National Organization Of Minority Architects (NOMA) Summer 2012 Architecture Camp
Project Pipeline: Architecture Camp A 4-Day intensive studio based program that introduces middle school students (ages 11-14) to the profession of architecture. The students use their creative skills to develop an architectural design for a site in San Francisco. Students will learn and practice model making, architectural drawing, sketching, critical thinking and public speaking skills during this fun and challenging program. SFNOMA organizes, sponsors and leads an annual Architecture Summer Camp for middle school students. The primary purpose is to address the relative absence of architecture as a career choice for young people in underserved communities by providing inspiration, role models and experience on the nature of the profession. The program began in 2010 and is held each summer at CCA, the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. The program exposes youths to the profession of architecture through hands-on studio experience, field trips and lectures.
