U.S. Marshals have arrested a Staten Island man in connection with an alleged driveway paving scam in the Central New York town of Vestal, according to multiple published reports.

Jeremy Eugene John, 41, was nabbed Wednesday in Brooklyn by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force; authorities say he entered into an illegal contract with an elderly woman to do paving work in her driveway last month. She paid him $1,500 to do the work, which turned out to be deficient, according to reports in multiple outlets, including pressconnects.com.

John was charged with felony fourth-degree grand larceny at his arraignment in Vestal town court. In lieu of $10,000 bail, he was remanded to Broome County jail.

Police in Vestal issued an alert to the community to be on the watch for home repair scams. Vestal, a town of about 28,000, is located just above the state's border with Pennsylvania and eight miles west of Binghamton.
