Longviews home builders showcase, set to open this weekend, benefits builders as much as visitors, organizers said.
Angela Daughtry, executive officer for the East Texas Builders Association, said about 2,000 people are expected to visit 18 homes from Friday through May 11, during the annual Parade of Homes event.
It is an opportunity to see the latest products, see the latest floor design, and if you are someone looking to build a home, you get to see the builders work, Daughtry said.
The Parade of Homes is a two weekend event where visitors can tour homes in the Longview area.
The event will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the following weekend, and visitors can see any of the 18 homes throughout the weekends by purchasing a $10 ticket.
Jason and Genia Horn, owners of Horn Custom Homes, have two houses in the parade and said they would continue participating as long as they were in home construction.
For us, there is no better value than to put your home on the Parade of Homes, Jason Horn said.
Nowhere else can you pay that amount of money and have 2,000 people walk through your home.
The parade, which is held twice a year and serves as a primary fundraiser for the builders association, usually nets the company about three contracts, Horn said.
Rodney Riley, who has one home in the parade, agreed the event is useful.

Matawan, NJ (PRWEB) April 29, 2014
Officials from SCB, Stone Creek Builders, announced on April 28, 2014 the impending completion of renovations to a Fair Haven home, after roughly six months of pouring love and care into the project.
The project to improve the Fair Haven home was described by an SCB representative as a labor of love, one in which the group upgraded everything from the home's kitchen and bathrooms to its plumbing and lighting fixtures.
Through careful planning and skillful execution, SCB completely renovated the home's kitchen. Upgrades to the area included white and black cabinets, stainless steel commercial appliances and mosaic tile by "New Revenna" to add a whimsical touch to the commercial feel.
The group also renovated the bathrooms in the home. The master bath was reworked with all white marble, a claw-foot soaking tub, marble steam shower fitted with custom shower doors, hand-held shower head and a rain-shower head.
The SCB group reworked the other bathroom with all-white, subway tile. Half a bath was decked out with a new toilet bowl, new vanity and fish wallpaper to add a lighthearted touch.
All the home's flooring was sanded and re-finished. To compliment the improved flooring, wall paneling was upgraded with Wainscoting in some areas. The home's light system was upgraded with new light fixtures, wall scones, chandeliers, ceiling fans and lantern pendants.
The SCB group painted the house and applied wall paper to some of the home's rooms. As evidenced by the charming, whimsical touches added to the home's kitchen and bathrooms, the SCB group wanted the renovations to be as heartwarming for the homeowners as they were practical.
"The house was a labor of love," stated an SBC representative. "We hope the home owner loves it as much we do."
All that's left to reach completion of the renovation is bring the furniture back into the home, along with all of the homeowners' collectibles and personal items.

Spring has barely made its presence known, but area builders are looking forward to summer.
Three area builders groups have scheduled late-summer home tour events designed to showcase their designs and craftsmanship and get a jump on 2015 construction.
Last week, the Home Builders Association of Fort Wayne announced its 2014 Parade of Homes and Lifestyle Show will take place Sept. 6 to 14. The location is The Forest of Foxwood, which hosted 2005s parade.
The Builders Association of Northeast Indiana will host its annual scattered-site Builders Parade Aug. 1 to 3 and Aug. 8 to 10. And, the Builders Association of Kosciusko and Fulton Counties has moved its Homes on Parade from its traditional slot in May to Sept. 5 to 7.
According to Joni Truex, the Kosciusko area associations executive officer, that group delayed the parade because the severe winter affected home construction.
The frozen ground had prevented builders from being able to start or complete building projects, she says. We are waiting until the fall to unveil the beautiful new custom homes and excellent remodeling projects.
Jan Garman, co-executive officer of BANI, says that group does not know how many houses will be on display in August. However, past events have had six to eight homes, many on the regions lakes.
Kim Ward, marketing director for Foxwoods developer, North Eastern Group, says the parade to date includes seven homes and two villas and a nearly 25,000-square-foot exhibition tent.
A new feature is that builders will be paired with major sponsors who will co-brand the homes, Ward says, adding about 15,000 people are expected to go through the properties.
Participating builders so far are Bob Buescher Homes of Fort Wayne and Angola, Granite Ridge Builders of Fort Wayne and Goshen, Timberlin Homes of Leo and Hickory Creek Homes, Quality Crafted Homes, Slattery Builders and Star Homes by Delagrange & Richhart, all of Fort Wayne.

Summer home tours scheduled by area builders
Published: Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 17:54 PM.
The first day of a two-weekend 2014 Spring Parade of Homes and Remodelers Tour took advantage of real spring weather and a recovering housing market to bring folks out to look, plan and even dream.
Sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Craven and Pamlico Counties, the noon to 5 p.m. free tours feature 22 homes, including 18 newly constructed and four remodeling projects. The Parade of Homes continues today.
In an area with as many finely constructed homes in neighborhoods of distinct character, remodeling and renovation is a frequent choice for home owners and buyers and remodeled outdoor living spaces can add a new dimension to living most of the year.
Association Executive Director Rachelle Hall Oliver said she would have better information later about the number of people touring, but builders and homeowners expect to be busy each of the four days the homes will be open for viewing.
Guests wander through 18 subdivision areas. Home building professionals from outside the area judged entrees and selected the work of a few of the 12 area builders as particularly special.
All homes placing first in the New Construction category are on the tour and open for viewing again Sunday and both days next weekend.
Some of the remodeled home winners are not, however. First place in the Best Whole House Renovation under $100,000, done by Coastal Craftsmen, LLC at 2015 Horseshoe Bend in Trent Woods, and first place Best Outdoor Living $10,000 to $25,000, done by Pope Custom Homes at 116 Teufen Road in Taberna, are open for viewing. Coastal Craftsmen, LLC also did the work on the house winning Best Whole House Renovation over $100,000 which is not on the tour.
New construction winners include Category 1 winner by J.C. Jackson at 3100 Catarina Lane, Category 2 winner Bill Clark Homes of Greenville at 111 Plantation Creek Drive, Category 3 winner Scheper Custom Homes at 309 Ramona Lake Court, Category 4 winner A. Sydes Construction Inc. at 3126 Bettye Gresham Lane, Category 5 winner Jason Arthur Construction at 121 Partridge Drive (which is also New Construction Best in Show), and Category 6 winner Pope Construction Homes at 105 E. Overlook Court.
Other Remodel/Renovation awards went to homes not on the Parade, including Best in Show to Pope Custom Homes for a residence on Green Springs Road.
