Criminal complaints were filed before District Judge Thomas Capello charging Christopher P. Corradi, 33, and Lisa F. Squires, 28, with three violations of home improvement fraud, deceptive or fraudulent business practices, theft by deception and two counts of conspiracy.

Corradi and Squires, both of whose last known address was 1770 Wheatfield Court, Middletown, did business as $Price Is Right$ Paving and Sealing, the district attorney said.

In April, Corradi went to the victim's Beechwood Avenue home and offered to seal her driveway for $400, Arnold said. Corradi told the victim her home needed other repairs.

Corradi and Squires were paid more than $34,000 to do basement remodeling, mold eradication, weatherproofing, gutter cleaning and other jobs, the district attorney's office said. They told the woman the work was being completed in the basement, but she could not go downstairs to inspect it on her own because of her physical limitations.

Investigators said they found what they characterized as "little more than a haphazard coat of paint" had been applied to the basement paneling.

The woman believed the expenses were legitimate and told the bank staff that extensive cleanup and renovation was being done because of damage from last fall's flooding.
