A New Mexico family paid $7,700 for a new heating and air system months ago, but still have little to show for it.

John and Tammy Kirschman, who are both teachers, connected with New Mexico Air and Solar Consultants through an air duct-cleaning deal they found on Groupon.

Instead, the companys owner convinced them to buy a new furnace in April for $3,600, then a refrigerated air system in June for $4,100.

The company cashed the checks almost immediately, but has hardly completed the work.

There's a hole in the family's floor where the old heater used to be, a new heater wrapped in plastic in the home's crawl space and no refrigerated air unit in sight.

No one has returned Kirschmans hundreds of calls in weeks to either the company's office line or owner Ronnie Sampson's cell phone.

"It would be several calls a day, easily, and then I would call the office, and all of them went to the answering machine," Kirschman said.

He said his wife has been suffering from the high temperatures inside their home, which top 90-degrees at times.

"Hands and all swelling up, she has difficulty sleeping because it's just too hot in here," he said.
