Total Home Solution Named NARI Contractor of the Year for the Second Year in a Row

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) Bux-Mont Chapter has named Total Home Solution of Eagleville, Pa., a CotY winner (Contractor of the Year) for Bathroom Remodeling in its annual awards competition. This is the second year in a row that Total Home Solution has won a CotY, a prestigious honor for award winning craftsmanship. The award is given annually to the best of the best contractors and is based on their work over the past year.

CotY Awards are judged by an independent panel of experts in the remodeling field. Chapter winners, like Total Home Remodeling, are eligible for regional recognition at NARIs Evening of Excellence, an award Total Home Solution won last year. To be considered for a CotY Award, projects must involve a significant level of difficulty in meeting the needs of the clients. In this case, Total Home Solution was faced with several, not the least of which was that the bathroom was located in the 15th floor penthouse of an apartment building. It also included no windows for natural light, aging in place needs and a very firm deadline.

In order to meet the creativity component of the CotY Award, applicants must show unique use of certain design elements, such as type of tile, pattern, and texture. Tom Hawks, owner of Total Home Solution, selected components that would add brightness to the windowless room including porcelain tile similar in look to white calacatta and a lighting design with several adjustments to play off reflective accents.

A major requirement for the CotY Award is the inclusion of unique approaches to the project. In this case, the restrictions of the building itself created the unique approach. Pieces needed to be cut and adjusted to fit into the small freight elevator and building components from the ceiling of the structure needed to be worked around, including ventilation and wiring for the whole building.
