The jeer: Jeers to Magic's Carpet Care. They did not show for service.

I called, and the owner said they would come. The technician called and said he would come after he finished another job.

He called back and asked if I had cash. I said no. He also asked if I was given a price, and I gave him the price. He called back around 7 p.m. and said he was not coming.

About Chance: Chance said she wanted to get her carpets cleaned at a certain time because she was having new furniture moved into her house.

She said the company representative asked her if she had cash because his debit machine wasn't working.

Chance said she ended up using another carpet-cleaning service.

The other side of the jeer: Ken James, owner of Magic's Carpet Care, said the company tried its best to accommodate Chance.

He said the company offers same-day service if the customer calls by noon. He said Chance called in the afternoon, but the company tried to work her job in. James said a time was agreed on, but that the customer wanted to change it.

"We tried to work her in, but we weren't able to," James said.
