Twin Cities Builders Remodelers Showcase Excites New Home Remodeling Ideas - April 15, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Minneapolis, Twin Cities Minnesota (PRWEB) April 13, 2014

The Twin Cities Builders Remodelers Showcase (BRS), held on April 3 is the largest building industry product show in the Upper Midwest and brings together home building and remodeling industry professionals. The event was a great success and showcased the latest trends and product releases for Twin Cities home remodeling ideas. Professionals got a read on the pulse of the home remodeling industry in the coming year and homeowners are armed with new remodeling ideas.

"Minneapolis homeowners who begin a major home renovation by considering and evaluating current housing market circumstances and their family's future goals will make better informed decisions," says Jenna Thuening, owner of Home Destination. "For homeowners weighing remodeling project costs in view of their future return value, an objective look at today's current predictions from raw housing data leads to the best remodeling spends."

Metro home builders offer diversity in housing design and price, which draws crowds to gather remodeling ideas or simply admire. Twin Cities home buyers who are challenged by low housing inventory may be turning to custom-designed homes as another option they hadn't previously considered. Others seek model homes showcasing the best of a community. Others are choosing to simply remodel their existing home. The uptick in requests for home remodeling bids signals a deepening confidence in the Twin Cities housing recovery.

Hanley's Remodeling Cost vs Value Report 2014 for the West / North Central region, which includes the Twin Cities, helps Twin Cities home builders and consumers determine where the best dollar is spent on a home remodel.

Here is a summarized list compiled by Home Destination of inexpensive Twin Cities home remodeling projects:

1.Remodel With Paint - Whether its a major overhaul or a simple makeover, putting a fresh coat of paint on a home is one of the best projects to protect a home investment. Little brings a home to ruin quicker than rain and moisture that seeps through peeling paint.

    2. A New Front Door - One of the top quick home remodeling projects for the most immediate impact. A front door is the welcome point of a home; updating to a more stylish one can also include updating to a more energy efficient door.

    3. Garage Door Replacement - Whether the home has a one or three car garage, the door's expanse is large and making the upgrade to a newer one has a big impact on a home's curb appeal as well as functionality for daily use.

"The best home remodeling projects are those that fit the homeowner's use and enjoyment of their home. For those who choose to invest more than one can realistically anticipate recouping the costs of, if they love their home and plan to live in it for a long while, that's great," adds Thuening. For those who plan to sell their home in the future, knowing what remodel costs are easier to recover is helpful in making better decisions.

Pike County home and garden show features high-tech gadgets - April 12, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    By JESSICA COHEN

    April 11, 2014

With the economy still in recovery, improved homes, rather than new homes, will likely be the interest of visitors to the Pike County Builders Association Home and Garden Show this weekend at Delaware Valley High School, says custom builder Ed Nikles.

So, vendors will accommodate them with innovations that help with economizing.

After a snowy winter, ways to save money while staying warm may be particularly appealing, and Nikles points out a variety of ways to keep heat indoors, including high-efficiency doors, triple-pane windows and special insulation.

Foam, Fiberglas or cellulose insulation can be sprayed or blown into wall cavities to fill them without gaps, resulting in better insulation, he says. And joints in wall sheeting and ceiling plates can be sealed with caulk or foam.

At least one home show vendor, Superior Walls, sells pre-cast concrete foundation walls, with interior insulation.

"The walls come in sections on the back of a tractor-trailer," says Nikles. "A crane sets the walls in place. It's all done in one day."

Plus, new thermostats can be adjusted remotely with smartphones.

"On your way home from a vacation, you can adjust the heat or air conditioning before you arrive," says Nikles.

For those who get miles away from home and wonder whether an oven was left on, now you can turn it off without turning around. Other appliances and light fixtures can also be controlled from a distance. And vendors will bring various home fixtures in new colors, finishes and styles.

The show will include an array of licensed building professionals, he says, including builders, remodelers, electricians, landscapers and vendors selling roofing, gutters, generators, siding, sun rooms, fireplaces and more. Representatives from insurance and security companies and banks will also be on hand.
