Drivers will have to detour off of a block of West Dayton Street beginning Tuesday, so construction work can continue on an apartment building.

The Madison Traffic Engineering and Parking Divisions said in a news release the 400 block of West Dayton Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

The block is between North Bassett and North Broom streets.

The closure is needed so underground utility lines can be installed for The Domain, a 12-story apartment building going up at 415 W. Dayton St.

Local access to residences in that block will be maintained at all times, and pedestrians will be able to use the south side of West Dayton Street as well as to all residences in the block.
