SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) --
A San Francisco woman said she lived in a construction zone for months. Workers tore out what may be the most important room in the house, the bathroom. When they didn't put a new one in, that didn't sit well with the homeowner
Clydenia Austin described how her bathroom looked during a big remodel.
"Everything was torn out," Austin said. "There was a big hole in the wall."
She had no sink, no toilet, no tub, only the promise of a new bathroom in a few weeks. But months later, it still looked like a mess.
"They were supposed to come start the work but they didn't," she said.
Austin had hired Sears Home Services to do the work. A crew ripped out the old stuff back in August, then left it that way.
"They just kept making excuses why they couldn't get here, why they weren't able to get the people they wanted," she said.
After a month a crew finally installed a temporary toilet, but that was it.
"Very inconvenient to have to go down 15 steps and then go to another bathroom, shower. It wasn't easy," Austin said.

ReBath Northeast will be starting their spring home show season with two home shows in the coming weeks. A ReBath Northeast display, along with friendly associates will be present at each show.
The first home show for ReBath Northeast will be the Philadelphia Home Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The show begins Friday, January 17, runs through Monday, January 19, and then picks up again the following weekend.
ReBath Northeast will have a beautiful full bathroom remodel on display, featuring a walk-in shower with unique S curved doors.
Admission price for the show is $13 at the door for adults and $3 for kids under age 12.
Hours for the Philadelphia Home Show are: Jan 17: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan 18: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan 19: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan 23: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan 24: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Jan 25: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
ReBath Northeast will also have a display at the Northeast Pennsylvania Home and Garden Show at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, beginning Friday January 23.
The show attendees in Wilkes-Barre are in for a treat since the ReBath Northeast installers have remodeled the home show display. The new display will feature new colors and a beautiful Cambria quartz vanity top.
Admission price for the show is $7.50 at the door for adults and free for kids under age 16. Parking is free also.
Hours for the NEPA Home and Garden Show are: Jan 23: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Jan 24: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan 25: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ReBath Northeast Kicks off Home Show Season with Two Shows

MyHome, the Manhattan-based renovation company, recently completed a total apartment renovation at 130 West 67th Street in Manhattan. The project was designed by senior MyHome Remodeling Consultant,Ben Pitt. Pitt and his team were tasked with completely transforming a dated, post-war floorplan into an open and vibrant design that reflected his clients contemporary tastes.
This was accomplished by removing the kitchen walls to create an open floorplan with a 2-tiered counter-bar and expanding the bathroom into an otherwise unused long hallway. The kitchen utilizes the same high-end frameless grey-striated thermofoil and black quartz-composite countertops that reappear throughout the apartment in the built-in entrance dry bar, bathroom storage and living room built-in. The design is further unified by the cognac-stained fossilized bamboo floors throughout and the watermelon-red shoji screens (previously painted black, the only pre-renovation feature that the designer suggested keeping).
Above the built-in living room cabinetry is a custom designed, 1 thick floating open-backed shelving unit spray-finished in powder-coat black that extends over a small built-in home office at end of cabinetry. Pitt suggested that the kitchen and bar cabinetry, which are visible from living room, should be broken up with some aluminum-framed frosted glass wall cabinet doors and a luminescent glass mosaic backsplash of purples, blues and greys.
The newly expanded bathroom features an 8 tall white-glass entrance door to allow in natural light, an electric towel warmer and plenty of storage in its floating vanity with custom countertop-banjo shelf and shallow-depth linen cabinet. The sleek porcelain tiles change from black to white at the shower entrance and the large custom-size shower stall accommodates a corner shower bench. The frameless clear glass sliding shower door, with its minimum hardware, is a welcome finishing touch.
MyHome was founded in 2001 by managing partner Yoel Piotraut. The company, which is based in New York City, has a team of fifteen consultants, designers and managers. MyHomes New York City kitchen and bath showroom is located at 353 West 48th Street in Manhattan. Ben Pitt has been working with MyHome since 2003. He previously worked as an industrial designer, designing kitchen products for companies such as KitchenAid and Cuisinart after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design.
