For example; Insulation, renewable energy, the environment, durable materials and solid structures are extremely important as the quantity of snow fall can severely effect a basic structure. Intertwining a strong, unique design with all these necessairy aspects are the main challenges for Mountain Housing. The Traditional Houses which are still present in the area, are a great example of how to connect human need with extreme weather conditions. The use of the pitch rooves, local materials , orientation, dimensions of openings, strategic positioning to protect structures from an avalanches path and short distances from water supplies are all dictated from the environment.
