Kitchen cabinet refacing instructions & supply source … - October 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

There are five ways to a beautiful new kitchen:

Simply Replace Your Doors With New Ones

The first and easiest way is to simply replace your existing doors and drawer fronts without doing anything at all to the boxes. If they are a wood grain you don't even have to have an exact match. Take a close look at your cabinets now. You'll see that typically you have areas that are both lighter and darker than each other. A light to medium oak door will work just fine in almost every case. A slight contrast can add interest.

    The Euro Look

Invoke a warm, modern look by installing the very popular almond or white euro style door with continuous oak rail pulls and hidden hinges on your existing boxes. (Example: Almond euro doors on your existing oak or maple cabinets. Almond foreground, oak background.)

    The White Kitchen

Give your kitchen a bright, cheerful, contemporary look. Remove the doors and drawers fronts and paint the boxes white inside and out. New, white doors and drawer fronts with beautiful new brass handles and hinges completes the look! This is a very popular method. This kitchen can look either contemporary or country.

Do a complete refacing job yourself!

The fourth way is to veneer your old boxes with your choice of self-adhesive wood grain or color to match or contrast your new doors. This method costs a little more and takes longer because it includes laminating or veneering the boxes, but the results are well worth the effort.

    Your Own Look!

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing, Economical & Convenient … - October 14, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A full-scale kitchen remodel involves the removal and installation of new cabinets, which can take weeks or even months to complete. Kitchen cabinet refacing by Granite Transformations can be completed in just days and can help alleviate the stress and headaches of a traditional remodel. Our dedicated and professional installers measure, craft and install custom cabinet doors, drawers and hardware to provide a beautiful looking kitchen, without the mess of a remodel.

Granite Transformations offers both wood and composite cabinet refacings made of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and Rigid Thermofoil (RTF).

MDF has become the most popular composite material in recent years. Medium-density fiberboard manufacturers use only the highest quality recycled wood fibers and resin. MDF is so versatile that it is now used in furniture, doors, shelves and decorative molding. RTF is a laminate finish that is applied to MDF with heat-activated glue under immense pressure in a high vacuum press. Rigid Thermofoil has become the most popular choice for homeowners who want a beautiful product without all the care and upkeep that natural wood cabinets require. Better Homes and Gardens has touted RTF cabinetry as "the 40 year kitchen"!

Choosing the right wood comes down to three important choices: type, color and grain. Woods can be classified as either hard or soft. Hardwoods are made from broad-leaf trees such as cherry, oak and maple, while softwoods come from needle-bearing evergreen trees. Natural wood has non-uniform grain patterns which can result in an inconsistent look. Over time, wood cabinets can be prone to warping due to heat and moisture.

Granite Transformations offers a variety of cabinet refacing colors and styles for your kitchen or bath remodeling project. Cabinet refacing will save you time, money and aggravation, allowing you to be back in your home in two-to-four days (instead of two-to-four weeks, or more).

Please note that wood cabinets are not available at all Granite Transformations locations.

Schedule a FREE in-home consultation now and let Granite Transformations transform your kitchen or bath with new cabinet doors.

Cabinet refacing is the ideal choice for consumers that plan to keep the same kitchen layout, want the work completed in days not weeks, and who want to be able to use their kitchen during the remodeling process.

It's true. No other furniture in your home gets more use than your kitchen cupboards. Over the course of an average day, the doors get opened and shut many times. Over a period of years, this can lead to the loss of the original finish around the handles, especially if they are natural wood doors and drawer fronts. But, what about the boxes of your cabinets? They hardly get any wear. That's a good thing. Because replacing the boxes would be hard. Replacing the doors, however, is another story all together. Do-it-yourself kitchen cabinet refacing, because it takes little skill or special tools, is a very popular solution.

Just removing and replacing your existing cabinet doors and ignoring the boxes is the easiest way. If the stiles, rails and box sides still look good, just order doors that match your existing finish to bring your old kitchen back to life.

Another way is to create the modern European look that has been so popular. Use our Euro style with natural wood pulls along the bottom edge. Use hidden hinges. RTF ( a laminate like Formica) works best here.

You can also paint your boxes with white paint. Do this inside and out. Beautiful white country styling with antique brass handles or ceramic white knobs is the perfect finishing touch. Adding white curtains and a gingham table cloth can also make the kitchen bright and cheerful with a country flair.

Go all-out with do it yourself refacing! Veneer your boxes with a color or stain that will match your favorite scheme. It costs a bit more and takes more time this way, but you will appreciate the results for many, many years to come. Refacing takes no special skills or expensive tools. We have literally thousands of typical, non-professional homeowners that have used our methods and instructions to transform their old tired kitchens. Visit our customer photo gallery. How did they do it? It's easy! Watch our video, measure your pieces, select a style and finish and place your order with confidence. We are here to help you succeed. Our live help desk can answer questions and solve potential problems quickly and accurately. Our highest purpose is maintaining our five star customer service rating.

The final suggestion if the budget is tight, is to order MDF paintable components and paint them and your boxes to match. Your imagination is the only limit when you use this method. It is a lot of work, but the look is all yours.

Our wood products are safe and Carb Compliant. No matter what method you use to spruce up your kitchen, it will add value and pride to your home. We hope you will let us be of service when you are ready to move forward.
