Cs Home & Office Management Offers Relief For Those Battling Cancer

Throughout the month of October, the color pink is often used to raise awareness about breast cancer and though the cleaning professionals of Cs Home & Office Management Inc. will certainly be using pink dusters and microfibers while on the job this month as well as giving away free pink Swiffers thats not all the Noyac company is doing to help in the cause of fighting cancer.

Cs Home & Office Management Inc. is the only cleaning company east of Rocky Point that does free house cleanings for cancer patients through the international non-profit organization Cleaning for a Reason, which has participating companies represented in every U.S. state and throughout Canada.

Cs Home & Office Management owners Cindy and Christopher Capalbo said they have participated in the program for more than five of the 14 years their company has been in business.

Once a patient is automatically approved, Cleaning for a Reason will send us an e-mail asking if were willing to take on the patient and we always say yes, said Ms. Capalbo. They get four free four-hour cleanings that can be spread out over four months and four cleanings for 50-percent off after that, but honestly, Ive worked a lot longer than that for people because once we see the condition; we become attached. We dont just walk away and say, Were done now. When they need us, they need us, especially if its a terminally ill patient.

Ms. Capalbo said Cs relationship with the Texas-based non-profit began while the couple were attending a convention for the Association of Residential Cleaning Services, International, after she and her husband had both lost their mothers to cancers.

When my mother-in-law and mother passed, my husband and I both wanted to do something to help, she said. We were thinking of joining hospice, but then we were approached by Cleaning for a Reason, it felt like perfect timing.

Though Cleaning for a Reason is limited to women with cancer, the Capalbo couple extend free cleaning services through Cs Home & Property Management Inc. to all cancer patients, including men and children.

Were not going to turn anybody away, said Ms. Capalbo. Ive had people say this was their last request to have their house cleaned. Four or five years ago I had a male patient a Sag Harbor man whose daughter was a student who said he wanted to make sure his house was cleaned and then, actually, a local carpet company went in and did the carpet cleaningIts been really hard when people have gone; thats been the toughest part.

Cs Home & Property Management Inc. have extended special cleaning services to cancer patients for as long as two years in the past, according to Ms. Capalbo, who said the company also donates their services to veterans and others in need through charitable programs like Cleaning Angels USA.
