Custom Home Builder Bluffton Launches Plans for New Development - March 11, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Bluffton South Carolina (PRWEB) March 11, 2014

Custom Home Builder Bluffton is pleased to announce that it is launching plans for new home development in the Bluffton, SC, area.

Whether it is building a new home from the ground up or creating and designing that "masterpiece" residence, the company puts all of its focus and energy upon the project. A member of Custom Home Builder Bluffton's consulting team can meet with a prospective buyer, sit down and listen to what he or she specifically wants in the home.

The company emphasizes listening to the buyer, then offering solutions to his or her dreams. The consultant and buyer review building costs, from foundation to roofing and those all-important building permits. Plus, the consultant -- thanks to many years of experience in the business -- maps out budgeting plans that will meet the buyer's own financial picture.

Once everything is in place, Custom Home Builder Bluffton's consultant then turns to the many licensed contractors, carpenters, electricians and plumbers that the company works with directly. The company makes sure all of the contractors are up to speed on current home building styles, permits and that they will keep their word.

This team goes out to the building site and takes a look at where the buyer wants the home built. The initial phase involves building a firm foundation and, with 21st Century technology available, can install hydraulic pillars to make sure the home can avoid developing unseemly cracks.

The company also believes a new home deserves to have great looks both inside and outside. An interior designer can take the home design and, along with the buyer, see how he or she wants the custom home or luxury home to appear. Selecting either hardwood flooring or carpet, different types of paint colors, and kitchen and bathroom accessories are all covered. A landscaper can sit down and offer unique grass and plant options best suited for the Bluffton area. Whether its flowers or bushes that pique the buyer's interest, the landscaper can get the job done.

Home show features modern technology - March 9, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Green is the new black - or at least an ever-increasingly popular trend at the 55th annual West Branch Susquehanna Home Builders show at Lycoming College Recreation Center.

Ray Venema, owner and president of Susquehanna Builders, Cogan Station, is a certified green builder. He's no stranger to the home show, as he's come since 1999 and is past president, and is on the board of the National Association of Home Builders.

What's new this year is the Timber Block log homes, which Venema calls "revolutionary" for their insulation qualities.

RASHELLE CAREY/Sun-Gazette Ray Venema, right, owner and president of Susquehanna Builders, shows off his new Timer Block construction to a home show visitor.

"You can save up to 60 percent on energy versus a traditional log home," Venema said. The R-30 insulation exceeds all new and proposed state building codes for insulation. It also uses 60 percent less wood than standard logs, and there's no post-construction log cracking or "checking" as the wood has a much lower moisture content.

Cork flooring also is becoming more popular, Venema said, and it's made by peeling bark off trees - which regenerates - and turned into flooring.

Venema began working with the Timber Block because of the declining economic market; while he still specializes in custom homes, it broadens the options. Plus, while the natural gas companies have offered employment around the area, Venema said that left a big hole in the labor market.

"Labor supply in Pennsylvania is drying up because (the laborers) are going to the gas companies," he said.

That means there's more reliance on factories to produce exterior walls, Venema said - which offers some positives, such as speeding up construction time, saving customers money and better wood quality as it's built in a controlled climate versus out in the elements.

However, father-son duo Greg and Kayle Sickler, of Sylvania, are keeping the laborer tradition alive, hand-cutting and assembling all their timber frames for Greg Sickler's business, Settlement Post & Beam. It takes about five weeks to hand-cut timber for a 2,200-square-foot home, for example, and a week to assemble and build. All are pre-assembled to ensure correct fit.

    Statesman Content Marketing

Austin is one of the fastest-growing markets in the country, and Partners in Building is growing just as fast.

Over the past four years, Partners in Building has expanded its Build on Your Lot and custom home building operations into the leading new home communities all around Austin. The expansion includes luxury, custom home developments exclusive to Partners in Building such as The Canyons at Lake Travis. And that means Partners in Building is fast becoming the go-to custom builder around Austin.

We have positioned ourselves in master-planned communities like Teravista and established our Build on Your Lot program in prominent areas like Crystal Falls and Spanish Oaks, says Shannon Nelson, Austin Manager for Partners in Building.

The growth of Partners in Building will continue in the coming months. The company is currently scheduled to open for sales in Rancho Sienna, Newland Communities newest master-planned community just north of Austin on Ronald Reagan Boulevard. It also has a model under construction and are open for sales in the pristine Jack Nicklaus golf course community of Cimarron Hills in Georgetown. Build on Your Lot is expanding operations, too, along the Highway 281 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.

Homebuyers in our price range expect a luxury product, Nelson says, and we provide that. But we provide a true, custom experience for our home owners. That ability to build a unique, one-of-a-kind home is so appealing to someone building a home $400,000 to a million plus. Its something a lot of other luxury builders cant provide.

Vail Daily column: How to choose a builder - March 8, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Dear Joan,

We have always wanted to build a home that fit all of our wants and needs. We know we can still buy a lot in the community we prefer for a good price and we have noticed that the prices are starting to go up, so we are ready to finally make our move. Our question to you is how do I pick a contractor/builder? We know there are a lot of builders in the valley, but we need some criteria to base our decision on. Can you help?

    Dear Dream Home Builder,

Building a custom home is an exciting endeavor, and you are right to be concerned with picking a good builder so that it does not become an agonizing experience. You are right that you can still get a good price on lots in many communities in this valley and hopefully you have your financing lined up if you are not using cash. I would say there are two main concerns when you are interviewing builders.

First and foremost is finding a builder with a solid reputation. I would ask for references from past clients, and hopefully names and numbers so that you can speak with past clients of the builder. Equally important would be if you could look at homes the builder has built in the past.

Second, it is important to find a builder that is flexible and will build the home you want, not necessarily what the builder wants. Of course a good builder will make suggestions, but ultimately its your choice.

One easy way to find a good builder is to talk to your reputable Realtor. Experienced Realtors can also help you with recommendations on other qualified professionals.

My last advice is to not build on the cheap. It is best to spend the most you can comfortably afford on the design, foundation, framing and finishes in the most important rooms. If the floor plan does not work for you, and for most families, then you will never realize the price you want when you sell someday, and almost everyone sells someday. Of course the kitchen is extremely important in design and finishes. Next would be the master bedroom and master bath. Even if you do not need a family room, it is a request of many buyers, so give that some thought when you are doing your design work. Do not exceed your budget, but remember quality pays off in the long run. Take your time finding the right people to help you build your dream, as they will make building an exciting, fulfilling experience.
