You could say that the roads that led Andy Suhay away from Big Bear 14 years ago, eventually led him back home.

After 14 years off the hill, Suhay is home for good as the owner-operator of Bear Valley Carpet Cleaning. He took full ownership of his fathers business in December. When I was a kid my dad would ask me if I wanted to take over the carpet cleaning business when I grew up, and I always told him no way, Suhay said. Ive been around the world and seen a lot of cool things. Now Im back and glad to be here. Theres no place better than Big Bear.

Skip Suhay started what is the longest-running carpet cleaning business in the Valley back in 1979. Andy, who was born in 1981, grew up knowing the business inside and out. He worked off and on for his father during breaks from school and in the summer. Id even go out with him on calls late at night, Andy said. Dad was a very good supervisor.

Skip passed away last spring, and Andys goal is to continue his fathers legacy as one of the best carpet cleaning businesses in town. With two employees and some of the newest equipment available in the business, Bear Valley Carpet Cleaning continues to get rave reviews from clients. Im not here to reinvent the wheel, Andy said. Im here to polish the spokes and continue to grow and build on the legacy he left.

Bear Valley Carpet Cleaning offers commercial and residential services. The company does carpet and upholstery cleaning, and disinfecting and deodorizing using powerful hydroextraction and truck mounted equipment.

With sub-freezing temperatures common during the winter in Big Bear, frozen and bursting water pipes cause water damage. Bear Valley Carpet Cleaning specializes in water damage cleanup. It makes sense to have someone local do that job, Andy said.

Emergency services and free in-home estimates are available. Whatever you put in your carpet, we get it back out, Andy said. Our dry time is quick, and we use eco-friendly solutions. If we cant get it out, its not coming out.

As scary as it can be to be a business owner, Andy is confident his experience as a retail manager while living in Orange County will serve him well. I trust myself fully. Im sure all my bad decisions are out of the way, Andy said with a laugh. His goal is to keep the machine Skip Suhay built 35 years ago running successfully. We stick to what we know best, Andy said. Were not a jack of all trades, but a master of one. Were the oldest operating carpet cleaning business, with the newest technology and equipment.

Regular hours for Bear Valley Carpet Cleaning are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but this business isnt glued to the clock. Emergency and after-hour services are available. For more information about Bear Valley Carpet Cleaning, call 909-866-8303, visit
