Transformation - Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre
One of four venues at the AT T Performing Arts Center, the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre is recognized as one of the most innovative and flexible theatres in the world. The 12-level building features an unprecedented "stacked" design mdash;a vertically organized facility that completely rethinks the traditional arrangement of a theatre #39;s parts. Through a mechanized system, the theatrical scenery, proscenium wall and all three seating towers can be easily moved to change the venue into either a proscenium, thrust or flat-floor theatre. The Wyly Theatre provides performance spaces for Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and a variety of AT T Performing Arts Center Presents programming. The Wyly Theatre was designed by REX/OMA, Joshua Prince-Ramus (partner in charge) and Rem Koolhaas, in collaboration with Houston-based firm Kendall/Heaton Associates, and received the 2011 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Honor Award.From:ATTPACViews:2 0ratingsTime:01:31More inEntertainment

CTBUH 11th Annual Awards - Cordiano Yansong, "Absolute World Towers: Anthropomorphic Iconography"
Thursday, October 18, 2012. Chicago, USA. Joe Cordiano, Cityzen Development Ma Yansong, MAD Architects. Dubbed the "Marilyn Monroe" building, due to its sexy curves, Absolute Towers has added a new landmark to the skyline of Mississauga, a fast-growing suburb of Toronto. The architects sought to add something "naturalistic, delicate and human in contrast to the backdrop of listless, boxy buildings." The design features smooth, unbroken balconies that wrap each floor of the building.From:ctbuhViews:0 0ratingsTime:31:32More inEducation

Athens of the Prairie: How Columbus, Indiana Got Great Architecture
Columbus, Indiana is a city of around 40000 people located an hour south of Indianapolis. Columbus is exactly the kind of city you #39;d expect to find in the Midwest, except for one curious thing. The American Institute of Architects has ranked Columbus 6th in the nation for architectural innovation and design, right behind New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and Washington, DC. The architectural richness of Columbus isn #39;t the result of some visionary planning board. Nor are the zoning laws in Columbus different than those in most other Indiana cities. Columbus has fascinating architecture because in the 1950s industrialist and philanthropist J. Irwin Miller (of the Cummins Engine Company) decided that he wanted to live in a more visually interesting city. To this end, Miller offered to pay the architect #39;s bill for any new public building in Columbus. Today, Columbus boasts more than 70 buildings designed by internationally celebrated architects like IM Pei, Eliel Saarinen, Eero Saarinen, Richard Meier and Harry Weese. One man #39;s philanthropy sparked, as Bradley Brooks of the Indianapolis Museum of Art puts it, "an idea that is moving a community forward." Approximately 4 minutes. Produced by Paul Feine and Alex Manning.
