Russia #39;s old world to me is a deeply atmospheric place, full of passion and romance. And, of course, at her heart stands St Petersburg - majestic, elegant and beautiful. Having recently watched the new version of Anna Karenina (2012) starring Kiera Knightley, I was moved to create this video which shows St Petersburg as the perfect setting for the love stories of two great Russian writers Count Leo Tolstoy and Alexander Pushkin. The love stories of Anna Karenina and Onegin are both deeply moving and, as with many love stories, tragic too. But as well as the romance of the people is the captivating and often breathtaking beauty of the natural settings, costume, architecture and interiors. Old world Russia - a country to inspire writers, musicians, choreographers and architects. An aesthete #39;s paradise.
