With more time spent at home, now is the perfect time to seize the everyday and tackle tasks around the home that you may not have had the time to in the past. From D.I.Y. fence and patio repair tips to how to create your own backyard oasis for your family, Canadian Tire and Yahoo Canada are proud to help Canadians get there by bringing you everything you need for the season.
As you prepare your outdoor space for BBQ and patio season, ask yourself this: When was the last time you gave your fence and deck a refresh?
If its been several years, chances are some upgrades and repairs are needed. If you notice any staining and discolouration, mildew or old wood fibres collecting (which are all caused by exposed elements) after inspection, determine if it's time to replace your wooden fixtures completely or make minor updates.
While it may sound like a pricey job if left to the professionals, making repairs to your fencing and deck panels yourself can be a cost-efficient and fulfilling project you can do yourself. And with more time spent at home this year, its the perfect time to tackle any DIY passion projects you may have been putting off and revamp the ultimate outdoor space for your family to enjoy.
Plus, while more difficult and time-consuming tasks are of course for the adults of the house, safe tasks (even something as simple as sweeping!) are a great way to get the kids involved in a project that will leave everyone feeling like theyve made an impact!
To help you, weve rounded up helpful tips for ensuring you get the job done right and everything you need to do it.
Before you jump into fence or deck maintenance, its essential to determine whether you need to completely replace, or just restore.
According to Geno Scopelleti, who alongside his son Marino have owned and operated Sunnylea Homes, a Toronto-based general contracting company for more than 35 years, if half of the length of your fence is in poor condition, it might be time to replace the whole thing. By performing an inspection each year for any signs of decay (whether the wood is discoloured, soft, crumbling etc.) to ensure you catch problems early.
Story continues
Regardless of whether youre restoring a stained or damaged fence or deck or completely starting from scratch with a new build, youll need to sand. All wood, except manufactured items like composite wood need to be sanded. Start by using a sander with a heavier grit belt, using a palm sander for areas the belt sander cant reach. Then, doing a once-over with a lighter grit belt for an ultra-smooth surface thats ready for staining.
For precision and control, this Orbit Sander from MAXIMUM is made with a separate counterweight design that reduces vibration for improved comfort while its short height allows you to get closer to the workpiece.
If youre replacing deck or fence wood, its essential to start with a good cut job. And when it comes to woodworking projects, a portable saw is a must-have!
With so many options, it can be tough to know which is best for your project, but you cant go wrong with a circular saw, like this one from MAXIMUM. Its great for everything from cutting deck boards to doing small fixes around your house to make your space more enjoyable.
Any handyperson knows that cleaning and applying a protective coat of wood stain to your deck and fence can help extend the life of your hard work, while also giving it an instantly updated look.
This semi-transparent stain by Premier offers weather-repellent protection without obscuring the wood grain resists cracking and peeling for a long-lasting, natural Cedar-like finish.
The more time your deck and fence sit in the sun, the more damage will occur. To get rid of any mould, mildew or dust, we recommend cleaning wooden surfaces regularly especially if youve recently overhauled your deck or fence. Frequent maintenance will extend the life of your deck or fence and help prevent issues down the line.
Made without bleach or any harsh chemicals that can taint the finish of wood, Thomsons Deck Cleaner & Renewer instantly restores natural wood tone to old weathered wood while removing old wood fibres for a renewed look.

'Below Deck Mediterranean' returned with an all-new episode this week and the center of which happened to be Peter 'Pete' Hunziker and his inappropriate behavior and language at work. Despite repeated requests, Pete has continued to call his superior Malia White "sweetheart". He was politely asked to drop it but when he didn't give up, Malia had to take the issue up with captain Sandy Yawn, who then gave the deckhands an earful and asked them to maintain basic protocol. "Malia's not your friend. No sweetheart, no sweetie, no dear," Sandy said.
Pete, however, was not willing to back down and continued questioning Malia about who may have called her a "sweetheart". Upon explaining, he promised to maintain decorum, but that lasted only a couple of hours. When the crew arrived at a local Spanish scenic spot to set up lunch tables for the charter guests, Pete struggled with placing the tables. When Malia and Jessica More tried helping him out with suggestions, he said: "Too many chief stews."
Clearly, there's a problem when it comes to taking orders or working in a team and Pete has proven that enough number of times. He was even recently fired by Bravo for his racist remarks on social media. "Peter Hunziker of Below Deck Mediterranean has been terminated for his racist post," the network posted on Instagram and added: "Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance for subsequent episodes."
Meanwhile, fans are confused about why Pete is not being edited out completely from the show."Bravo is so messy and I love it. They said that we would edit out Pete this season on below deck but leave in scenes of him being a misogynistic a-hole. So great! #bravo #belowdeck," a fan commented. While another shared: "The bravo editors showing us how much pete sucks!! and he has the nerve to blame his sexism on being from the south!!! lol #BelowDeck #BelowDeckMed #BelowDeckMediterranean." Another tweeted, "Question for @BravoTV and #BelowDeck: are you incapable of casting men that arent absolutely vile misogynists? Here we are again with #BelowDeckMed." Another viewer cleared the air and shared that Bravo will start editing out his role on the show in the latter half of the season: "People dont pay attention do they?! @BravoTV was clear that editing Pete out would be the last half of the season since the first half was already edited. #BelowDeckMed."

On Monday, the banned and restricted announcement impacted both the Standard and Historic formats, alongside changing the way the companion mechanic works (You pay 3 generic mana to put your companion into your hand from exile). The bans themselves did not change as much in Historic as it did in Standard the only deck that disappeared completely was Jeskai Lukka whereas the change to Companion is going to have a pretty big impact on the metagame. In this article, Ill be going over what I think the top 5 Historic decks will be going forward, and why.
RB Lurrus is a deck that Crokeyz created and reached #1 mythic with. If you like Aristocrats decks, then this is the deck for you its extremely grindy and also has very explosive starts with Priest of the Forgotten Gods, so its good at any stage of the game. RB lurrus thrives when the meta consists of creature decks, as it can utilize Claim the Firstborn and a sacrifice outlet to kill creatures while pushing through damage. It is a bit weaker against control, but still has a good shot at winning the game. Even with the 3 mana tax, Lurrus is still very powerful against control because you are almost never casting it early in the game anyways. Before the bans, this deck was a contender for the #1 deck in Historic. Post-bans, however, this deck becomes a lot weaker due to the companion changes. When you would normally pay 3 for a Lurrus, you now have to pay 3 twice before you get any benefit this makes it impossible to play Lurrus + 1-drop on turn 4, which was something that the deck did often.
The reason that this deck is still on the list, despite losing a lot, it is still extremely explosive at times. For example, Priest of the Forgotten Gods + a Claim the Firstborn kills 2 of your opponents creatures while also dealing them damage and drawing cards. It retains its great matchup against creature decks and its grind potential against Control. There is definitely an argument for removing the Lurrus and adding Mayhem Devil, but the Devil usually feels too slow, it does not impact the board upon entry, and is 3 mana. Lurrus also provides the reach that the deck needs against control, while Mayhem Devil is a bit clunky. The situation where Mayhem Devil is very good is when there are lots of sacrifice decks in the meta or other decks with plenty of x/1s, and less control. If the meta shifts in that direction, I think that Mayhem Devil is a great consideration. Overall, I think that this deck will continue to be very strong while the meta still consists of creature decks once the meta becomes more control-heavy, this deck becomes a lot weaker.
Simic Nexus has long been one of the best decks, and that wont change now.. It uses Nexus of Fate and Wilderness Reclamation to take extra turns, while having Search for Azcanta and Tamiyo, Collector of Tales to dig for those cards and make this as consistent a game plan as possible. Meanwhile, it utilises fog effects as a great catch-all answer to buy turns against aggro decks.
The reason the deck has always been so strong, is that it has no terrible matchups. It has a good matchup against aggro (due to the fogs and bounce spells), and a good matchup against control (all the removal in their deck becomes useless). I would not recommend this deck to someone looking to play a quick easy match, because this deck will take a really long time to win, and involves some very complex lines. Simic Nexus was a strong deck before the changes, and not much has changed for it. You are usually using your Kaheera as a win condition, so the extra 3 mana doesnt really impact things too much. The fact that this deck lost practically nothing, and most decks lost a lot, is an extremely big upside. Nexus decks thrive when Teferi, Time Raveler isnt seeing much play, and Jeskai Lukka, one of the main Teferi decks, just became unplayable thanks to the bans. The deck also becomes a bit better against Winota, as they do not have those couple copies of Agent of Treachery; that card was a big problem for the nexus deck because you could fog all you want, but they would eventually steal some of your permanents. All of these reasons combined means that this deck has improved, and now has a good matchup against almost every deck.
Naya Winota is an aggro deck built around Winota, Joiner of Forces, allowing you to cheat an Angraths Mauraders into play and kill your opponent in one turn. Its ability to win on turn 4 many times had most people thinking that it is (and was) the best deck in Historic, but, in my opinion, the bans have impacted this deck a lot. The changes to Umori now prevent you from curving out with it as a powerful 4-drop play, making the deck substantially weaker. A smaller change that the deck faced was the loss of Agent of Treachery as, although only played in small numbers, Agent of Treachery was one of the only ways to beat Nexus through a fog. Many were surprised that Winota wasnt banned in Historic, as it was dominating the format up until this point. There is not much to be said about this deck as it has always been good, and will continue to be good. I know that a lot of people think that Winota should be #1 on this list, but the combination of Control having become more popular, and Umori having become worse, together make me think that this deck has lost its seat on the throne. That being said, the deck is still very competitive, and will definitely be one of the most played decks early into this new Historic format.
Mono Red is a strong deck in any format it is played in because of its extreme consistency and ability to end games extremely fast, due to its powerful early-game creatures, and potential to close games with burn spells even long after your opponents have stabilised. Another reason that this deck is rated so highly is that it has a good matchup against Winota, as you are able to kill most of their creatures post-board. In Historic, the deck gains access to Goblin Chainwhirler (which can kill 1 toughness creatures) and Burning-Tree Emissary (which allows for extremely explosive starts). The deck also gets to run many of the great cards from the standard versions, such as Embercleave (which will net you free wins a lot of the time), and Anax (which makes the deck very resilient against control). This versiondidnt lose anything with the changes, and is now better than the Mono Red Obosh list because of that. I think that this is one of the best decks to play right now, because people are still figuring out the format; its usually a good idea to play an aggro deck in an unknown format, because of their consistency and ability to prey upon untuned slower decks.
4
Teferi, Hero of Dominaria
Cards 60
Esper Kaheera Walkers is a pretty normal version of an Esper Control deck, though with more planeswalkers than usual as win conditions, alongside running Kaheera because the deck is creatureless so its completely free to include. The decks best matchup is aggro, as you can board wipe them many times, while also having ways to stall the board. The deck gains access to Teferi, Hero of Dominaria as a powerful threat that can deal with a wide variety of problem permanents. This deck was barely impacted by the changes because you almost never want to cast Kaheera on-curve anyway; there are so many good 3-drop plays the deck can make and, usually, Kaheera isnt one of the better ones. The deck also gains access to Timely Reinforcements post-board, which is an incredible hoser against aggro decks. The reason why I have Esper as #1 on this list, is because most of the meta is aggro, and those matchups tend to be great. With access to board wipes and life gain (such as timely reinforcements and Kayas wrath), you should have no trouble beating all of the aggro decks that I had on this list.
You may have noticed a pattern during this article: The decks that have risen to the top are the ones that benefited most from the bannings. Esper, for example, lost close to nothing, while many other decks were hampered so its position improved dramatically. I think that all 5 of these decks are good enough to do well with, and that they will remain at the top for some time. If you have any ideas of Historic decks you like that you think should be on this list, feel free to post them in the comment section of this article.
Thanks for reading, now go crush some Historic queues!

Madison Stalker may not have found love this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, but things certainly seem to be heating up for her in the romance department these days.
Parsifal III's second stew confirmed during the Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 1 reunionon Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home on June 1 (watch a clip from the sit-down, above)that she has been "talking" to someone recently but "not dating."
As if that wasn't intriguing enough, Madison also revealed that he's in "the Bravo family." Madison wouldn't give any more details about this mystery man, but host Andy Cohen still tried to pry some out of her. "My producers are telling me that you follow Colin [Macy-O'Toole]from Below Deck Med and Luke [Gulbranson] from Summer House on Instagram," Andy said.
Madison responded coyly, "I'll tell you right now, it's not Colin."
Andy then noted that if something is, in fact, going on between Madison and Luke, he "couldn't be more for this relationship."
When we caught up with Madison on June 3 for an interview in our new video seriesThe Final Word(clip above), we asked if Luke is, in fact, the special someone she's been talking to or if it's someone else. "I'm just really happy and I'm very smitten, and that's all I'm gonna say about it. I'm just really happy," Madison said."We're just being a little private and being in our bubble. But I'm very happy and I'm very smitten."
It looks like Madison is just going to keep us guessing. In advance of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion, she shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram on May 30 looking rather cozy with a bearded gentleman.
We can't wait to find out who the lucky fella is!
See everything theParsifal IIIcrew had to say about the reunion inThe Final Word, below.

New Cruise Ship's Pool Deck Will Open Directly on the Water - Cruise Fever

'Below Deck Mediterranean' Season 5 is just two episodes old and has hit rough waters already. Malia White is the bosun and managing a team of three deckhands - Pete Hunziker, Alex Radcliffe and Robert Westergaard. That's a lot of testosterone for anyone to handle at once and it appears, it was not a wise idea to have that many males in a team.
But Malia has been putting in her hundred percent, doing all that she can to run her crew smoothly but she can do only so much when her own team decides to act in an unorderly manner. They are not ready to follow instructions, especially Pete who even walked away from a conversation with Malia while she stood there briefing the others on what needed to be done next.
She is stern, confident and knows how to get her work done. However, she is also wary of the fact that strict female bosses are often not taken very kindly or listened to. But that didn't stop her from warning Peter for going against her. "The second you start going against me, you're not my lead deckhand anymore," she told Pete, while he listened quietly.
Will he comply and follow orders going forward? Time will tell. But for now, fans think Malia was too harsh on Peter.
"Malia seems to be a bit insecure with the men. She is her worst enemy. Pete didnt deserve the attitude #BelowDeckMed," a fan commented, while another shared: "Malia what don't you get? The reason Pete was casted is because he's an actual experienced bosun to assist in your non experience as one since you're a female prop this season. Why not hire a qualified female if production wanted to make a statement? #BelowDeckMed."
"Malia was so extra for nothing. If you thought he was wrong you could've just corrected instead of being passive aggressive. Somebody was trying to learn #BelowDeckMed," a viewer expressed. "Malia the deck crew looks at you sideways because it's painfully obvious you're not qualified to be a bosun. You even sound confused when you talk #BelowDeckMed," a user posted.

On Monday, Wizards of the Coast hit us with the banned and restricted announcement. Fires of Invention and Agent of Treachery have been banned in Standard, while the companions have been nerfed pretty heavily (you now have to pay 3 mana at sorcery speed to put one in your hand). So what do these changes mean? Well, for starters, the power level of the format will go down a lot. The undisputed best deck Lukka Fires has taken a big hit, basically becoming unplayable. Winota, possibly the second best deck, cant really function without Agent. Basically, things will come back to a pre-Ikoria state, which is pretty wild; its almost as if this set didnt exist for Standard purposes. Today, Im going to go over the 5 decks I believe will be at the top of the format moving forward. Ive ordered these from worst to best. Lets get started.
It feels like Temur Adventures always finds a way to be relevant in Standard. This deck didnt improve much with the new set, with its only new cards being Ketria Triome and Adventurous Impulse. After the bans, this might be a sleeper pick because the power level of the format will go down significantly, while Temur Adventures has been basically the same since the deck came into existence. Adventures has always been very solid against Teferi decks, while being playable against aggro thanks to Bonecrusher Giant. The bad matchups have always been decks with Mayhem Devil and Temur Reclamation. Devil took a backseat to Lurrus but, with the companions nerfs, it might be back on the menu. Only time will tell if Temur will end up tier 1, but it might be a good choice for another weekend, if Bant becomes prevalent.
This deck came to existence with Ikorias release, with all the nonland cards in the maindeck belonging to that set. The Lurrus nerf will hit this deck hard; its unclear to me if its supposed to be in the deck. There might be a different variant of this deck, with 3 mana cost cards, where you would omit it completely. Right now, I think Id start with it in my companion slot to see how much worse its gotten. Still, the plan of playing turn 1 Fox, make it a 5/5 and kill your opponent with it hasnt gotten worse. This was the best aggro deck pre-ban and that will probably still be the case in the new world. One interesting card Id like to try out is Reptilian Reflection; this could be a very resilient threat against Shatter the Sky, and it can also finish your opponent out of nowhere, because it has haste.
Good old Bant. We basically go to the version we played before Ikoria hit. Only upgrade is Shark Typhoon over Dream Trawler. In a direct fight of the Sphinx vs the Shark, the latter usually wins so therefore it makes sense to play the powerful enchantment. Other than that, this deck has a great sideboard, which can be adjusted for ones expected metagame. This deck still benefits from the powerhouse of Teferi + Elspeth Conquers Death, and Nissa might become a bit better too, because you will no longer fear it being stolen by Agent of Treachery. This might not be the best deck for week one, because its a reactive one; it might be better to wait before the meta settles a little bit to have a better sense of how to build it. Bant struggles a bit in game one against aggro so you should play carefully and safely, and devote a lot of cards in your sideboard against it.
I already mentioned Mayhem Devil coming back, and this is the shell Id start with. Crokeyz has been championing a similar list for a while, and I like it too. The combination of Citadel + Mayhem Devil can lead to wins out of nowhere. This deck grinds well with Trail, Citadel and Castle Locthwain, while also being strong against aggro thanks to Claim and Devil.
Similar to Bant, this deck has a pretty flexible sideboard with a plethora of options to choose from. There are a reasonable mix of cards, some of them even very dedicated against certain strategies. For example Soul-Guide Lantern is great against the Cycling deck to stop Zenith Flare, and Cindervines shines against Reclamation because of the namesake card. However, Im still a bit worried about the Reclamation matchup. Historically Reclamation has come up ahead against this deck, because your clock isnt super fast, and they will kill you with Explosion before you can grind them down. This might be a big problem, because, well, you probably already guessed that Reclamation is number one on my list.
Fans of Ivan Floch rejoice! Ivan has dominated in the past couple months with this deck and we might well see that trend continue. With no nerfs to this archetype and a sweet addition in Shark Typhoon, this will be the deck to beat on the first week. Not much to talk about here in terms of card specifics. Ivan has already written about this deck, so I recommend checking out his piece (Ivan Flochs Temur Reclamation Deck Guide: Navigating Around Ikoria Standard). One new card Id like to try is Fire Prophecy. Scorching Dragonfire has been getting the nod over the Prophecy, but without Lurrus in the format and Anax no longer seeing much play, it might be better to improve your hand over exiling a creature. With Yorion decks being taken out of the format, I dont see a deck that beats Reclamation easily and Im honestly surprised that it wasnt hit by the banhammer as well. Maybe players can adapt to this deck, but its honestly super versatile with Shark Typhoon providing you an answer to the problematic planeswalkers.
Thats it from me today, do you think I missed anything? Are there any other decks you would deem to be tier 1 in the new format? Let me know in the comments.

What began as a source of transportation for Memphian Madison Harrison transformed into a passion project. Harrison launched MadAir Decks, a custom longboard and skateboard deck business that provides an avenue for Mid-South artists and skate culture to come together.
Anyone who is able to channel their vision and turn it into a reality, is a person to be admired. And thats just who Madison Harrison is. She is a hard-working, boss babe who has created a growing brand all while shes a full time student and worker.
Harrison saw a lack of community for skaters and wanted to change that. She launched MadAir Decks, and through designing decks and collaborating with local artists, she was able to provide an avenue for creatives and skaters alike. The mission now brings local creatives together through collaboration, individual expression, networking and profit.
MadAir Decks Founder, Madison Harrison
I started long boarding as my main source of transportation a few years back. I was surrounded by friends who were artists and thats when the idea came to me. I was long boarding and working so closely with artists already, that I wanted to combine both of those worlds. I wanted to support local artists and tie it together with skate culture.
Photo: @savibelle
MadAir supplies the blank decks and artists get them for free. Usually, the artists are given creative freedom as long as the board remains rideable. Then, the MadAir logo is placed on top and covered by a clear cover rather than a traditional black grip tape. Once they are finished, they are featured at events for a set rate.
The decks are unique canvases that can serve the skating community as well, because not only can they be used for skateboarding and long boarding, they are also pieces of art that can be displayed with a wall mount.
MadAir Decks currently does not have a brick and mortar location, but rather hosts events to promote and sell their decks. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has affected the small business ability to host events, but the decks and merch are still available on their website.
Harrison encourages people of any age to pick up a board and try cruising on a longboard or skateboard. The longboarding girl boss herself says no one is too old to pick up this hobby!

Andy Cohen revisited the biggest moments of Season 1 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht when the whole Parsifal III crew reunited on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: @ Home on June 1. The yachties looked back on the most-talked-about moments of the season, from Paget Berry and Georgia Grobler's flirting to Parker McCown's resignation to Adam Glick and Jenna MacGillivray's relationship.
However, the conflict reached new heights when it came time to break down all the drama in the interior this season, especially Jenna and Madison Stalker's working relationship. We caught up with Jenna via video chat on June 2, the day after the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion aired, and asked how she felt things went with Madison during the virtual sit-down.
"The same as they always do," Jenna said in our new video seriesThe Final Word, which you can view, above. "I think it's very clear that her and I are just fire and ice, and we're just not gonna be on the same page, and that's OK."
During the reunion, Madison confronted Jenna about how much she hurt her this season, expressing that she felt "excluded" by the chief stew and that she made her "life a living hell." "Well, to be honest, I'm not responsible for that. Tell me exactly how I bullied you to the extent that you felt that you needed to cry every night or that I excluded you," Jenna responded to the claims Madison made during the reunion. "Like I said, we were all joking and laughing together all the time, and literally everyone but Madison and Parker were on board with that. We'll continue joking around, and we weren't joking about them. To be honest, I never excluded her. I didn't have anything in common with her."
As the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion came to a close, Jenna delivered a tearful apology to Madison for her behavior this season. But, as Jenna mentioned during the reunion, this wasn't the first time she had shown remorse for how things went down with the second stew. "With Adam, when we left the season, and we were doing our road trip, I would constantly talk about this feeling like, 'Oh, I'm really frustrated that Madison still thinks I'm this a--hole, and it's really bothersome to me.' He's like, 'Well, maybe you should contact her.' And I waslike, 'Yeah, I will,'" Jenna said. "So I sent her an apology, and it was like, again, nothing I ever did or said would just be resolved. [Madison] at first wrote, 'OK, yeah, there shouldn't be bad blood.' And then it was like, as soon as thathappened, 'Well, why did you want to fire me? Why did this happen?' I could never just have a conversation with Madison. I tried, I really did."
Madison said that she accepted Jenna's apology during the reunion and that she had moved on from their drama. The two even talked after the reunion, according to Jenna. "We had a phone call after the reunion, and she seemed to accept my apology, but now is still posting negative stuff about me on social media. She is liking the comments of trolls. She is reposting things that speak negatively about me," Jenna said. "I've never said anything about her on social media. She has done that from the start about me. So it's like, that's not a good person to me."
When asked if there was anything she could have done differently in orderto have a smoother time working with Madison this season, Jenna said that she "would've suggested firing Madison." "She should've been let go," Jenna said.
Jenna added that Madison "equally" didn't like her this season and that they would both probably agree that they would never want to work with each other again. The chief stew alsosaid she doesn't see them having much of a personal relationship in the future. "We go nowhere. I live my life, and she lives her life," Jenna shared. "Hopefully, she's happy. I wish nothing but happiness for anyone. I wouldn't have ill wishes for her. I hope that she does well in life, and that's all."

Star Trekis expanding on TV in new and exciting ways. For one, the franchise is getting some new animated shows, for the first time since the original Trekanimated series aired back in the 1960s. As well as a kid-friendly Nickelodeon venture, theresStar Trek: Lower Decks,an adult-oriented show coming to CBS All Access from Rick & Mortywriter Mike McMahan. ATrekanimated workplace comedy is a unique twist for the brand, and were being promised big laughs from it.
While speaking to Collider, producer Akiva Goldsman stated that its a seriously funny show, describing McMahan himself as a genius.
[Lower Decks] literally couldnt seem funnier to me, Goldsman said. There was a test reel going around the office and I didnt see it and that sucks. But Ive seen the still frames, and the pitches for it are funny. Like literally the pitch for it is the funniest thing youve ever heard. Second Contact? I mean, its the greatest thing ever I think Mike McMahan is actually a genius.
McMahan recently opened up about the approach hes taking toTrekcontinuity inLower Decks.Hes confirmed that it will take place around the same time asThe Next Generation, featuring connections and references that fans can pick up on that will firmly root it in established canon. At the same time, though, McMahan wanted to be careful to make the series accessible to newbies and those just looking for a fun animated sitcom.
Lower Decks is set on the lower levels of the U.S.S. Cerritos, a not-so-important ship in Starfleets armada. The quirky cast of Ensign protagonists includes the irreverent Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), stickler for the rules Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid) and Starfleet fangirl Tendi (Noel Wells).
Production has managed to avoid being delayed by the pandemic, with work continuing during lockdown, so we should be able to see Star Trek: Lower Decks on CBS All Access sometime later this year. The same goes forDiscoveryseason 3.Picardseason 2, meanwhile, which has been held up, is likely due sometime in 2021.
