Clear the decks, the iPhone 6 is on the way.
In a bid to get rid of old iPhone stock before Apple launches the next iteration of its handset, Walmart has moved to slash the cost of the 5C model, making it even more wallet-friendly than before. The 5S has also been discounted.
Starting Thursday, you can now pick up the 5C (16GB) for a mere 97 cents (down from $29), while the flagship 5S model (also 16GB) has had $20 lopped off, leaving it with a $79 price tag.
The deal, which will reportedly run for 90 days, applies when you sign up for a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, or US Cellular.
However, with the offer running for 90 days, and theiPhone 6 expected to launch next month, consumers interested inan Apple smartphone would be better off waiting tosee how the market looks once Tim Cook has finished his spiel. The likelihood is youll be presented with an even better deal on the 5C and 5S,or you might even be tempted to gofor the new model.

Though we know nothing for certain about the iPhone 6 this is Apple were talking about, after all recent leaks, rumors, and speculation suggest the tech powerhouse is on the verge of rolling outtwo devices, both sporting bigger displays than those of the current iPhones.
The expected 4.7-inch version is believed to be ready for a full launch, while a number of reports have suggested the rumored 5.5-inch alternative has been experiencing technical difficulties and thereforemight not land for a few more months.. If it does launch at the same time as the smaller version, supplies may at first be limited.

A Viroqua Boy Scout recently completed his Eagle Scout service project constructing two decks along the shore at Jersey Valley Park.
Derek Johnson, 14, an incoming freshman at Viroqua High School, worked with mentors to design and build two decks that are adjacent to a paved walkway along the western shore of Jersey Valley Lake.
Johnson began planning the project in October of 2013 and received approval from the Vernon County Land and Water Conservation Department to proceed with the project in January of 2014. Construction began on May 31 and the decks were complete on June 12.
Im grateful to Vernon County and everyone who supported me in my project, Johnson said. Im thankful to those who volunteered their time to help build the decks.
Johnsons project used money from a state of Wisconsin matching grant to Vernon County to help improve recreation at the park. The total cost of material for the project was $2,499.10. Nuzum Building Supply of Viroqua donated more than $400 to the project.
Johnson gave his final project report to the Vernon County Land And Water Conservation Committee, last Thursday. Committee chairman Will Beitlich said the county was thankful for the project and what it adds to Jersey Valley Park.
Johnsons mentors for the project were Vernon County Parks Administrator Rod Engh and his uncle Tom Mullikin of Wauzeka.
Johnson said a total of 308 volunteer hours were donated to the project by 19 different Scouts, adult Scout leaders, family, friends or community members.
Johnson has been a Scout since becoming a Tiger Cub Scout in 2005. He received his Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouts, from Pack 9, Viroqua, in 2011. He attended the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree at the Bechtel Summit Reserve, W. Va., in the summer of 2013. He has served as Troop Historian, Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader and is currently the Order of the Arrow Troop Representative for Troop 75.
Johnsons future plans are to join the military and/or study police science to become a law enforcement officer.

Lining the brightly lit hallways of Populous, one of the leading architectural firms behind college sports, there are hundreds of scale models and graphic renderings of college football stadiums in various stages of renovation and construction.
There are blueprints for Kyle Field at Texas A&M, in the midst of a $420 million redevelopment. There's a model of TFC Bank Stadium at Minnesota, the recent replacement for the Metrodome as home of the Golden Gophers. And there are pictures of McClane Stadium, the glitzy new home for Baylor.
Each project showcases ways Populous is helping schools to lure fans to their next-generation stadiums in an era where good seats are not enough: enhanced Wi-Fi, better video boards and party decks for socializing. The results are twofold: The flashy facilities offer a better game-day experience while also generating more revenue than their predecessors.
"When you do a stadium, it's not a normal building. It's a building, but it has to wrap this big stage where all this athletic drama takes place," explained Jeff Spear, a senior architect at Populous who's been responsible for many of the projects, including the Baylor stadium. "What they want is a reflection of their university and a stadium that sells their brand."
When it comes to trends in stadium design, the folks at Populous are experts. The Kansas City-based company traces its roots back more than three decades, and has been responsible for everything from Reliant Stadium in Houston to the main Olympic stadiums in London and Sochi, Russia.
"The thing about college football is it's this big event where you're rooting for your alma mater," Spear said, "and now your alumni are returning to campus and spending money."
That's the hope, anyway.
Flat-screen televisions have made the home viewing experience better than ever, and the rising costs of tickets and travel have sent many fans to watch games from the comfort of their couch. It's a problem that has plagued professional sports for years but has trickled down to colleges, where the prevailing notion was that the alumni would always show.
At Tennessee, in the heart of the football-crazed SEC, attendance sagged for years before a modest bounce-back last season. Yet empty seats still abound at cavernous Neyland Stadium, even with recent improvements that reduced capacity, improved premium seating and offered other enhancements, such as LED signage, better restrooms and wider concourses.
In the Big Ten, eight schools showed a decline in average attendance last season.

Former prime minister Anand Panyarachun said that coup-makers should ensure that the problems that led to the coup in the first place do not return.
"We should not let problems such as corruption or complete control of power to return, otherwise people will ask what the coup has achieved. We should ensure this doesn't happen," he said.
Anand, who was appointed prime minister after the 1991 coup, said a military power seizure was not always a bad thing, though he did not support it.
"I insist, I don't want to see another military coup in Thailand. But, if there is a government that offers space for the people to take part in politics and the economy, and also returns power to the people, then the military will have no reason to stage a coup," he pointed out.
He was speaking at an interview entitled "Ask Khun Anand about Today's Issues" conducted by media personality Pinyo Trisuriyatamma at the Montien Hotel on Thursday night.
After much pushing, Anand finally said he was not afraid to voice his thoughts about the latest coup, but his answer would not change what had happened, adding that there was no point in discussing the power seizure.
"I was not a democratically elected prime minister, but what did I do that was not right while in government?" he asked.
"I don't think democracy is just about elections. Democracy entails several other things such as democratic values, organisations set up to ensure checks and balances, transparency, a fair judicial system, the right to express opinions.
"An election gives us our representatives. But once elected, these representatives try to make personal gains while claiming they are honorary representatives. This is worrying, as people get tired of democracy. People become sick of politicians even though there are many good politicians."
Yet, the former PM appeared to be optimistic about post-coup politics.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadavs ambitious road project, the Agra-Lucknow access-controlled Greenfield Expressway will be developed in five separate packages. The Securities and Exchange Board of India on Sunday set the stage for launch of Real Estate and Infrastructure Investment Trusts, commonly referred to as REITs and InvIT.
In the final regulations, the market regulator has made some major changes to what it had proposed earlier.
These include allowing foreign institutional investor participation and reducing the minimum asset size for a REIT.
Those in the sector said these two new instruments had the potential of attracting nearly Rs 1 lakh crore (Rs 1 trillion) to the cash-starved real estate and infrastructure sector.
The proposals were cleared at a meeting of the Sebi board, which was addressed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
In Budget 2014-15, the finance minister had announced giving a pass-through status to these trusts.
In his first interaction with Sebis board after assuming charge as finance minister, Jaitley asked the regulator to be vigilant about possible violations in the marketplace and to come up wit measures to attract retail investors and address their grievances.
Sebi Chairman U K Sinha said after the meeting that these trusts would help in the progress of the real estate and infrastructure sectors.
While the draft guidelines did not give a clarity on foreign investments in these trusts, the final norms have permitted foreign entities to invest in REITs.
These investments, however, will be subject to certain guidelines, which will be issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
