He further explains that he learnt this art through two of his friends, DJ Smallz and DJ Kealex. "DJ Kealex used to lock me inside the room to help me practice, then he handed me over to DJ Smallz who brought the best out of me and helped me polish my skills. I owe my success to these two men," he points out.

His work has landed on the ears of some prominent international DJs like; Rocco, Copyright, Osca P, Abiah Soul and Ronado of Deep Journey Recordings who have shown interest in his work. His music gained popularity through the accessibility of his digital house music for downloads and it has again managed to appear in top charts.

The talented DJ is also a fourth year student at the University of Botswana (UB) studying Business Administration in Marketing. He says he balances his DJ'ing, producing and school life well.

"I give my school work more time during the week and I usually attend to music and DJ'ing at weekends. I can confidently say that so far, all has been good," he says.

As if being a DJ and music producer is not enough, Mabe also works for Pryda Twisters, a company that provides P.A systems, lightening, stage and event management services, he proudly describes himself as a business minded person who is quick to grab any opportunity given to him.

The Ten Network has reported a 21.9 per cent fall in its revenue and a net loss of $243 million for the six months to the end of February, taking a hit from restructuring and impairment charges.

The broadcasting company did not declare an interim dividend.

Ten recorded a non-recurring cost of $304 million, including a $292 million television licence impairment charge and restructuring charges of $11.9 million.

The network reported a net profit of $14 million in 2012 first-half reporting period.

Shares are up 1.7 per cent to 30 cents this morning.

Tens new CEO Hamish McLennan said the network would not target a young and promiscuous audience that saw it produce failures like Being Lara Bingle and The Shire last year.

Were looking at a slightly older skew said Mr McLennan. Young viewers are the most promiscuous in the market place.

Mr McLennan said the results were a reflection of poor rating and revenue performance, as well as significant non-recurring charges.

Iris Skateboards Turns Damaged Decks Into Radiant Rides - April 10, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

George Rocha turned his life-long skateboarding passion into a career of building massive concrete skateparks. Now hes added another product to his repertoire: artisan-quality wooden skateboards assembled from strips of used and broken boards.

Modern skateboards are made of plywood. It gives them both strength and flexibility the perpendicular placement of each wooden layer helps the overall board withstand cracks, while the complex curvatures are made possible by pressing theindividually pliable sheets of wood into a mold while being glued. As plywood decks became the norm, manufacturers began to color layers to add a visual element. Strips of red, blue, yellow, pink or various combinations could be found between the light hues of natural wood, with splashy graphics on the boards bottoms and black grip tape on top, sometimes cut into artistic patterns.

For years, this is how skateboards have appeared. Still, forced to take a dizzying amount of abuse, they eventually end up breaking.

Growing up in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Rocha quickly embraced the tools, materials, and DIY spirit that embody the world of skateboarding. Now, youthfully in his late 30s, hes helped build countless skateparks all over the country, both giant indoor wooden courses in the cold northeast and oversized concrete playgrounds full of bowls and obstacles.

Its his latest venture, Iris Skateboards that is catching peoples eyes, however. Rocha assembles new decks using the remnants of broken and discarded skateboards, laminating them together and slicing the resulting stack sideways to create his material. The result is gorgeous and always unique, turning the distinct patterning of the thin multicolored ply into the standout feature of the decks tops and bottoms.

The technique is reminiscent of artistHaroshi, who sculpts skateboards into intricate 3-D creations. The Iris skateboards stand apart with being a functional form, while still turning heads.

Rocha sums up the magic of his boards in simple terms. Skateboarders love their skateboards.

Infrasense Continues with Ground Penetrating Radar and Infrared Surveys for Wisconsin Bridge Decks - March 28, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Infrasense was recently contracted to perform ground penetrating radar (GPR) and infrared thermography (IR) services on 17 bridge decks in Wisconsin's southwest region. These tests provide condition information for the reinforced concrete decks quickly and without the need for coring.

Arlington, MA (PRWEB) March 27, 2013

Since 2007, Infrasense has surveyed more than 300 bridge decks across Wisconsin using its multi-phase approach. After completing a quick and simple preliminary (Level 1) analysis, many are found to be in good condition and require no further analysis. Those found to have more significant deterioration levels are mapped in detail (Level 2), providing data to accurately plan, program, and budget maintenance and rehabilitation.

Ground penetrating radar (GPR) data is collected to estimate rebar depth and corrosion conditions. The GPR data is collected in a series of lines spaced 3 feet transversely across the width of the deck, with each line representing a cross sectional slice of the deck at a particular offset. Decks in good condition consist of strong and uniform radar reflections from the rebar. GPR data with weak and inconsistent reflections indicate rebar-level deterioration in the bridge deck.

The infrared data is collected in a series of passes across each deck, with each pass covering a deck width of between 12 and 15 feet. For a typical interstate deck with 2 lanes and left and right shoulders, the survey is carried out in four passes one in each lane and one in each shoulder. The survey produces a series of infrared images collected every foot of vehicle travel. During the survey, selected areas that appear delaminated in the IR image are manually sounded to confirm the presence of delamination. Because many of these decks have overlays, the reinforcing can be 4-5 inches from the surface, and sounding is not always capable of detecting delamination at this depth. For those locations where the delamination cannot be confirmed by sounding, testing is carried out using the Impact-Echo method. By analyzing wave frequencies through the concrete, the impact-echo equipment is capable of detecting delamination at any depth throughout the thickness of the deck.

Many agencies apply GPR and IR separately as tools for bridge deck assessment, or use only one preferred method. Each method has specific strengths and weaknesses, and Infrasense uses a combination of both to create a more effective bridge deck condition assessment. By combining IR and GPR surveys, the maximum amount of information can be obtained for the least cost. Decks with concrete overlays are common in Wisconsin, and illustrate how GPR and IR methods complement each other. Infrared surveys are effective in detecting overlay debonding, while GPR is effective in detecting rebar-level delamination. Combining GPR and IR methods becomes economical when applied with a two-level survey approach.

Skate Guitars breathes new life into old decks - March 27, 2013 by Mr HomeBuilder

Skate Guitars are repurposed from old skateboard decks

Though looking street-worn, beaten and abused can actually be a rather favorable look for a skateboard deck, there comes a time when stylish scuff gives way to unsightly eyesore and it's time to break in a new board. Rather than simply throw away all that quality wood, offbeat Argentinian luthier Ezequiel Galasso and pro skateboarder Gianfranco de Gennaro Gilmour have teamed up to repurpose old boards into "born to shred" guitars.

Unfortunately, there's not a great deal of information available about Skate Guitars. We do know that each guitar is actually made from the remains of at least two end-of-life skateboards, with both the body and neck made from layered maple. Since these git-fiddles already have more than their fair share of scrapes, dings and scratches, you can really go wild without fear of inflicting too much damage to the finish something that the creators seem to encourage.

All of the instruments are handmade at the Galasso Guitars workshop in Buenos Aires, and the externally-mounted hardware (including P-90, lipstick and humbucking pickups) appears to come in a number of different configurations. Each of the thin-bodied show models photographed in the gallery sports a single volume knob and Galasso branding on the head. One or two even pack whammy bars.

Though models do look to have made their way into the hands of some players, we've been unable to get any pricing or availability information from the Skate Guitar team.
