The decks have been cleared for the bifurcation of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and having ironed out differences about the division of financials and assets, a draft has been prepared for approval by the powers-that-be.

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation will be up and running very soon, going by the indications at a press conference here on Monday, held to launch a novel, e-ticket booking facility on smart phone by the Managing Director, J. Purnachandra Rao. It is understood that by and large the bifurcation of the corporation is through and its only a matter of days when it would be announced officially.

The launch of the e-ticket booking facility on smart phones is targeted to increase the number of seats booked in advance by at least 30 per cent. In view of the States bifurcation, passengers can now book tickets through two portals http://www.apsrtconline.in and http://www.tsrtcbus.in.

Currently, of the 1.41 lakh seats on 3,668 services offered daily for advance/current reservation, about 45,000 are booked in advance through various channels. They include 29 per cent through online passenger reservation system, 37 per cent through the ATBs (Authorised Ticket Booking Agents), 31 per cent through physical booking at counters in bus stations and 3 per cent through portals like Abhibus, MakeMyTrip, BusIndia and the like.

The facility now being offered enables the passengers to reserve tickets in advance through smart phones. Passengers can visit http://www.apsrtconline.in or http://www.tsrtcbus.in and book their tickets through Book Tickets tab. Mr. Purnachandra Rao said that while there were an estimated 10 crore desktop and notebook personal computers in use across the country, there were a whopping 20 crore smart phones being used by people.

With people relying on hand-held devices, it was in the fitness that the RTC facilitate reservation through mobile devices, be they smart phones or tablets, he said. This is expected to lead to an increase in users which in turn will prompt a rise in e-ticket booking and thus a better occupancy ratio can be achieved.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. Touring Biltmore's interior festooned with miles of garlands, around 30,000 lights, 150 candles, and hundreds of live poinsettias and other plants is definitely cause enough to make a day trip to the estate sometime through the holidays.

But there's much more to be seen and experienced throughout the estate during the Christmas season, including separately ticketed candlelight tours of America's largest private home in the evenings.

We've also found in the many shops on the estate, including at the winery, a great place to pickup hostess gifts, stocking stuffers and Christmas presents large and small.

Biltmore's many dining options include several holiday-themed menus. Our favorite is the candlelight dinner buffet at the Deerpark Restaurant.

Back to the basics:

* Inside Biltmore House this season you will find 60 decorated Christmas trees, including the 34-foot Fraser fir in the Banquet hall.

* 135,000 LED and mini lights are found around the estate. 45,000 lights illuminate the Front Lawn tree, and "up" lighting accents the poplar trees lining the front lawn. Three hundred luminaries line the driveway and Esplanade in front of Biltmore House.

Biltmore decks the halls for Christmas

THEY have been decking the halls at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock to get visitors in the mood for Christmas.

House manager Kate Ballenger has been in charge of making the stately home look festive and it took three days to complete the task.

She said the Great Hall, Saloon and Long Library have now been transformed with trees and tinsel.

Ms Ballenger added: Outside in the Great Courtyard, 1,750 yards of fairy lights have been used for the palaces own Christmas trees.

This years theme is glitter and gold and 4,000 baubles have also been used to decorate trees grown on the estate.

Visitors can learn about the palaces Christmas traditions on a special tour.
