Alstom has been awarded a contract by Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) for five-year maintenance of turbine island and process equipment on nuclear island at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland.

The long-term service agreement is an extension of agreements signed earlier and successfully in place since 2000.

Under the contract, Alstom will conduct year-by-year pre-defined service outage works on turbines, generators and their auxiliary systems and also process valves and control rods on nuclear island at Olkiluoto 1 and Olkiluoto 2, including engineering, consulting, project management and continuous on-site support.

Alstom Finland will carry out work in close collaboration with Alstom Sweden.

Alstom Finland Thermal Services business unit managing director Kari Rahkonen said: "I am delighted that Alstom has been selected to continue services at Olkiluoto nuclear power plant in Finland.

"We can continuously improve and benefit from our high standards in safety and long experience of working in nuclear power plants."

TVO Production senior vice president Mikko Kosonen said: "We chose to continue with Alstom on the maintenance of the turbines and generators because of the good cooperation experience and flexibility of Alstom to respond on a short notice to our needs."
