Architects will present middle school schematic designs to the Morgan County School District RE-3 Monday night, marking the end of the schematic design phase for the building.

Representatives from Wold Architects and Engineers and Larson Incitti Architects will present early in the meeting at about 7 p.m. The representatives will show schematic designs of the new middle school and present information regarding the process.

Representatives from the two firms and representatives from the Design Advisory Committee (DAG) held a community meeting on Jan. 26 giving residents a first look at the schematic designs for the middle school. Architects and DAG members spent the meeting answering questions about the decisions chosen. The schematic design presentation to the Board of Education is expected to follow a similar format to the community meeting.

The schematic design presentation to the Board of Education is important, however, because it marks the last step in the schematic design phase. Architects will move on to the design development phase, which will focus on specific elements in the new middle school. Building designers will spend this phase speaking with every stakeholder in the new building, including teachers, administrators and groups expected to use the building.

Architects will hold another public meeting on March 9.

The Board of Education has scheduled an executive session to begin at 6 p.m. Board members will discuss a superintendent evaluation, according to the agenda. Board members may invite Karen Temple into the meeting.

Action items the Board of Education will consider approving are consideration to approve an FFA officer retreat, consideration to approve an overnight trip for the baseball team, consideration to approve the acceptance of donations and consideration to approve a request for unpaid leave.

The Board of Education approved the FFA officer retreat via email Jan. 23, according to the agenda. FFA officers have already taken the trip.

If the Board of Education approves the overnight baseball trip, the team will have the go-ahead to travel to Montrose on March 12-13.

If the board approves to accept donations, the school district will receive $5,000 from Ehrlich Toyota East for the purposes of buying new mats at Fort Morgan High School. Ehrlich Toyota was also able to apply for a $5,000 match from Toyota National, according to the agenda.
