
The demolition work will see 18 Victory Road and neighbouring property number 20 razed. Workmen will begin to prepare the site by erecting scaffolding, fencing and netting to the front, rear and sides of the properties.
Derby City Council said the process of demolition is likely to take up to three weeks; one week to prepare the site and a further two weeks to take down both properties, beginning with the outbuildings and roofing structures.
Derby Demolition Ltd, John L Morgan & Sons, Maxplant Ltd and Ward Recycling have each agreed to donate their fee for the demolition work to Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre in Skegness, which provides disadvantaged local children with holidays in the town.
Mr Baggy Shanker, cabinet member for housing and chairman of the Neighbourhood Board in Sinfin, said: "I think we all welcome the demolition of these properties. Whilst the tragic deaths of the six Philpott children will never be forgotten, local people continue to move on and this is symbolic of the end of a very difficult time for the community."
Mick Philpott was jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years after being convicted of six counts of manslaughter following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court earlier this year.
The trial heard that Philpott used petrol to set fire to his home in a bid to frame his mistress during a child custody battle.
His wife Mairead and Mosley were told they would each serve half of a 17-year sentence for their part in the plan to set fire to the property.

Experts from the California Emergency Management Agency (Cal EMA) recently met with the National Demolition Association to discuss ways demolition contractors can strengthen the state governments response to natural and man-made disasters.
John Weber, past president of the NDA and a member of the associations Disaster Response Committee, addressed the group to layout in detail how the demolition industrys skill set, equipment, and experience can help save lives and property at disaster scenes. It is the NDAs stance that demolition contractors should be pre-qualified and involved during the planning stages for emergencies, not after the tragedies occur, said Michael R. Taylor, CAE, Executive Director of the global trade association of firms involved in the demolition process.
At the Cal EMA gathering, Weber discussed the in-depth role a demolition contractor would play at a disaster site, including the re-establishment of vital infrastructure, site clearance to allow access, urban search and rescue, salvage and recycling, and structural dismantlement. Demolition contractors, he explained, would serve as Second Responders following the direction of emergency management personnel.
Weber also expressed the associations desire to develop a program guide that could be used by First Responders and Emergency Management planners which details the many skills a qualified demolition contractor brings to a disaster site. The National Demolition Association is more than willing to assist the disaster response community on every level in planning for the next natural or man-made disaster, reiterated the Associations Executive Director.
The National Demolition Association is intent on helping communities in the United States that may be unprepared for a major disaster. It has created a Disaster Response Manpower and Equipment Survey for local and state governments to use to prepare in advance to save lives, facilitate faster response, and avoid the consequences of delayed decision making. The survey is available on the association website in its new Disaster Response section. To learn more about the National Demolition Association, visit http://www.demolitionassociation.com.
About the National Demolition Association
The National Demolition Association is a non-profit trade organization representing approximately 800 U.S. and Canadian companies and many international firms that are involved in the demolition process. Membership includes demolition contractors, general contractors, civil engineering firms, and recycling, landfill, and salvage operations. The associations efforts help members stay abreast of environmental, regulatory and safety matters, keep regulators informed about issues facing the industry, increase public and industry awareness, and provide members with networking opportunities and information on the latest technical advances in equipment and services. The website is http://www.demolitionassociation.com.
