Worcester MP meets architects who enhanced city skyline

THE architects which spruced up the skyline of St John's in Worcester met with MP Robin Walker who says he is a 'fan' of their work.

Staff at DJD Architects received Robin Walker at their offices on St Oswalds Road, Worcester on Friday.

Mr Walker approached DJD Architects as he is a great fan of the work they have done on the overcladding and refurbishment of the St John's towers for client Fortis Living and said he was also struck by the innovative designs of other buildings created by the firm.

Staff at DJD Architects showed Mr Walker working models, and drawings, discussed previous and current work as well as issues facing Worcester businesses.

Mr Walker was impressed with the significant investment in BIM (Building Information Modelling) allowing fully integrated virtual models in 3D.

As a member of the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee, Mr Walker learned about DJDs work experience programme for school students.

Students are given a theoretical design project, requiring freehand sketching, physical modelling and computer modelling to design a youth shelter related to one of their hobbies.

David Davis, managing director of DJD Architects, said: "We are very proud of what we have achieved on the St John's Towers and we know that the clients are really happy with the results and the residents are already making use of their new facilities.

"The project is now complete and were pleased to know we have made a positive impression on the Worcester skyline."
