All Green Carpet Clean | Air Duct Cleaning Bensalem PA - March 28, 2019 by Mr HomeBuilder

The air ducts in your home help circulate regulated air to heat and ventilate your home. Dirt that accumulates within the air ducts can lead to several mechanical failures and most possibly contribute to a fire hazard. The air dries the dirt which itself is highly combustible and the slightest spark can ignite the entire house. The Bensalem, PA Fire Department reports that about 5% of house fires are the result of dirty air ducts. These fires could have easily been prevented with proper cleaning and maintenance.

If you or anyone in your home suffers from chronic allergies then cleaning out the air ducts is a definite must. Ensure this process is completed periodically depending on the size and age of your home. Good indoor air quality will be free of mold, mildew, pet dander, pollen, household chemical residues, and general dust all collect in air ducts.

When the heat or AC turns on, this potent mixture is blown into the air in your home where it can set off asthma attacks or other breathing difficulties, cause itchy watery eyes or just make life miserable for sensitive members of the household. HVAC cleaning should be performed at least annually in the Bensalem, PA area to prevent the buildup of noxious dust.

Is HVAC Air Duct Cleaning Really Necessary? – The Spruce - March 23, 2019 by Mr HomeBuilder

A popular HVAC "maintenance" item that tends to get a lot of attention is duct cleaning. It seems like a logical maintenance activity, but cleaning the air ducts in your homes HVAC system may not be as good an idea as it intuitively seems. Let's explore some of the issues.

Unlike dryer duct cleaning which should be regularly checked and cleaned, no independent objective organization recommends HVAC duct cleaning as an essential part of routine HVAC system maintenance.

In fact, the Environmental Protection Agencystatesthe EPA does not recommend that air ducts be cleaned except on an as-needed basis because of the continuing uncertainty about the benefits of duct cleaning under most circumstances.

It also states,Duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. Neither do studies conclusively demonstrate that particle (e.g., dust) levels in homes increase because of dirty air ducts. This is because much of the dirt in air ducts adheres to duct surfaces and does not necessarily enter the living space.

Duct cleaning isn't necessarily a bad idea, but the fact is that it's not necessary in most cases. When properly performed, duct cleaning can be useful in limited situations, such as if the ducts are filthy or infested with mice or other vermin. If you see evidence of significant visible mold growth in the ducts or on the mechanical components of the HVAC system that come in contact with air. that might be cause for cleaning. But cleaning normally dusty ducts provides no real value.

Frightening before and after duct photos may make great discount coupon photos but chances are rare that your ducts are in bad shape. If your ducts are seriously filthy enough to require it to be cleaned, then you should clean the entire HVAC system (more on that later), not just the ducts themselves.

Please understand that duct cleaning uses specialized tools to agitate and dislodge dirt in the ducts to make the dirt and other contaminants increasingly loose and airborne before they are vacuumed out. Sometimes the ducts are cut for tool access and needs to be carefully resealed. Then a powerful vacuum system is used to remove the loosened dirt and contaminants. If this is not done properly you can do more harm than good.

For example, if the vacuum hose/containment system is not sealed tightly and is exhausting contaminants to the outside, or if a HEPA filtration system is not used in an interior vacuum system, you can wind up releasing dirt and contaminants into your homes interior. As part of the duct cleaning process, your ducts may have service holes cut into it for tool or vacuum hose access that may not be properly sealed after use. Or, HVAC system components could be taken apart and damaged or not reinstalled properly, and so on.

Start by selecting and using a qualified contractor. Duct and HVAC system cleaning that is performed by someone who is trained and certified by the National Air Duct Cleaning Association (NADCA)has the best chance of being done safely.

According to NADCA, the major trade association for contractors doing air duct/HVAC system cleaning, its members need to have at least one certified Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) on staff and they are responsible to clean and restore a customers HVAC system accordance with the associations standards and guidelines.

Of course, NADCA certification is no guarantee of a problem-free experience, but it does at least improve your chances.

Part of the confusion surrounding duct cleaning services is that duct cleaning is often included as a part of an overall HVAC system cleaning. As a matter of fact, because the only time cleaning your ducts is required is when they are contaminated, it follows that if you need to clean the ducts, then you need to clean the entire HVAC system that comes in contact with the air moving through the ducts. That is the philosophy taken by NADCA.

NADCA recommends duct cleaning as part of an overall HVAC system cleaning that includes cleaning and replacing the air filter, cleaning grilles and diffusers, checking drain pans and drain lines for proper drainage, checking the heat exchanger and cooling coils, grills, furnace air plenum, blower motor, etc. They provide a useful checklist for residential consumers that explains their recommended process in more detail.

According to NADCA the following items should be covered in a HVAC cleaning service:

Be prepared to pay around $500 to $1,000 for a professional duct/HVAC system cleaning service. It could be more or less depending on the location, size of your home, and scope of what is cleaned. It will usually take two technicians 3 to 5 hours to clean the ducts and the HVAC system.

Problems emerge when duct cleaning is not performed properly. And not being performed properly often results from hiring someone who promises to give you a cheap $50 whole house special or makes a sales pitch based on broad generalized claims on the health benefits of duct cleaning. Some may even falsely claim to be certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which the EPA does not provide, or they may say that the EPA recommends duct cleaning, which it again does not recommend.

Be aware of what is referred to as blow-and-go salesmen who pose as contractors often found in mail-pack coupons. They usually accompany an offer to assess or clean your homes ducts for a very cheap price, say $49.95 or even less. As they often work on commission, they will try high-pressure sales techniques to sell you on expensive add-on services (mold testing, etc) or other service upgrades. They may try to charge for duct restoration, branch duct cleaning, etc. Some may even falsely claim they found mold in your ducts. Complaints abound about some unscrupulous blow-and-go companies using air fragrances, false mold tests showing positive results, handheld dust-buster vacuums, simple drills with brushes, etc.

The allure of a low price can be attractive, but do the math before you give in to temptation. Would two truly qualified service technicians with a truck and proper equipment service your ducts and HVAC system for 4 hours in exchange for $50? Unlikely.

Duct cleaning is often an emotional sell. You want good air quality for you and your family, so cleaning the ducts in your home seems to make sense. Some marketing photos of dirty ducts can look pretty scary. But the reality is that ducts only needs to be cleaned in rare cases when there is serious contamination. In those cases, the entire HVAC system should be cleaned, not just the ducts.

Duct cleaning is easy to do incorrectly, and that is where the risk lies. Hiring the wrong contractor can do more harm than good. When properly performed by a qualified technician, HVAC system cleaning, including duct cleaning, has not been shown to be detrimental. Again, though, thats if it is done correctly and by a certified technician with the right equipment and training.

Air Duct Cleaning by Sears – searsclean.com - March 6, 2019 by Mr HomeBuilder

Your HVAC unit and air ducts deliver heated or cooled air throughout your home year-in and year-out. The air your HVAC unit produces travels through your ductwork and heats or cools your home via the air vents in each room. The dust and other particles in your homes air are known as particulate matter, which the EPA defines as "a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets." The EPA also notes that "particle pollution is made up of a number of components, including acids (such as nitrates and sulfates), organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particles." Having clean air ducts means fewer of these particles moving through your home. If you remove your furnace filter and hold it up to the light, you can probably see several hundred of these minuscule particles floating in the air.

While your HVAC filter is designed to trap particulate matter and prevent it from entering your air ducts, particles often still get through. The number of particles your HVAC filter traps is directly connected to the quality of air in your home: the lower the quality of air, the more particles will be present, and the more particles are likely to get through the filter. If these particles are allowed to build up, your HVAC system can become less efficient, operating longer to heat or cool your home. An inefficient HVAC system can result in inconsistent heating or cooling, higher utility costs, and expensive HVAC unit repairs, such as an A-coil or blower motor replacement if the problem is left unchecked. Air duct cleaning from Sears, which focuses on the dirt in your air ducts, can boost the efficiency of a dirty HVAC system, cleaning out the particulate matter that can hinder HVAC effectiveness and affect your health.

    A+ Air Duct Cleaning, Inc – 21 Photos & 26 Reviews – Air … - January 8, 2019 by Mr HomeBuilder

    26

A + Duct Cleaning, DeWayne Jackson, I highly recommend! Upon arrival, DeWayne was extremely friendly and professional. He explained the process and how long it would take. DeWayne and his employee, Amir, were very thorough and respectful of my belongings. Again, I HIGHLY recommend A + Duct Cleaning!

Outstanding service provided today by Dewayne and his team. I had no idea what an air duct cleaning entailed but I knew I needed it. They were on time, extremely professional, and cleaned up so well that you would never know they were here today. Every step of the process was explained and I am thoroughly satisfied with their top notch service. My air quality in my home feels so much lighter than before, and I love that they use natural fresheners.

I CANNOT recommend Dewayne and his team at A+ Duct Cleaning enough!! We get our ducts cleaned pretty regularly, usually going off of a deal on Groupon. Every single time the people would come and there would be surprise add on fees for every little thing, and were usually done pretty quickly. Dewayne was very upfront, charged a flat fee and included everything AND MORE that all the other companies did not. He showed me where other companies didn't do what they were supposed to, and it looked pretty bad. Dewayne was helpful w/ explaining step by step what he was doing the entire time. My husband is very handy and tries to keep up our dryer vents but there were just areas it would be impossible for a non-professional to do, so don't risk it! So happy I found A+ Duct Cleaning, they did such an amazing job!! My neighbors even hired him to do their houses as well!

Top Notch. I'd give DeWayne six stars if Yelp would let me. He was prompt, professional, friendly and he educated my wife and I about how to keep our air ducts and dryer vents clean--and how important it is to do so. We strongly recommend him.

Very happy with the thorough job A+ Air Duct Cleaning did on my air ducts. They got rid of a strong curry odor problem that had built up in my air ducts. He was on time, informative and explained the process really well. Good pricing. Both guys were cheery and funny.

Dewayne was great! Came out and got rid of birds nests in our ducts and even took on a nasty hornets nest for us. He was so thorough that he came inside and cleaned out the vents from the dryer. What was impressive is that he took the time to re tape some loose connections in the duct. He plans on coming back in a week or 2 to get the last duct as he didn't want to disrupt a baby birds nest until they got strong enough to fly out. Great guy!

Dewayne was one of the best contractors I've ever had in my house. He was professional, courteous and friendly. He also knew what he was doing! My dryer went from taking four hours to dry a large load to only taking 45 minutes to get it very dry.Dewayne explained everything he found and how his equipment works as he went. No mysteries or questions unanswered when he was done. Dewayne should be your go to for air duct cleaning. For everythinhg I received I felt like I was ripping him off for the price he charged me! Price isn't as important to me as getting the job done right and the first time. I got the rare pleasure of having both a great price and excellent workmanship all in one. Unfortunately, he wasn't the first person I called to clean my dryer vent, but he is definitely the only person I will be calling in the future. Thanks, Dewayne!

Wow! I left left a bad review for Dwayne and A+ in error! My mistake, Dwane was on time easy to work with and explained everything so I understood and knew that my dryer Vent had been checked and cleaned. It was his visit and patient insights that helped me to understand my pre previous provider hadn't done anything, except to overcharge me. I would recommend A+ Air Duct Cleaning, Inc., as a great value and trustworthy service provider.

Talked to Dewayne on Monday of this week and he got me scheduled the same week to clean my dryer vents and remove a bird nest that had been built. We have a 3rd story dryer vent, and that was not a problem.Dewayne did a fantastic job, and I would absolutely utilize his services again. I would definitely recommend A+ Air Duct Cleaning to neighbors and people within the Ashburn/Loudoun County community. On time, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient.

Very good, efficient work. DeWayne is thorough, very professional and extremely personable. Also, he takes the time to explain what he is doing, why and how his equipment works. He is really customer service oriented. DeWayne was referred through A Plus AC company near Winchester, VA. He will certainly be our "go to guy" for any duct work in the future. You will be pleased with his work and prices. I highly recommend DeWayne and his company. Bob Oren

Don't even know where to begin!!! After a long month of not having a dryer (3 month old brand new dryer stopped working), we finally had a new one delivered. When the guy took it away, he noticed that it had a lot of water in it. Hence, we had probably ruined our new dryer ourselves b/c of the dryer duct. We were told not to use the new one until we had the vent cleaned out. I quickly got on Yelp and my husband gave DeWayne a call. All of these reviews are true!!!! He was awesome!!!! He listened to our story and told us he was really busy and booked for another week but if he could come out later that day he would let us know. DeWayne called around 6 pm that night and said he would be at our house in 30 minutes. I was honestly blown away. There aren't many businesses now a days that have TRUE customer service! He was at our house for an hour and we can not thank him enough for all he did for us. He has gained a customer for life!!!!! If you ever have any air duct issues, Dewayne is your guy!!!!

Dwayne came out to clean our dryer vent which turned into a much bigger project. He was able to determine that someone had broken off an old tool in the vent causing that was causing damage to the house as well as a fire danger. He persevered until he was able to the the vent cleared. I highly recommend Dwayne and plan on having him back regularly to clean our ducts.

Decided to give Dwayne a call to come clean out our dryer vent after reading multiple positive reviews on Yelp. Reviews were spot on. From the initial phone call through the wrapping up the job, Dwayne could not have been more professional and personable. He made sure my wife and I understood the work he completed. I strongly recommend him if you need any of these services.

Very professional and thorough dryer vent cleaning. Dewayne took care of the clog quickly, answered questions, and was quite cordial throughout the service call. I will definitely call him again for any air duct or dryer vent service needs.

Highly recommend Dwayne and A+ Duct Cleaning. We are in the process of moving into our "new to us" home and wanted to have the ducts and dryer vent cleaned. Dwayne showed up on time and was very efficient and very open about the services he was going to provide. He also had no issues answering any questions that I had throughout the process. He stuck to the original quote and did not try to up-sell any additional services. It was an easy decision to provide the 5 star rating.

Excellent service. Dewayne knows his work thoroughly and is a real honest professional. I had called him to clean my AC vents and Dryer vents. He is surprisingly very thorough and kept going till it was properly cleaned. He did a great job at my house and also educated me on the right things. I will most definitely call him for any duct work in the future.

Dewayne squeezed us in for a last-minute air-duct cleaning emergency -- I was going to be moving my four young children into a home that had an extraordinary amount of construction dust and debris. He was incredibly personable, thorough, and conscientious. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for duct cleaning!

Dwayne is the man. I love that he is dedicated to doing the job 100% complete, the right way, for a great price. It's not often that you find good reliable people in certain construction/maintenance industry, but Dwayne is exceptional. I have recommended him to numerous friends, family, and neighbors, i know that when they call him they will be in great hands.

I made an an appt to get my dryer vent cleaned with A+ after reading the first review. The guy who booked my appointment was very nice on the phone but who cares when they cost: $150-175 for dryer vent cleaning alone!Later the same day, I flipped through the coupon value catalog that comes in the mail. Within just a few minutes I found at least 2 or more other local companies that had a Spring clean special for just $49 to clean your dryer vent!!! Needless to say, I canceled with A+ and think that unfortunately, they are well overpriced.

Certainly recommended. Very professional and thorough with his work. I would certainly use his company again.

How To Clean Your Own Air Ducts and Save Money! - January 2, 2019 by Mr HomeBuilder

Knowing how to clean your air ducts can save you a lot of money, since the professional duct cleaners charge a small fortune to do it.

Is it a necessary household task? Probably not. Is it one that I do? You bet.

Ever since the day I dropped an earring down a floor register and opened it to find a massive spiderweb occupied by an equally massive spider, Ive made a point to clean my air ducts regularly. It lets me sleep at night.

Also, I always notice less dust settling on my furniture after Ive done such a cleaning.

It just makes sense, doesnt it? If youve got forced air coming out of a duct filled with dust, pet hair, Cheerios, or big ol hairy spiders, theyre bound to spread around a bit, right? Why put up with that? Thats why you need to know how to clean your air ducts.

Fortunately, cleaning your air ducts isnt that difficult to do if you use the right tools and make a point of following directions. No, you wont get as deeply into your duct system as a commercial company will. Thats fine: most of the debris in your ducts gathers toward the registers, anyway, and you can reach those spots on your own.

You can use this method to clean cold air returns, too.

The deep cleaning described below only needs to be done once or twice a year. Keep ducts clean by lifting the register and vacuuming any dust or debris you see. (Monthly works.)

If you have pets that shed a lot, or kids who like to drop things down floor registers, you might want to consider installing vent register filters.

Be sure to change your HVACs air filter after you clean your ducts.

    You will need:

Vacuum cleaner with accessories hoseDust brush for your vacuumMicrofiber cleaning clothsRotary dryer vent brush cleanerCordless drill

Floor registers are easy to remove lift them up. Wall registers may have to be unscrewed using the cordless drill. Either way, remove and wash the vent in a sink of hot, soapy water, then rinse and let them air dry. Metal registers can be cleaned in a dishwasher, though if youve painted yours, you should probably wash them by hand.

Once the registers are out of the way, attach the dryer vent brush to the end of your cordless drill. Make sure its firmly attached before feeding it into the duct because you do not want the brush detaching and getting lost in your duct system!

Turn the drill on and let it whip the brush around in your duct. With the drill still running slowly, pull back while the brush cleans the walls of the ductas you pull the brush out. Turn the drill off when the brush reaches the final 2 feet, or youll fling dust everywhere.

Once youve removed the dryer vent brush from your duct, stick your vacuum cleaner hose with the dust brush attachment down into the duct. (Again, make sure that brush is on firmly!) Now, vacuum up any dust or other gunk youve dislodged, then give the dryer vent brush a quick vacuum before moving onto the next duct.

Using a damp microfiber cloth, reach down into the duct as far as you can and wipe the interior clean. Youll want to rinse the cloth repeatedly because chances are youll find a lot of dust and gunk in there the first time you do this. For particularly stubborn dirt its okay to spray a homemade all-purpose cleaner on the cloth before wiping.

Wipe the area around the duct, including the floor or wall. Return the clean register vent to place, and youre done!
